really really bad

I completely agree with the other comment someone should do a What's up tiger Lily with this film.

It has to be one of the worst french films I've seen in a long time (actually along with Brotherwood of the Wolves, 2 horrendous films in a much too short period of time).

It's really sad because the cast is really interesting and the original idea kind of fun. Antoine DeCaunes in particular and Jean Rochefort being among my darlings, I was bitterly disappointed to see them compromised in such a poor film.

Lou Doyon is quite bad, as usual which goes to prove that a pretty face and famous parents can get you into the movies but they don't necessarily give you talent.

avoid this film, if you want to laugh watch an Alain Chabat instead or some nice period piece full of fun like LA FILLE DE D'ARTAGNAN.

Tout le monde en parle (1998–2006)
love to hate it

this show was very good when it first started but as everything, with time it withered and just became typically Ardisson: blotted self-indulgent and frankly too tacky.

however, this show is or at least used to be (when I was still living in France about a year ago) the must see of the week, just to know what's hot and what's not and particularly to have something to criticize with your friends on Monday mornings. The show has had its really good times and has tried to attract international celebrities over the last few years. But Ardisson's absolute lack of tact repelled some such as Milla Jovovitch.

After the show's initial success, Marco Fogiel, ex protégé and nowadays arch enemy of Ardisson, launched another show called On ne peut pas plaire à tt le monde (you can't please everyone) on the same principle but with less sex (reason why it was moved to prime time). Funnily enough both shows are featured on state owned TV channels and are proof of France Télévision's need to make money and desire to appeal to a young and "hip" audience (Ardisson has been considering himself as the epitome of cool for the last 20 years... hum hum).

Nice try, but I think that by now they need something new. Ardisson should perhaps go back to his Kingdom of Paris Première. If you can stand the man, that channel who features him all the time in several shows, is actually pretty interesting in terms of cultural mags ... but is sometimes even too Parisian and elitist for me. It's still a very good cultural experience and is extremely French for all the good and bad that it implies.

Ram Jaane (1995)
angels with dirty faces bolly style
9 November 2004
I was quite excited when I saw that this movie was a gangster flick with my favorite Indian actor, Shahrukh Khan, nevertheless SRK's mere presence doesn't make the film any better, actually for once I think it makes it worse.

The movie is a pathetic remake of WB's Angels with dirty faces starring James Cagney (in the part taken by SRK) and I think that SRK has mixed up a lot of Cagney with a bit of Amitabh Bachchan's simpleton in Don (the chewing thing). But this cocktail rather turned me off. Though I sincerely love him, his overacting is truly dreadful, one of the worse performances of his career, but the rest of the cast, though less excessive, is not this wonderful either. The film is replete with a series of nerve-raking songs that never end, when I saw SRK and Juhi on a boat near a sunny desert island, it was really too much!!

Moreover it seems to last forever! The first half hour is tolerable, and has a very nice action scene in a bar. If you wondered where Farah Khan got the great idea of SRK sliding on his knees between the legs of a villain in Main Hoon Na, that's where she got it, and it works damn well. But apart from that there is not much to save.

A pity to remake an overall good US film into a dreadful Bollywood flick, nevertheless they have been luckier with other remakes such as Nayakan (Mani Ratnam) which is a remake of the Godfather and really worth watching.

Keep trying boys ! my grade: 4/10 (5 if U like the fact that SRK never wears a shirt under his jacket, which is pretty sexy but useless)
