Spycraft (2020)
The producers must be comedians
I've just watched the first episode, and boy, was it painful to watch.
SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!
After all Mr. Snowden revealed, about the spying programs US government uses against their own citizens, which, in the first episode, lasted about 15 seconds, the writers of the show dedicated a whole segment, I guess more than 5 minutes, discussing the surveillance in CHINA, of all countries.
Sure China is highly monitored country, but US is not far from them. There are face recognition cameras in airports, bus stations and lots of places.
The NSA has wire tapped the whole cell phone communications, there's the Prism project, which employs big data and fuzzy logic, to spy on the citizens, but no, it's not mentioned.
Oh, folks, what a let down.
Du bi quan wang da po xue di zi (1976)
Well, perhaps you may like it...
Well, what can i say about this movie??? The script is confuse, the acting is awful, the story... Story? What story? There's no story. Everything is just an excuse to have some fights. Well, the fights are good. Finally we get to see where was Dhalsim borne from... Well, the script is so stupid, that we see a fight between Waykuma Wins-Without-a-knife and the one armed boxer because the first wants to take the eagle claw kung fu girl with him to Japan and the second one doesn't want to let her go. And, just for this simple reason, they have a hell of a fight...
Well, if you want to laugh out loud, this movie is for you. But, don't expect nothing in the level of the Shaw Brothers or Bruce Lee...
Dark Resurrection (2007)
Well, as far as production values are concerned...
Nice movie, acting above average. Well, for what i've seen in the screen, the actors looked like pro, not amateurs. Well, they look like theater actors. But their acting is way better than revelations. The photography is also superb, with a lens filter that creates a nice foggy effect. The drawback is the story, that's somewhat confusing. And has some inconsistencies with the star wars jedi canon. Pretty impressive in the format, but somehow, it lacks content. But, it has some nice light saber fights and some good visual effects. Nice landscapes also. The locations were very beautiful. Good, but not great.
Doom (2005)
Well, it's strong enough to walk with its own feet
Well, just watched DooM, and, i liked.
It has superb moments, those that really put you in the edge of your seat, and, it is so for the most parts of the movie.
The movie goes, always, in a fast pace, with lots of action, and, being so, it does not give time to develop the characters more. They are briefly presented, and then, tossed into action.
The high points are: Even compared with Aliens(which i think, was the inspiration for the original video game) this movie stands up, on its own feet, and has enough creativity and punch to deliver the story until the end.
It has its flaws too... And the one Flaw, that doesn't go away, is(and here go spoilers) Why they don't have a night vision? You see, everything is so hi tech, and the space marines don't have a green vision(like the Paris Hilton Video - hehehehehehe) All in all, it's a worth movie, and, a very well crafted piece of film, paving the way from video games to movies in a very good sense.
Casshern (2004)
No, I will not spoil it...
Well, i saw this movie, and man, i still don't know if i love it or hate it. In fact, i'm not scoring any vote for it, because if a give it a number, would be unfair.
There are great points. The oppressive atmosphere created by the director and amazingly achieved with the visuals(all made with CG) it's very well done. It reminds me a sort of Orwell's 1984. Very well done.
The low points... The story... It's awful... There are so many twists and turns in the plot, that you don't know who are the good guys nor who are the bad guys. And this starts at the beginning and goes this way until the end. At the end, you spent two hours and half and don't know who are the heroes, who are the villains, and... Above of all... What's the point of all this story? Of all the happenings in the plot? What's the line to follow? I don't know. If i recommend it? Well, as for a curiosity, yes, i recommend it. But don't try to get any meaning from it. Watch it as it is. Well, perhaps sometimes the director is too ambitious in his will to portrait an epic of modern days, and, falls short trying.
L'armata Brancaleone (1966)
One of the BEST MOVIES EVER!!!
Well, i first saw this movie when i was an 8 years old kid, and boy, this movie really made an impression in me. I remember our TV set was an old Phillips 550, a B&W TV set, a valve model( a transistor TV set?, no... It was too expensive then). And, i could never forget it. The movie is perfect, the wardrobe, the scenery, the acting... Well, you see, they don't take their roles too seriously(except for Gassman, but, it's intentional), and this shows a face of history that, could have happened... Say... No heroism (well, a little...) and the rest, cynicism and many conflicts of interests(each one is trying to have his piece of the cake, in this case, the fortified city and it's treasures) Thank god it was released in DVD, here in my country. And here's an advice: Go get yours. You won't regret. It is an ageless movie, that is near forty now, and, does not lose it's impact.
