Too many reviewers here are really over thinking the whole movie. It seems people want a film to be what 'they' want it to be these days, as if they can't just enjoy what a great piece of work this is. Being 60+ and having seen everything from the silents to all the new CGI stuff I love flicks and know what I'm talking about. "Smokin' Aces" is entertaining from start to finish with well acted and staged scenes photographed and edited very smartly. I was watching close enough to see the student/mentor relationship of the FBI partners and the mind set of the Piven character. Try watching this by just sitting back and taking in what's going on and you will have a great time. Your wish that every film will be exactly what you want it to be hampers your ability to be entertained. Kids, expectation is the open door to disappointment. Relax! Enjoy.

This film was far better than all the reviews I have seen so far would indicate, you should give it a chance if you're a sci-fi fan. It was not made with a huge budget and not centered around one big star attraction type of actor. The talented cast was excellent and the special effects were very good for this $$ level of film entertainment. The story was just one way that the script writer(s) could have gone from Ray Bradbury's very short story, preposterous but that's what you must have with this kind of highly imagined fiction. I expected a lot less than I received and am therefore very pleased. I love science fiction and am critical of a lot of the junk made in this genre, so I am not that easy to please. Worth viewing for the acting, well directed story and the special FX people's wild conception of CGI creatures.

This film was such a heap of flushable waste that I suggest all who view it wash their hands afterward. If someones wants to make this kind of story into film and broadcast it on a big network they should stick to full fiction rather than try to make it look like it has a credible fact base. This has no such base, anyone who has read the Bible can tell you that. I will not make myself a preacher here, but I really am offended by this thing and am sorry it was given such a large audience. Just let me say this, the true translation of the word Antichrist in the Bible book Revelation (not plural, it's one vision John had), that word means "instead of Christ", as in someone who will pretend to be Christ. This entity will not reveal himself as an evil being, he will try to convince the populace that he is good in order to draw away the true followers of the true Messiah. I hope that people are not convinced by this garbage and should watch carefully as they will be fooled by those pretending to be good, not someone who shows their true evil nature. Also please note, I know people who were in prison and those institutions are not full of people who will go against Christ in some awful army. Most of them are sorry about doing wrong and many are repentant people who would rather do good with their lives if given the chance. This movie is crap!
