Insatiable (2018)
I am morbidly obese and I am not offended
I think people who say it's body shaming is missing the whole point of the show - it shows how one harbours insecurities with or without fat - it's a refreshing show that highlights how damaged we all are, despite our size
Severance (2006)
Not at all what i was hoping for
I was disappointed with this film. From the trailers I thought it would be as funny as 'Shawn of the Dead' but sadly I was wrong. It was just another bunch of clichés and nothing original with minimal comedy content (at least 'Shawn' used the clichés for comedy. I thought it was 'The Wrong Turn' (which was a diabolical film in itself) meets '28 Days Later' (which is a brilliant film!). I cannot convey my disappointment as with the cast and the potential plot of how one of those stupid office days out could go ridiculously wrong was taken a little too seriously for my liking and fluffed it. Sorry, but I want my money back as this film did not live up to it's Brit black comedy promise.
The Village (2004)
Why do they let this man make movies
I really have to wonder who is deciding to waste their money letting M. Night Shamalayan make his movies. I have to say that since the sixth sense his movies have gone downhill rapidly. Unbreakable was good but not up to the standards of the sixth sense. Then there was the signs, which was a film that just kept building and building the tension...and went absolutely nowhere. I must say that when I saw the trailers for the village, I actually thought that he may have made some kind of an effort......oh i was wrong. It, as M Night seems to master, builds itself up and up and once again has an extremely disappointing climax....(if you can even call it a climax). If he thinks he's clever with his fetish of the colour red, to be honest it's just starting to get boring. I can honestly say I find nothing redeeming about this film (other than some very good acting by certain members of the cast)...but from a writing, directing and producing point of view I think M. Night should retire from filmaking before the funders realize that he isn't capable of recreating the success of the sixth sense
Cabin Fever (2002)
Now this one is scary, cos it's real
Wow, as a doctor in the UK I must say that i absolutely loved this film. I love horror flicks but i always find that they do not scare me. The predictable horror characters fail to thrill..although the jeepers creepers movies and the scream movies deserve to be seen. After seeing 28 days later (a movie that set it's opening scene in a United Kingdom population wiped out by a virus) I was a little intrigued by that plotline. In no way does the movie "cabin fever" rip off that plot. It's very gory, very scary and will make you itch very much after this film. I take the point that a lot of people have complained about the lack of actors or acting ability in this film, but i must say that the story line more than carries this film, and in modern society i think this is a greater threat to society than random babysitter killers or horrible mutants anyday - as virus warfare is very real! now this film really is scary and is done in a very good way - this film is very anti-cliché and I think it should get the credit it deserves See this film please it's great and certainly doesn't fail to shock..it gave me nightmares and horror movies NEVER do that to me!
Wrong Turn (2003)
Don't bother!
I'm sorry, i'm not usually critical about movies, but i must say that this was almost the worst movie i've ever seen. It ripped off just about every horror movie in history and it didn't even do it in an original way!! Very predictable and very boring. I've seen scarier underwear ads. The so-called "mutants" were laughable they weren't far off Chuck from "the goonies" - in fact I think he was more scary. Rather than wasting your money renting or buying this don't bother watch cabin fever instead (especially if you like the "in a cabin in the middle of the woods" thing - a far better choice! The best part of the movie was the scenery...it's the only reason to see the film.
