All over the place
8 August 2023
Across the Spider-Verse is a good film, better than the first one for sure but not something that should have 8.9 rating. I'm mixed about the animation, some things look really great but the other half is nauseating. I really didn't like the phasing, the movie is more than 2 hours long and it feels like the chase scene in the multiverse takes 1/3 of the film. The Spot is a fun villain but still don't get how he suddenly goes from wanting to rob an ATM machine to wanting to destroy the entire world, don't like how he just disappeared for the rest of the film. Miguel was fun even though his backstory was also really generic. Across the Spider-Verse is a good movie, but it relies on flashy animation and fanservice to cover up it's flaws. For example, am I the only one not ok with classic Peter Parker bringing his daughter to extremely dangerous places? Or with Spider-Woman getting slammed to a train while being pregnant? Also, too many Spider-Mans are just a parody of themselves. Don't get me started with awful modern humor. Overall, the sequel is better than the first film, but even more overrated. Flawed plot, great animation, ok soundtrack, fun action, too much fanservice.

John Wick saving movies from MCU again.
25 May 2023
John Wick: Chapter 4 is better than 3, but not as good as 1 or 2. The film is entertaining enough that it doesn't feel like a 3 hour long movie but it really didn't need to be this long.

The movie has amazing visuals and settings, so many scenes can be a wallpaper especially Osaka, Cathedral, etc. The action is top-notch but a bit too excessive. It can get tedious watching Wick headshot the same generic European guy for the 50th time. That top down scene along with many others is a standout. I also really loved Donnie Yen's character and his fighting style. Scott Adkins was a good addition too. Choreography is great as always.

My main issues with the film are Nobody's character, really boring and generic, especially his dog that has massive plot armor and is shown to be invincible. Didn't we already have that with Halle Berry? Medium sized dogs can't walk off being hit by a car and tackle men 3x their size. I know it's just a movie but seeing one average dog easily kill a guy in few seconds is frustrating. Dogs aren't tigers. The main villain was also unmemorable despite Skarsgard doing a good job with what he was given.

The movie is a lot of fun, but I just can't give it an 8 as much I want to. It definitely has flaws and borrows a lot from previous films. Still a great watch. 7/10. You can see the passion and dedication from everyone who worked on this.

Could have been better.
7 August 2022
Better than what we've been getting in the recent past, but still could have been a lot better. The first hour or so was fun even though it showed some weird behavior from The Predator, randomly exposing itself and then cloaking. At first I didn't mind the main character, sure she is looked down on but she's trying, she is shown to make mistakes and be vulnerable at times. But out of nowhere she suddenly knows how to fight and grapple to the point she's able to beat men (who obviously have better training in the tribe) later on she manages to kill 5-6 trappers in a very awkward looking fight and the final fight scene with The Predator was entertaining but super ridiculous. Naru's brother should have been the main character. Also, The Predator's strength for some reason comes and goes while Naru out of nowhere develops ridiculous ninja combat skills and acrobatics. This film is a step to the right direction, but more work needs to be done.

Dollar Store John Wick
16 April 2021
I like Bob Odenkirk and decided to give this film a shot thinking maybe it's gonna surprise me but nope. Turned out to be a blatant John Wick rip off just like I was expecting it to be. Typical guy who turns out to be a "retired" badass? Check! Russian Mafia? Check! This movie is like copying someone's homework and changing only few words just to make it look yours. This time it's a cat instead of a dog and this particular "Russian" mafia now has a black/mixed member and some female henchmen, how progressive. I saw red flags from that bad wannabe realistic bus fight scene which was ridiculous and even some home invasion scenes are identical to John Wick, even the final scenes. Also, the reason Odenkirk's character comes out of retirement is because robbers accidently take his daughter's cat bracelet or something not for the fact that a robber punched his son in the face in the beginning scene. 4/10. Just another part of a fetish that Western audience has developed towards "Russian" uhh. Skolko mozhno?

Phone Booth (2002)

One of the most underrated movies of 2000s
4 February 2021
Usually movies that take place in one location don't have much rewatchability for me but this film is a huge exception. It's intense and a lot of fun in my opinion at least. Colin Farrel is really good here but Kiefer Sutherland's character is definitely the best part about this film. Main character is a sleazy, unfaithful guy who out of nowhere is held hostage by a sniper for no reason other than to seemingly have him repent for all his wrong doings. The plot sounds pretty simple but it's very entertaining from start to finish and doesn't feel tedious at all. If you're looking for a good way to spend an hour and a half then I recommend Phone Booth. R.I.P Joel Schumacher.

