Spark: A Space Tail (2016)
Pretty darn good story
I personally thought the story was very well done. I was impressed with character of each of the characters. The designs of the characters was good, however the backgrounds in the movie for being CG were definitely on the low budget side, but everything else was really pretty top notch, especially with not having the financing available for other studios. The story was full of very well thought out comedy, not over the top, but quite funny. It was nice also to watch a kids movie that wasn't trying to slip in nasty jokes or situations that should never be in kids movies. There were a few transitions in the story that could have done with a little bit more filler to make the transitions smoother, maybe to due needing to get the movie released, or to make it fit within a certain time frame, or just not having unlimited resources to do more animating. Watch the movie with your kids or just know that it will be safe for your kids to watch on their own. I'm 50 and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it, of course I never truly 'grew up' as I still like to watch all kinds of movies, even if they are cartoons.
Monster Trucks (2016)
OK, but leftist Hollywood cant help themselves (SPOILER)
The movie was a very simple story line. Yes, kids might enjoy the movie. The following may be seen as a spoiler. Make a big look creature that has an appearance of being cute, kinda looks a lot like the monster in the CG animated movie 'How to train your dragon', only instead of flying, it rides underneath the hood of a truck, hence the term 'monster truck'. The parts of the movie that I despise is how Hollywood can not seem to make a movie where they have to interject their twisted hatred of something, or anything that that they seem to act on the surface that they hate. In this movie, it had to be the 'mean oil companies' that they just had to make the 'bad guys' who want to kill all the cute monsters to make a buck. Hollywood loves to make either conservatives in government the bad guys, or oil companies, or hunters, or gun owners,or any other group they choose to make look bad. It just gets under our skins when they can't even leave it out of a kids movie. They have no end to how low they won't stoop, or how far they won't go to show they have no shame. Next, they'll make a movie with little pink knitted hats and they'll be the superheroes.
iZombie (2015)
Love this series!
This series is one of the most unique and interesting series I have watched in a very long time. The characters are amazing and extremely well acted. They take their roles seriously in the way they portray whats taking place, such as the actress playing the role of the main zombie Olivia Moore, she has to take on a different role for each episode, which must take some astounding coaching to get each role believable. The actor playing Clive Babineaux does a great cop, so hopefully he'll get more roles if this one plays itself out. Ravi is an intelligent character who is having to deal with all that he knows is taking place yet trying to keep everything hush hush. Major seems to be the only character to have a difficult time trying to figure out his part in the whole series. The personality of Blaine is well thought out and portrayed through the series (he plays a believable bad guy). If they can keep one series going, I truly hope that this one has a lot of life left in it!
Shingeki no kyojin (2015)
This was a great rendition converting anime to movie
I personally thought that this was a great rendition converting anime to movie. Most movies from other stories really destroy the awesomeness going from a book or anime to movie, but this movie really did a stand up job in making the story come to life. The graphics were simply amazing, surpassing most American made movies with our CG attempts. The sets were stunning to say the least! the expense they must have put into this movie must have been staggering. I hope that the follow up movies after this take and include at least the same standard as this first in hopefully a complete series. I would say that this movie is easily on par with the Lord of the Rings series here in America. Sure, you have to read the subtitles, but for a movie this good, it was so worth it! If you loved the anime, watch this movie. Sure, some things don't line up with the anime series, but hey, they had to condense it to something that would work on the big screen. If you hadn't anything else to compare this movie to, then it is perfect! Watch it, most won't be disappointed, while some people wouldn't accept it unless it followed every sentence used in the anime, which would never happen in any movie of any story, so ignore the naysayers, you shouldn't be disappointed.
