She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
3 episodes in, a delayed train in rain and I'm sad
To start, from the trailers I had a bad vision of how this would turn out. I didn't really like the tone, the cgi, or the hinted storylines from the trailers. However I gave it a go and the first episode was pleasantly surprised, I didn't think the tone was great but, I thought the She-Hulk character had premise. The CGI was obviously improved from the trailer so that was not too bad either. I was away for the release of the second episode so I ended up downloading 2 and 3 to watch at some point. That time came when my train home from a long day's work was delayed and I decided to sit and enjoy the 2 episodes to distract me. In the end, it turned out that the rain was more interesting. I'm shocked at how little they develop the character and how they essentially make her a stereotypical Romcom/sitcom character from the 90/00s. Despite how hard they try to (literally) state that she is a fresh, real woman for the screen, she is actually just ridiculously underdeveloped. She-Hulk doesn't do anything. They don't show her as a strong woman, all she seems to do is sneer, deride and be rude to people who support her. She constantly refers to sexism in situations that are so basic you can see they are trying to literally just show that. We don't see her lawyering skills in fact she seems to be shown as flustered and incompetent. Less Harvey (Suits) more Mr Bean and we don't see her use her newfound strength to do much either. I don't really know who would enjoy this.
Moon Knight: The Goldfish Problem (2022)
Not sure where these 9/10 ratings are coming from
I was very excited to watch Moon Knight brought to screen with high production values and to introduced to the MCU. But compared with other Disney + MCU shows, I thought some of the CGI was dreadful, particularly in the car chase scene, it honestly came across like they were trying to save money by having little in the way of special effects and not investing in CGI which for a Marvel production like this is important. Obviously this is early doors, there is room for development but I thought it felt flat and fell short of my expectations and the usual standards of MCU in recent years.
The Walking Dead: Swear (2016)
Lot of harsh reviews but not a good episode
The constant back and forth structure is a bit annoying. The female community are interesting but, I'm not too much a fan of Tara's character here and the way she is presented. The episode is very slow and padded out in places. It's definitely setting up for multiple groups to come together against Negan which is fine but it seems like what must be millions of walkers have been almost eradicated and that the odd one or two might appear and a few on the bridge who seem to be completely unable to hear/see or smell. So it makes them easy to dispatch. Ultimately a filler episode to bring Tara back to Alexandria and introduce the community of females. Not bad just not food either.