Good BUT
17 April 2020
Great animation, art and voice acting with a lot of good action. The story wasn't anything special but still delivered along with a lot of characters having their moment to shine except some that needed it more. My main problem with the film is that it kinda treated Johnny Cage as a joke here, I know that's his character and he was FUNNY in this but they undermined him, he never got a legit 1v1 win here and was robbed of his moment with Goro (you know what I'm talking about) overall, this movie was a pleasant surprise.

Disappointing and tasteless
16 February 2020
The film borrows too much from other movies, especially the color and visuals which were the only good thing about it. Entire movie is just a compilation of weird wannabe The Thing (1982) stuff happening under visually pretty colors. Don't waste your time. Go watch Mandy (2018) The Void (2016) or The Endless (2017) instead.

Did we all watch the same film here???
2 May 2019
Didn't really care for the film when it was first announced mostly because of the odd looking animation and the character Miles Morales, who I'm not a fan of, in this case screamed "Look! black Spider-Man gets his own movie now!" all over. But after the overwhelming praise this film got, it's every detail from animation to story-telling receiving colossal praise, I had to see it.

With all the hype, I thought I was gonna watch a masterpiece that would blow me away and boy, was I wrong. The only thing I enjoyed about this film were some dialogues from classic Spider-Man and noir, Miles felt extremely generic, another story of how someone who isn't talented or capable at first BUT gets better because he "believes in himself." of course. The villains in this are just so bad. We have one villain for a simple emotional twist, throw away villains like the FEMALE Doc Ock, Tombstone and Scorpion. And Kingpin another attempt with the overused "sympathetic villain" trope who's design is absolutely horrendous, it literally looks like his head is attached to his chest, they could have at least given him his classic white suit which they of course didn't. The plot is extremely generic and predictable, it has some decent moments but overall nothing memorable. Don't get me started on the god awful soundtrack.

My main problem with this film is the PC, SJW, diversity angle. It's just extremely conspicuous how there's such a HUGE amount of colored people even at a prestigious school that according to liberals are filled with the white privileged elite, it's just so ironic at this point. Even the villains. Either my standards are too high or everyone else's have lowered drastically. I love being proven wrong, I had low expectations when seeing Logan and John Wick 2 and I ended up loving those films. Either this movie is for a certain demographic of specific age or I'm one of the few insane people that think it's extremely overrated. Spider-Man 3 was at least entertaining, this is above everything is just boring.

Upgrade (2018)

Wasn't expecting that.
20 August 2018
When I saw this listed as horror and read the description I assumed this film was going to be about technology gaining more and more influence on society and it's unsettling effects on regular citizens but the movie depicts a different story with some aspects of what I expected to see. While the plot is centered in the near future the environment barely looks different aside from few futuristic cars and drones patrolling the city which is something that I have no problem with since the movie's plot isn't about depicting some global event. Our main character, Grey, is ambushed, has his wife killed and is left paralyzed from neck down by the weapon used on him by the assailants. However, a man he works for, who is a director of a leading tech company offers him a chance to regain mobility with a newly developed cutting-edge chip. The experiment turns out to be a massive success enabling Grey to move his body again, but the implanted chip, Stem turns out to be much more than Grey bargained for which sets up the revenge plot for the film.

The idea while not entirely original, is very well executed. With Stem's charismatic yet stoic personality and the lead actor's convincing performance which makes it quite believable that the character's body is being controlled by a foreign entity during the action scenes which are very well choreographed for this movie's budget which isn't of MCU's magnitude for sure. The action scenes were actually quite unique, making it look like that Grey's body is using Stem's precise calculation instead of a martial art to fight which is really neat. While the movie's acting is pretty decent with every actor making the most of what they're given, barely anyone is flashed out aside from the main cast. The spotlight is 95% on Grey which is not a negative trait, but would have been better if we could have seen a little more of his relationship with his wife and more development with the villains.

