The History Boys (2006)
Standard gay propaganda
I enjoyed the first twenty minutes of this film and started to get suspicious when the first Jewish reference appeared and it managed to mention the Holocaust (as usual). I am bored with the continual Jewish references in Hollywood films and now they are popping up in nearly every British film too.
The film then went down the path of trying to gain sympathy for a very old gay teacher who 'massaged' his male students' genitals. I am wondering if the writer and director would have tried this scenario with a very old heterosexual teacher 'massaging' his female students' genitals.
When the leading boy, who was initially a womanising lad, asked his new History teacher for a blow job, I switched off.
Some gay propaganda would lead the population to believe that one third of the population is gay. This film had only a few characters and four of those were gay, two of them being in the same small group of boys.
What can one expect from a gay writer and director? Better than this obvious gay fantasy film, me thinks!
Mission: Impossible III (2006)
This was pleasantly different
Why they allowed John Woo to get hold of Mission Impossible II is a mystery. He's only interested in how high the flaming petrol flume can get after his amateur explosions. He needs to go to a battlefield or tank firing range to learn about what a real explosion looks like.
J.J. Abrams - what a genius. M.I.3 kept me on the edge of my seat, I wish I hadn't delayed watching it because of the mess John Woo had made of M.I.2.
Again, Tom Cruise showed that he could create tension just by the emotion on his face. The great cast of supporting actors and the twists in the tale made this an unmissable movie.
The Passage (1979)
Excellently violent - one to remember - chip chip chop chop
I saw this film years ago and am very disappointed to find that it is not available on VHS or DVD. Strange that any film my Malcolm should be unavailable as so much other dross is.
This film is very violent with some humour attached. Not the most cerebral piece of work but neither is 'The Hills Have Eyes' or 'Nightmere on Elm Street' but they are cult movies.
If this was released again, I am sure it would get an appreciable following for those with 'Bad Taste' and 'Brain Damage' - even Peter Jackson started with over the top violence & humour!
Try and get a copy and see for yourself - don't be put off by these other 'critics'.
