Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less (1990)
Campy, but fun
Definitely campy in its tone.. Though they make changes for 1990 (story is set in mid-1970's). But it is fun to watch. Same lines as in the book - they tried to stick to the source material with some changes in character back stories. It definitely deserves a remake, with some more panache.
Portrayal of Metcalfe was impeccable. He was played very well. The English roles are played well too - as for the time period in which it was built. A lot of the mistakes were kept in the film - and they somehow make it quite interesting as well. I felt they did a lot of "improvise" in making of the movie as well.
Yesterday (2019)
Beatles - so obviously songs are great, but good story too!
We were not expecting any great plotline or story. After all it is like Mamma Mia - movie based on songs of a famous band. But it was fantastic! We enjoyed the songs, we enjoyed the romance between the main leads & it had a happy ending. The entrance from John Lennon was absolutely fun as well - I am sure that gave a closure to a lot of people. Performances need to get praised - even more when the lead sings the songs. Wife is a secret admirer of Romcoms, but after this movie, she couldn't contain her happiness. So, if you are in the mood for a Romcom, which does not have a whirlwind pace, and you don't mind hearing "Hey dude..." (which cracked me up), go for it.
Folk med ångest (2021)
Whodunit with a humane touch
Was being pushed by Netflix to watch it for all the obvious reasons - been watching too many crime dramas. But this one turned out to be a true gem. Even with textbook coincidences & people simply falling in love with each other, at some point I fell in love with the series. We literally binge watched it over two days. Last two episodes made me cry.
