The Alfred Hitchcock Hour: Night Caller (1964)
Season 2, Episode 15

Hey, it's Bruce Dern!
16 May 2024
So it has to be worth watching! Once again, Bruce Dern hits his part out of the park. This AH episode, and 'Lonely Place' are terrific because of Bruce Dern's presence. He is one of the best actors, not only of his generation, but all of Hollywood. He also played his role brilliantly in Alfred Hitchcock's final film, 1978s, "Family Plot", which was also a big hit for Bruce Dern. I've followed Bruce Dern's entire career and I don't think he's ever done a poor job of acting. No mater what the role or how small, he gives it everything he's got and it shows in the final product. I grew up during the 1960s and I wish Bruce had gotten some of the parts other actors played who were good, but not in Bruce Dern's league.

Adam-12: A Fool and His Money (1973)
Season 5, Episode 21
10/10
Great acting by Don Barry
19 June 2023
Don Barry played the part of the wino as well as it could ever be played. He was absolutely excellent in his role. It was a small part, yes, but played to the hilt.

Adam-12 had many great character actors over their 8 year run, and some were really well played, and other weren't, but Don Barry was so genuine as a drunkard, living on the streets of Los Angeles.

Marin Milner and Kent McCord were always great as the cops we get to go on patrol with. Always loved this show, and nothing like it on t.v. These days. It was 'made for t.v' and not always as realistic as it must have been for many police officers back in the day, but still top notch entertainment.

Bonanza: A Question of Strength (1963)
Season 5, Episode 6
10/10
One of the best episodes of the series
28 March 2022
A very touching episode and Judy Carne, who is a comedian, did a very good job as the young nun from Ireland and Boston, hoping to make a life for herself as one of God's helpers. Dan Blocker was great as usual as 'Hoss'. This was the type episode Mike Landon talking about when he came up with 'Little House on the Prairie', and 'Highway to Heaven'. He said these 'tearjerkers' were the highest rated episodes on 'Bonanza', and did the same for his other two hit series. 'A Question of Strength' really brought a tear to your eye.

Police Story: The Hunters (1974)
Season 1, Episode 17

WOW!!! Talk about your tough cop shows on tv!
14 August 2021
This episode is very hard hitting and not recommended for anyone who is faint of heart or has become accustomed to other cop shows on television that don't really deal with the real world.

One thing I will say about this episode is that Jackie Cooper is so good in his role as a bad guy that he's scary. When you think about somebody like his character living out there on the streets of America it gives you the chills, and thankfully we have police officers and prisons!!

This episode is pretty much standard fare for 'Police Story'. It's the absolute best cop show ever shown on television. I loved Adam-12 and Dragnet, but Police Story goes far beyond any show like that.

Just a great t.v. Series that I remember watching back in the 1970s when I was in my mid-20s, and I'm sure glad it's available on cd now for younger folks to enjoy.

Police Story (1973–1980)

The best 'cop show' EVER!!!!
10 April 2021
I started watching 'Police Story' when it first aired and I still love watching it today. The '70s were 'my decade' and 'Police Story' had it down pat. A t.v. Series created by a real big city police officer, and it was hard hitting and gritty and definitely the most realistic cop show ever. The guest stars were a 'who's who' of Hollywood celebs, and that made it even more interesting from week to week. Just because someone was a star didn't mean that they couldn't get knocked off in any episode! With other police or detective shows you knew nothing was going to happen to the main character because he had to be back next week. LOL! And he always looked good and usually got the girl and all the credit because he was the hero. In 'Police Story' things were so much more like real life and bad things CAN happen to good people. Just a great television series and way ahead of its' time.

Mannix: The Silent Cry (1968)
Season 2, Episode 1
10/10
Excellent episode to start off season 2!!
7 April 2021
This was one of Mannix' best episodes. The woman who played the part of the deaf and dumb character was fantastic. I've been watching 'Mannix' since it's early days and Mike Connors was the best t.v. Private eye ever to grace the small screen. Today he can be watched on your own big screen at home! LOL!!

I like Joe Campanella and the first season fine, but the late great Bruce Geller knew what he was doing when he had Mannix go into business for himself and leave the computer's behind. The show didn't last 8 seasons because Geller made the wrong move, that's for sure! Mike Connors and Gail Fisher made a great duo as Peggy and Joe Mannix. The program became so much better AFTER season 1.

