there are three reasons why i think there are so many gun deaths. the first reason is because the united states gives Americans the freedom to have a gun in their possession. we have the right to bear arms, to me that means we have the right to own a man made tool that kills people. canada does not give the people the right to bear arms, that's why there are not that many killings, but yet a lot of people have guns over there because they go hunting as a sport.

the second reason is because the government instills fear into the American people, this was a point made in the film. they say that y2k will happen so the economy can be boosted and people can get paid by others buying flashlights, food and water, or whatever people need in case of a disaster. it all has to do with money, it comes to the point where bush can say anything and people will believe him without no evidence of the scare.

the third reason why is because of the acceptance issues, and also the unfair treatment by the government and also by people in the slums. the government makes enviorments out of many places in America like Vietnam, everyone is poor and whoever is rich gets robbed. because the government splits societies into those who have and those who ain't got.

this had the right amount of story, realism, and a great ending. people say it's too violent, but it's a prison movie it has to be violent, because prison is not sweet. Edward James Olmos is not only brave for doing this movie with actual prisoners and gang members, but he was great at depicting what happens to people when they get involved in a gang and do not do what the gang leader says, because when they tell you to kill someone, that person is going to get killed. either he goes down by your hands, or you end up getting killed with him. one of my favorite movies, i give it a 10/10