One thing I genuinely dislike about this film is the ever annoying "Stubborn female detective who originally came to help the main character but instead ends up trying to arrest him for vigilantism of taking down criminals SHE was supposed to find." trope which I admit I detest. There's this guy who is eliminating dangerous criminals, making the environment safer and yet HE is the main target for your investigation? that in my opinion is very contradictory in every film this trope is used in. But I'm not gonna get into dissecting that cliche. The "main" villain of this film, Mercenary named Fisk seemed interesting enough but barely had any screen time aside from a fight scene in which he somehow outperforms a supreme AI with basic Cyborg modifications and experience to the point where even Stem pleads to Grey to think of something, it was interesting but wasn't explained how. One thing I also enjoyed was the main character's cocky attitude which did seem unnatural given what Grey has been through, but enjoyable non the less.

Now what sealed the deal for me was the twist. Because maybe I didn't bother analyzing this film too thoroughly but I definitely did not see it coming. That and the ending really came as a pleasant surprise which brought everything to full circle for me.

Now the movie is not a masterpiece and might not be for everyone, but I suggest you give it a shot, you might like it or end up disappointed. See for yourself.

Ash vs Evil Dead (2015–2018)
9/10
Better late than never
6 January 2017
I gradually became an Evil Dead fan a very long time ago, not by devotion truth be told. As time flew I came across the movies, games, etc. And of course, if you are an Evil Dead fan you are a fan of Bruce Campbell. After Army of Darkness the franchise has been there, but never made another essential move aside from a traditional remake that was just OK. Then the show was announced and boy, was I excited. But after so many years? Bruce is almost 60. But after seeing first few episodes, It definitely delivered. Now Season 1 was sometimes hit or a miss with some good episodes, some bad ones. I felt unsure with new side characters Pablo and Kelly and after Season 1's anticlimactic ending I wasn't sure what to think. Going in Season 2 I had my doubts, but to my surprise, Season 2 was a colossal improvement that gave me a lot of things I wanted from Evil Dead sequel, things Season 1 lacked. Pablo and Kelly eventually grew on me an I started to care about them even more in season 2. The episodes are much better, the script has improved along with the atmosphere and everything just feels like a huge improvement and not to mention, is a lot funnier. We finally get to know Ash's character better now that we get to see his Pops and friends. While the statement that Bruce Campbell has completely absorbed Ash's character is not entirely false, with him often utilizing one-liners that are meant to arouse satire, it's Bruce Campbell. The whole point we love Ash's character is because of Bruce Campbell, it does seem that he has stopped pretending to be someone else and finally started acting as himself, which might be argumentative with some people, it's not a step back at all. If season 1 didn't do it for you, Season 2 will definitely deliver even though it has a rather messy final. There's season 3 coming and my hope's are high for it. A lot of things hinge on it as well. Let's see how it goes.

John Wick (2014)
9/10
Best movie of 2014
13 August 2015
Now, I saw this movie couple of months ago and finally decided to review it. Going in, I thought this was going to be another average, forgetful, one-time film just like most modern movies are, but boy, was I wrong. This movie restored my hope in action movies and broke the monotony that film industry has become for the last 3 - 4 years.

I haven't watched a recent movie more than one time for the last three years at least, I watched John Wick 3 times on the other hand which really says something. The thing is that, now days, movies have become business, they have become overabundant and unmemorable, as soon as the movie is released hype dies away and the movie is forgotten, but John Wick finally did something different that reminded of good old times of early 2000's. This movie will be remembered like Collateral and other modern classics.

The action is perfect, not to mention, the thing I loved the most is that the world John Wick created, the underworld/syndicate of John Wick is just so intriguing and interesting. Makes you want more, and it definitely made me want a sequel or a prequel. Keanu Reeves did an amazing job depicting the character. The background characters in this movie were also very well written in my opinion and I just love the fact about how revered John Wick is in the movie. The soundtrack is also really good.

The movie itself may not be a masterpiece of the decade, but it is a great action flick with a lot of work and thought put into it. It's a hope for the movie industry.

9/10 because this really made me happy and filled me with hope. I rather watch 20 minutes of John Wick than watch another typical Marvel or a superhero brainwashing. Thank you, John Wick for restoring my hope in movies.

