The Magic of Ordinary Days (2005)
A Magical Movie
I loved this movie. I saw it on Hallmark Hall of Fame and my husband went and purchased the DVD for me as a gift. My heart just clenched when Ray asked Livy, "Livy, is there anything you like about me?" This movie was about a mail-order marriage that turned out to be on the same scale as Hallmark Entertainment's 'Love Comes Softly' series. I could not have been happier with the uplifting ending and I have never been disappointed with any Hallmark movie. This is a movie worth seeing if you like movies that have happy endings. Keri Russell did a superb job in the role of Livy, and Skeet Ulrich was a believable Ray -- shy and trying hard to make Livy feel welcome -- although not quite on the scale of Billy in 'Scream'. All in all, I don't think anyone could be unhappy with this movie.
White Lightning (1973)
Knowing About Where it Was Filmed
Being an old movie, when I first saw 'White Lightning' with Burt Reynolds, I thought it would be a little hard to pay attention to, considering I'm used to the movies of today. It was knowing personally about where it was filmed that made me interested to see it.
Filmed partly at the Tucker Penitentiary in Tucker, Arkansas, with a few of the correctional officers who worked there at the time as extras, was easy for me to see when I was hired at the Tucker Unit by the assistant warden. The grounds are the same and the prison itself has only been improved a bit. The barracks in which a scene of Reynolds was filmed are still there, as are the guard towers and even one of the officers who was an extra.
Overall, it was an excellent movie and Burt Reynolds had established himself as a Southern star.
Dance 'Til Dawn (1988)
I Taped This!
I saw this movie when I was a little girl. As movies that appear on TV, most people don't remember a week later. This movie stood out in my mind, and years later, I found out that it was appearing on a cable channel. I immediately found a blank tape and taped the movie. One night, I mentioned it to my husband, and he asked to see the movie. It became a favorite with him, and we've watched it more than once.
If you're looking for a good '80's movie, this is one to see. You'll see all the old stars that were in your favorite TV shows, and some stars that are still in movies and TV today, such as Matthew Perry, who currently stars on Friends.
