Star Trek: Discovery (2017–2024)

Worst ST series ever
5 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I just started watching Season 5. How much do I dislike the characters and ridiculous story line? Plenty.

Captain Michael Burnham. Constantly looking at everyone with these beseeching eyes and/or shocked/confused expression. And she manages to speak exactly like the "actors" on a Dhar Mann Youtube video.

Sylvia Tilly, also known as "Star Trek Discovery's Jar-Jar Binks" is so painful to watch. Her attempt at playing some cutesy, awkward character just falls flat and is beyond irritating. She is the exact opposite of a Star Fleet Officer. I was so happy when she left Discovery in Season 4, and not impressed to see her return in Season 5.

Lt. Cmdr Paul Stamets - just yuck. A very creepy person. Makes my skin crawl.

Burnham's 'Iron Man' suit?? Her ex Captain is Queen of the Universe.. Righto.

Do I watch Episode 2 of Season 5?? Or am I DONE with Discovery?

Another finish for McGregor... (acting career finish)
22 March 2024
My interest in this movie, apart from the Jake UFC spoiler a while back, was to see if Conor could actually put his hyper-inflated ego aside for a moment and perform a role. And boy oh boy could he not... from the very first scene he is in we realise that this is going to be the Cringey-Conor show.. his ham acting is just so bad I just can't understand how he was casted with a speaking role. It must come down to his heightened sense of grandeur, and a lack of common sense people around him. Seriously - intervention time. "Conor, no more movies where you have to move your lips" Jake and Daniela on the other hand, were great in their roles.

3/10 with Conor, 7/10 potential with a villain that is an actual actor.

A ONCE in a lifetime movie
26 February 2024
ONCE in a lifetime means I will only watch this movie ONCE in my lifetime. If I could take it back a couple of hours that number would be nonce in a lifetime.

All previous great respect for Andie MacDowell instantly destroyed.

The plot we have seen endlessly The characters (bad guys) were so over the top it seemed like every single one of them was on the high end of the psycho scale, with their tendancies for torture and their delight in the process.

They even throw in the compulsory gum chewing moron.

As we see again and again... a decent storyline ruined by delusions of grandeur from the director(s) It had promise to be a good movie... a bit of subtlety, a bit of realism, a whole lot less manure.

Man vs. Bee (2022)
3/10
wrong title
27 June 2022
All I could think of during episode 1 was "Mr Bean". You've got a seemingly normal guy bombarded with ridiculous scenarios, who moronically over-reacts to them.

Why not just call this "Mr Bean vs Bee". One episode of this completely bumbling idiot was enough.

Garbage
30 January 2012
What a disappointment. A terrible movie with no good points. The first movie I have walked out of in a long time. The original was really quite good so my expectation was high for this one. Some of the characters were totally idiotic and tried too hard to be funny based on American style stereotypes. The 'Adjusters'... say no more. I found the humour to be non-humorous and childish. No part of the movie made me laugh. Although there were a couple of parts that made me cringe. What a shame to see this sequel pushed out there to tarnish the excellent reputation of the New Zealand film industry. It is a couple of hours of my life that I will never get back haha.