Armistice (2013)

Interesting idea
10 January 2014
As a fan of war themed horror movies I was intrigued by this movie especially when I saw Joseph Morgan starring in it. While the movie is low budget and takes place in a house, it is an interesting flick with an equitably fresh idea that was new and entertaining also the lack of budget limited it quite a bit. So, a soldier of the Royal Marines played by Joseph Morgan is stuck in a house and there is no way out of there. The interesting part is that the house is supernatural and our hero needs to battle a ghoul like creature every single day which is interesting because this creature is just as much as stuck in the house as Morgan's character so it's a constant loop. The thing is that aside from a great idea I believe that the story, suspense and the plot are well performed. I saw that there was some work put into the story- line and suspense so please don't let the budget fool you. I believe that this movie had some interesting plot points. I definitely recommend it since this is one of the actual ''good'' horror movie that have come out recently. This movie is not a masterpiece but it sure is a good effort that will keep you entertained and curious. And again don't let the budget fool you. Joseph's acting is pretty good also. While this pretty much has a depressive feel to it, there is an unintentional funny scene where Joseph kills the ghoul while he's taking a bath (you'll have a chuckle once you see it yourself) I'll give it 7/10 since the movie surprised me in a way, to think that this movie would have had plot with a first look......I did not expect that. So, if you're bored make sure to see this. It's not a masterpiece but will interest you enough and make you think what would you have done if you were in that house.

Enjoyable
2 November 2013
Honestly, don't know why it got 4.2 in my opinion the movie at least deserves 5.0-6.0 yes it is a cheesy sci-fi plot, but I think it is well executed. The thing I love about Outpost movies is the atmosphere and even though I think that the film took an odd turn by going back to WW2 to have an origin story it was still well done. But we can all see that the budget of the movie isn't completely as good as the first Outpost. The acting is decent and the action is good. Plot and the story maybe little bit too cheesy, but it's a Nazi zombie sci-fi flick so what do you expect? god father? I'm actually surprised with the stern treatment Outpost movies receive. Not to mention when people call ''Dead Snow'' good it's just eerie. Even Frankenstein's army has 5.0 than this considering the fact that it is not as good. War of the dead has 4.0 even though it's not an awful disaster. This one actually had some cameos and references from the previous films including the Beethoven song that starts randomly playing once in a while in all three films (very good touch in my opinion) as far as I am concerned the movie is definitely a 5.0 - 6.0/10. It wouldn't hurt to let the logic fly out and enjoy a cheesy flick that can grant you certain entertainment.

IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes logic: if it's not a masterpiece, it's bad. Even though IMDb is a saint compared to Rotten Tomatoes. Hopefully, when more people vote it'll at least get the rating of 5.0

Well
11 October 2012
I didn't like the first one that much despite having a kick-ass cast it kinda had a weak story-line. The main thing in Expendables were the actors. And I mean of course it is great to see our favorite action stars come together including retro ones, but the movie didn't have much. It hardly had any villains to stand up to those people besides, Austin who had a decent fight scene and did kick Barney's ass, but then got killed in a very dumb way. Like i said not much of a story line, BUT the sequel changes and improves that as far as i can see.

In expendables 2 the story-line is improved, bigger cast is assembled and it has a lot better action including retro stars like Arnold and Willis and Chuck Norris shooting the hell out of everything. In expendables 2 we all so get better villains. Jean Claude Van Damme is a perfect villain and he plays a guy called ''Jean Villain'' which is a cool name, but kinda unoriginal if you get my point. For me, he stole the show, but sadly he wasn't in it much which is a let down. Also, Scott Adkins did a great job too. I really liked Boyka looks he had playing Hector. So, yes, the Villains were pretty cool in this movie. Also, there are so much good cameos and references made in the movie that it cracks me up time to time. Like the part where Dolph calls Arnold ''Terminator'' or when Arnold says his famous line. The thing is that expendables needs work on the story-line and character development. Also, it'll be nice to see them reload more often and of course cliché of 7-8 dudes killing hundreds is in there which enjoyable of course along with rest. Cheesy, but great. And that's what i like about the movie. It's not trying to be God father or Pulp Fiction. It knows that it's just trying to be a kick-ass action film to entertain fans and it is self-aware and yes, i think it does a fine job at it despite some clichés and stuff and it is an awesome movie. But now it has 7.3 and who knows? maybe even lower in other sites sadly. The thing with expendables is that: take ALL of those actors away and replace them with some random dudes. The movie won't be great, because stand-alone story-line and stuff aren't that good. Expendables 2 is a a great, especially for all retro action fans out there. But it needs to work on story-line, suspense, less-clichés and other stuff. If they improve even better for the next Expendables ( i heard Van Damme is coming back as twin brother of Villain which is cool) and give it a much better story instead of mind less shooting it will have a score of 8.0.