Wanted: Dead or Alive: Til Death Do Us Part (1958)

A Natural Beauty!
29 January 2021
This is one of the so-so episodes of "Wanted: Dead or Alive", but having Mala Powers in it makes it worth watching! She was beautiful with a body to match! Even the long 'canvas' of a skirt can hide the fact that she is all woman!

Anything featuring Bruce Dern...
6 December 2020
Has got to be good!!! One of the very best character actors, and a Hitchcock favorite, for good reason! Dern was lead character in Alfred Hitchcock's final film, "Family Plot", and as usual, Bruce Dern played his role perfectly.

Corny AND bad!!
18 April 2019
I was a high school senior in 1967 and this movie is a fantasy of that era if there ever was one. Bobby Vee was a pretty good singer back in the day, and I like listening to his music, but he could forget about being an actor. He was as terrible in this as the movie itself. This movie made the 'Frankie & Annette' movies look like best movie Oscar winners!

Bonanza: Hoss and the Leprechauns (1963)
Season 5, Episode 12
10/10
The top episode of the country's top rated western.
12 January 2018
I was 14 years-old when this episode aired in December of 1963. We had about 12 boys in our neighborhood including my younger brother and myself. Of course we always watched Bonanza on Sunday nights, and never laughed so hard in our young lives! "Hoss and the Leprechauns" was all we talked about for days. Very enjoyable and certainly did air at a time when we all needed a lift in America after what happened to our President just a short time before. I've had this episode on DVD for years and pull it out every once in a while to have a good laugh and bring back a little bit of 1963, and the good memories that it conjures up.

Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Don't Interrupt (1958)
Season 4, Episode 2
YUCK!!!!
9 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I've been watching AH t.v. episodes for 60 years and this is by far the worst of the lot. If you want to waste a half hour of your life then watch this episode, 'Don't Interrupt!' The only thing it looks like this episode is trying to prove is how low a black man will go to get a dollar! The black waiter player by Scatman Cruthers is able to snag a silver dollar from a little white boy who doesn't know he dropped it, and that's what we're left to ponder at the end of the episode. REALLY?!?! They woudn't allow garbage like this on today's t.v.! And that's saying a lot when you think about the garbage that IS shown on t.v. night after night here in the year 2018!!

One of the best episodes of the series
24 December 2017
At the half way point of the episode this turns into a very interesting and exciting story. It's one of the best of the 'Father Knows Best' series in my opinion. It really grabs you the first time you watch it and you feel like your sitting right there in the Anderson's living room!

anyone know Phil?
12 July 2014
Just wondering if anyone knows who played the part of 'Phil', the President's press secretary? He is not listed anywhere.

His face is familiar to me, but I just can't recall his real name or where I've seen him before.

Anyone? Anyone? Please? Thanks! Just wondering if anyone knows who played the part of 'Phil', the President's press secretary? He is not listed anywhere.

The Twilight Zone: Night Call (1964)
Season 5, Episode 19

Night Caller
26 April 2014
I was 10 years-old when Twilight Zone ran it's first episode: "Where Is Everybody", and I was hooked!!! In it's time there was nothing like it on television. TZ remains the best show ever on network t.v. as far as I'm concerned. I was 15 in 1964 when "Night Call' aired, and it spooked the Hell out of me!! I watched it recently, late at night with the lights off and it still was scary to watch. The hair stands up on the back of my neck just thinking of this episode. If you like being frightened by your mind and not special effects, then this is the TZ episode for you!!! There will never be another writer like Sterling and his TZ pals or another show quite like the Twilight Zone. PS-This episode takes place in the state of Maine, New England, USA, and NOT in England across the pond.

Not bad at all
24 December 2013
Especially if your a long time Newhart fan like myself. AND, anything featuring Joyce Jameson is MUST SEE T.V! What a knockout she was!!! It's such a tragedy that all her great talent and beauty was pretty much wasted. So sad.

Also enjoyed seeing the old 'Cleaver House' used in this episode. TAHH was shot on the same location as the old "Leave It To Beaver" series that ended just when these 1963 Hitchcock shows were being filmed.

It was pretty cool seeing the Cleaver home used by another family.

I also enjoyed seeing Bob Newhart at the start of his career, before he had his own t.v. series. I was 14 years-old in 1963, and I don't think I had yet heard of Bob Newhart.
