This entire season felt like it was going around in circles. By the end, I still wasn't sure what I was supposed to have learned about the characters or what to feel. A quick overview of the storylines this season:

Mia and Andrew. Literally the same old story of Andrew putting his every need aside for Mia and basically being the perfect boyfriend (without being much else) while Mia is struggling with her connection - and lack of connection - to her family. EXACTLY the same thing as last season.

Lake and Lucy. One thing is how quickly their relationship progressed, but it made my head spin how quickly Lake fell for Lucy without us having seen ANY interaction between them prior to last season's finale. Sure, they were cute. But using the typical scenario of bravely breaking up because one of the characters is moving away just seems so tired and certainly not made to appear any less unoriginal by the fact that Mia and Andrew were dealing with the EXACT same thing at the same time.

Felix and Pilar. Again, they were cute and I actually thought their conflict was, if not good, probably the best one out of the weak choices. I understood Felix' dilemma and Pilar's frustration with feeling he chose her family over her. But it was wrapped up kind of badly and very abruptly.

Victor and Benji. Without a doubt the least functioning relationship on the show and yet the writers chose to have them broken up the ENTIRE season instead of proving why they were even supposed to be worth saving. The decision to have Victor forget about Rahim in 0,5 seconds and then bring in a third guy just seemed so odd. Especially because they then built Victor and Nick up in a way that actually kind of made me vote for them. They were certainly good for each other and seemed to grow in each other's company (even if Nick remained a half-empty shell of a character). I understand that first love often makes for the more "epic" story. But only if the characters are shown to actually make sense together.

Also, the way the broken relationships were all quickly resolved like pearls on a string in the finale was almost a little comedic and certainly didn't feel authentic. Overall, the entire season felt very lackluster.

Best plot twist I've seen in a long time. I cannot stress enough how important it is to not read any reviews or spoilers before watching this. You might find the pacing a little slow at times (at least I imagine some people would) but personally I liked it. I'll take a slow burn over too quick and messy pacing any day of the week. And just know that either way, the ending will make it all worthy of your time.