Now, some cons: Jet Li disappears after the intro scene, Van Damme and Adkins aren't in it much, is little bit cliché, Willis, Norris and Arny aren't in it much too and the fight scene in the and was a let down and was egotistic for Stallone. Van Damme should have got more offense instead of getting punched 50 times by Stallone, he should of kicked Stallone's ass! same thing with Adkins vs Statham. Adkins should of beat Statham's ass. And that's also cliché, because good guys go through everything with ease. There are only few scenes when they take cover. Stallone does get kinda beat up by Van damme, but not enough. Same thing with Statham vs Adkins.

Still, a good movie. 6/10 check it out.

It was good
14 September 2012
OK when I saw the trailer for this I thought to myself that this movie was gonna be another cheap ''Shark night 3d'' but no. This movie had effort put into it and it's not a cheap awful Shark Night 3D. I enjoyed the movie. The acting was good, suspense was good, it had some twists that were nice too! and a great character development with humor. I enjoyed character development and relationships and the team work was great too. Yes, the CGI shark wasn't the best, but there were a lot of good scenes with non-CGI shark and gore scenes too.

This wasn't an average flick with no effort, it was a good movie. With effort put into it and does not deserve to get trashed by dumb kids with ''oooh, the movie was bad! I expected this too be God Father, but it disappointed me!!! skip it!!! 3/10 durr'' no, and that also applies to the first user reviewer (no offense) this is not cheap bad shark money- grabber for me. It's good flick

Yes, some facts about the shark may have been unrealistic, but so? doesn't make it a bad movie, cause it's a movie! and the idea is also nice and rare. You don't see a lot of movie with sharks, tsunami, and markets.

Check it out if you like Shark horror movies. It's not a masterpiece, but it's entertaining. Don't listen to ''average'' IMDb Mr.Negatives who won't give the movie 7 unless it's Citizen Kane or Pulp Fiction. Check it out.

Asylum Blackout

One of the best horror movies i've seen lately. With great atmosphere and suspense. The set up is great and i really enjoyed the movie. It also contains some nice gore and other violent scenes along with some intense moments.

The idea is not entirely new, but it's rare and should be used more often. Inmates rioting in the asylum is a good idea for a movie and can be great if done right.

Watch this movie you'll enjoy it especially if you like insanity like me.

I simply love this movie. It has great suspense and set up is just great along with the amazing atmosphere. I really love war horror movies and this may be one of the best of it's genre. The acting is good, story-line is decent and character development is nice. And the movie also has pretty good cast in my opinion.

The Bunker and Deathwatch are alike and i think they are both great, underrated films. I enjoyed them both and recommend them.

I did notice some humor in the movie and another good touch when you see character slowly lose it and go crazy.

I simply love the film. In my opinion, it's one of the best Werewolf films ever made if not the best. Great atmosphere, good acting, and great character development along with decent action and intense moments. It's a great movie and i hope there will be a sequel one day. The character development in the film is just great. It makes you care about characters.

I am also very glad that they didn't use CGI and used suits which is million times better. I recommend this film to anyone who loves werewolves.

War of the Dead
10 September 2012
This movie started out having a score of 5.9 and went down all the way to 4 sadly. Believe it or not, I did like it. The set up and the atmosphere are great. Acting is OK. And the movie has some good action scenes to keep the audience interested. And it's one of those ''Nazi zombie'' or ''War horror'' movies that I really love. But the downfall of this movie is it's story. I think this movie would have been much better if it had bigger work put into the story. Explain more about the experiments, show some flashbacks, etc. the one thing I didn't like was that the movie is VERY fast phased.

You can see that movie does not leave out character development, but it's just not enough. Needs more character development and more dialogue and more suspense.

the movie is not bad especially if you're a fan of the genre. 6/10
