Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992)
Fun and nostalgic, it's 1992 again!
Yes, if you've never seen the TV series, such as myself, and have no expectations, you will find this film a fun and entertaining hour and twenty minutes to spend. There is a certain leisurely charm about it that is hard to put into words.
However, if you are a child of the 90s you might even love it. Seeing all those young, talented, beautiful actors and actresses we all knew and loved back in the day, that went onto bigger and greater things... You will remember all the good things about the 90s.
Especially the absence of smart phones and young people having to talk to each other face to face instead of fiddling around on the screen all day like these days.
It's 1992 again!
The Great Hack (2019)
The crime - Trump won in 2016
When Obama won in 2008, his digital strategy (which in turn was built upon Howard Dean's failed presidential bid in 2004) was lauded by the media as a sign of utter brilliance, meriting numerous positive write ups and media coverage.
In 2012 Mitt Romney, tried and failed with his ORCA system, which was correctly derided by the media as a debacle.
In 2016 Trump won. For these media and artistic types, clustered in their elitist coastal bubbles, that was the true crime. The fact his message appealed to the Obama-Obama-Trump voters that swung the election is of no importance.
In alternate history, where Hillary won in 2016, "Me too", Jeffrey Epstein, Russian meddling and other such scandals remain hidden and unaddressed by the media, because they wouldn't care.
Neither would they care about Cambridge Analytica.
But we live in the version of history where Trump won in 2016. And the coastal media elites and Hollywood, the foot-soldiers of the Democratic party, want to make sure the same doesn't happen in 2020.
We will see if it works or not...
Forensic Files: Honor Thy Father (2004)
Once a forgotten murder, now a symbol
This 1989 murder, when two Middle Eastern parents, without any shred of remorse, butchered their own daughter with a kitchen knife for dating a black boyfriend, was once just an unusual and unbelievable news story segment.
But now... This is a symbol. A warning of things to come as more people with no regard for women's rights or well-being of their daughters flood the Western liberal democracies.
There is a reason why this case is referred to by Ann Coulter years and years afterwards, now that conservative and populist movements are surging across the Western World.
Because we care about human life and love more than the primitives invading our countries do.
See this episode of Forensic Files and be warned what might be in store for us. And remember the words of that father when killing his daughter: "Quiet, little one!"... "Die, my daughter, die!"
Game of Thrones: The Bells (2019)
What a disappointment...
At 40th minute I stopped watching and will never go back to it. This is the end of the GOT journey for me. I can only regret the time and money I spent on this artistic failure. This will damage the entire idea of a long-form TV series. Never again will I allow makers of any art to make a fool out of me like this.
Game of Thrones (2011)
What a f......g disappointment
Never again will I invest myself in a long form tv series again like this, only to go through what I did in Season 8.
To the makers of what could have been, but will not be, the greatest TV show in history: you can all go f...k yourself.
Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes (2019)
Not to be predator food
This documentary perfectly sheds light on two issues that the modern Left has little interest in understanding (what with media figures and celebrities protected behind their walls, high incomes, bodyguards and ensconce in their mansions).
Capital punishment and 2nd Amendment. The right of ordinary people to protect themselves from evil like Bundy and his ilk, and the obligation to execute them to prevent exactly what has happened in Bundy's case: him escaping and killing even more women whilst he was on the lam.
There are plenty of Ted Bundy's out there. Without our way to defend and protect our selves we are just their prey.
The State (2017)
Window into Muslim paradise on Earth
Stop! Don't believe the one star reviews.
As a conservative, I too had a negative reaction to just seeing the promotional material advertising this TV Series. Mainly because I expected your usual left-wing propaganda from liberal cabal that is running the entertainment industry, hammered into my brain. Or worse, glamorizing Jihadis much like Rolling Stone did with Tsarnaev Brothers.
But I assure it is not so. I have no idea who this Peter Kosminsky is, but he did a great job of bringing the story of five British would be Jihadis going to Syria, and their travails as they battle the Kurds, Assad's Army, Western backed coalition... But mostly battle with their own doubts.
The State shows in vivid terms what was happening in parts of Syria ISIS controlled during their heyday from early 2014 to late 2017.
The State is a fascinating insight for someone like me, a citizen of the West, who was affected by it during that time period. To see all those young men and women running off to join these cruel butchers, after we threw open the doors for their parents and gave them a chance at a better life in the West...
It deeply changed me who I am as a person. From a young, left-wing liberal secular progressive I used to be during 2000s, to a right-wing conservative Atheist considering conversion to Christianity or Judaism I am today.
After only half of first episode I was immersed into it. All along, I was expecting to be suddenly disrespected, or have my intelligence insulted by bankrupt liberal ideology, but... It didn't come.
Kosminsky just told a good story. Left it to us to be the judges. Which is what a good artists should be doing. Otherwise they are not artists. They are propagandists. Did he do that because he is aware of a deep cultural shift undergoing in the Western world (trust me, I wasn't the only one who was "Red Pilled" by ISIS), or because he just happens to be a good director, it doesn't matter.
What matters is that the first 4 episodes are among the greatest I've seen in British television. The liberals might be crying how there should have been another episode explaining the motivation behind joining ISIS, presumably so the filmmakers could blame the West...
But I'm glad they didn't do it. We don't care. We are sick and tired of excuses and blame. We are furious. And I'm glad that at least for the first 4 episodes we weren't made fools of.
We don't care about "why". We care about "because". The reasons they joined ISIS? It is BECAUSE they are Muslim. Looking for a way into paradise. If not in this life then in the afterlife.
It is an immersive, vivid portrayal of people caught up in the events in Syria. Some of whom would kill us if they had the chance. Following them along their journey is a deeply moving TV watching experience. So do yourself a favour and see this show.
Sooner or later, there will be yet another Islamic State of This and That, somewhere in the Muslim World. And there will be more young Muslims joining them in droves... But hopefully some of them will see this show and think twice what they are doing.
The Ides of March (2011)
Great for political buffs
When you rate a movie it is important to measure it against what it tries to be and achieve. "The Ides of March" is a political drama. That is exactly what it succeeds at.
If you are an avid follower of US presidential politics and your expectations when you walk into the theater is to be entertained for an hour and a half watching a fictional film whose focus is solely around US presidential politics ... you will love this movie.
What I really liked about it is how it doesn't attempt to take a moral high ground or preach to the audience by driving the points with an invisible hammer into our minds.
Look... we are all adults here. People who love political films KNOW that politics are dirty and treacherous, even since the times of Roman Republic and Julius Caesar 500 years BC and onwards.
We KNOW that. So, what we want is a good story set in that environment, and that is exactly what we got.
