Saw this by accident
29 April 2008
My wife and I went to the movies in California in search of something to pass the time. We had no idea what Forgetting was about and no way of knowing if it was our type of film. We bought our tickets with the thought in mind we would walk out if it was bad or weird or whatever, just step next door and watch something else. Well the first fifteen minutes of the film were slow I thought and it was hard to see where this was going. All of a sudden it became good, the audience participation is something you seldom see in a film. One spot people were moaning no no don't do it. I will not explain so as to not spoil the event. It has been a long time since I had such a good laugh, thanks to all who made it possible. While everyone acted as though Sarah was the beauty of the film it was Rachel who stole this old mans heart, where did she get those eyes? My advice is go see this and enjoy.

Casino Royale (2006)

One of the Best
21 November 2006
I never thought I'd see a Bond movie as good or better than Dr. No with Sean Connery. Casino Royal came right up to it and maybe even better. Good acting, not overloaded with special effects but enough to keep your attention. My wife who is not really a Bond fan,(she fell asleep during one), enjoyed the movie and thought it was great. I enjoyed the scenes, going from country to country was like a small vacation to places most of us do not get to very often. Bond was his best yet, without giving away anything let me say you will be surprised at his performance. Surprised to see m was a woman in this version of 007, we are used to a man in that role. I read my first Bond novel in 1964 and have been a fan since, looking forward to the next film and hope to see the same cast or at least one as good.

Preview Misleading
27 January 2006
Having seen the previews on a number of occasions I went to see this film because I was in the mood for a comedy. I guess the preview were all of the funny scenes. However, this turned out to be one of the most touching and sensitive movies I have seen in quite some time. The family stone could be almost anyones family and especially mine. The funny scenes were truly that, funny and very believable, one liners you wish you had said. The acting was first rate, I most enjoyed Diane Keaton and Craig Nelson. The movie moves along well with no dead time and while it is predicable in its storyline with no big surprises it is a very enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours. You get your moneys worth.

King Kong (2005)

Best I've Seen in a Long Time
14 December 2005
The animation alone would make this a first rate movie and well worth the price. The realistic sites and animals came alive on screen. The shots of New York of the thirties were incredible. Made you wonder where they got all the vintage autos, possibly models. While I realize it is a fantasy, Ann spent a lot of time in the cold New York Winter in very skimpy attire. The acting was first rate and even though there were no big names in the cast they all looked and acted great. The real star was Kong himself, from the start you just knew he was real. Having seen the original I knew the outcome of the story, however it never was brought home quite as well as in this version. There is no way this film would work on TV, it must be seen on the big screen at least the first time. I will be seeing it again, too much going on for one viewing.

A Murder on Shadow Mountain (1999 TV Movie)

Very good kept you guessing

Warning: Spoilers
I usually have a difficult time watching a TV movie, the extra long commercial breaks will break my concentration and I give up and find a good book. This one however made me put up with the adds and stay with it to the end. I realize the movie was based on a true story but it was not brought out why it took so long to find Denny? They had his name and I would presume his social security number. While he did move around a lot it would seem he would be found as soon as his number was entered for a job etc. The actors seemed a bit old for the part and a buried metal object when dug up had no rust. These were only technical glitches and did not take from the file. For a LifeTime Movie it was better than most.

Hidalgo (2004)
Great Movie a Must for Horse Lovers
24 February 2004
I found the movie very interesting and easy to watch, not vulgar, a plus today. The history part was especially good. Some parts make you feel ashamed of the behavior of our forefathers. Looking at he history and tradition of the Arab people show the gulf between us and them and the need for understanding. The filming in the desert showed the beauty and harshness of the country the race took place in. It is hard to imagine anyone could finish the race given the weather and land. The only complaint I could find was the captions which described the foreign language went by so fast you could not finish them, this caused some missed dialogue. However not bad enough to detract from a fine film. Omar Shariff is great, the first time I remember seeing him was in Dr. Zhivago and he was great then and just as good now. Go See it, You will enjoy it.
