Ninja: Shadow of a Tear (2013)
Maybe back in the 80's...
This movie must have traveled forth in time from the early 80s,because it's exactly like those ninja/samurai B-action movies from that era.
The acting ranged between passable to mediocre.
The sound was out of sync by half a second, but perhaps that was just the streaming service.
The final cut of the movie left weird little scenes here and there, that felt... WRONG, like they were pasted from another movie but with the right actor.
The script was awful. Dude gets superb training. Wife gets killed (which is told even in the description of the movie, so that's no spoiler). Rage and vengeance ensues. Like sooo many movies from 30-40 years ago.
I have no idea why this movie is rated so high.
It's... so bad! And this is from someone who loves ninjas, and also badass-movies like Taken, Jackie Chan-movies, old Chuck Norris and other such movies, but this was just... THAT bad.
Memory (2022)
It's better than the score tells you!
This movie is probably something that you've seen before, but it also is a "comforting" action movie. Some have said it's too long, but I didn't look at the watch, waiting for it to be over.
There's the anger you may have for corruption in the police departments, the frustration that rich people goes unpunished, the hope people have for making a better life for themselves, and the hope YOU have for watching a movie with a couple of twists, mostly decent acting, and some action.
If you loved Taken, you will at least like this, and if you want a movie with an ending that doesn't drain your mood, this is a movie for you.
Day Shift (2022)
From Dusk till Dawn meets Equalizer
A good movie to watch when you're in the mood for action and comedy. As always, Denzel, Snoop Dog, Peter Stormare and some others, are playing their roles to perfection, and even though there might be rare occasions when you don't expect what's going to happen, there are small surprises here and there. I had no expectations other than that I wanted to have a good time, and I was certainly not disappointed. Throughout the movie, the great camera angles, special effects, sound and characters all contributed to a movie I can watch again in a year or two.
Moonlight in Vermont (2017)
Pretty standard romantic comedy.
Good for evenings when you are tired and can't concentrate on a movie, but not tired enough to sleep. All throughout the cast, the performance was good or better, but there wasn't exactly twists, so here's a movie for you who like those.
The Toymaker (2017)
Jeez, this was bad.
Long and boring scenes, probably meant to be dramatic and beautiful, leads to this old man (worst makeup-job in a loong time), and his helper, and... well, let's just say that the make-up done on the old man was the best part of the movie.
I have no idea why the first half of the movie was about a family that doesn't need to be in the movie, at all.
Comment je suis devenu super-héros (2020)
Surprisingly good!
I've watched many movies from different countries for many years, and French movies tends to have a certain "feel" to it that I'm usually not fond of, but without a doubt, this is the best French movie I've ever watched, and I would say that even if a French movie was in the top 20 on my list.
Great CGI, great and believable acting, good story and some surprises along the way.
I will definitely watch French movies with a more open mind in the future. Very good job, indeed!
