Courage the Cowardly Dog (1999)
Purely Genius!
Courage the Cowardly Dog is one of my childhood's fondest memories. Most of the episodes are dark, creepy, yet brilliant and makes you think. I rarely see shows like Courage nowadays. The voice actors are talented and perfect for the roles of Courage, Muriel, Eustace, the smart aleck computer, etc. There's also hidden meanings and morals in most of the episodes. In 'Mask,' there are references to feminism and domestic violence. In the episode where Courage discovers that one of the library books he borrowed from the local library are overdue (I forgot the name of the episode), the moral is "return what you owe." There are also some creepy, and sometimes downright disturbing episodes. There was an episode that haunted me for years, but yet, I love it; it's called 'King Ramses' Curse.' 'King Ramses' Curse' is one of the many episodes of Courage that would scar you for life. The antagonist of the episode (or should I say "victim of Eustace's greed," considering Eustace stole what isn't his) is the undead King Ramses, whose slab was stolen by Eustace, and he told them to "return the slab or suffer my curse" (one of the most memorable quotes from the show). Despite its scary episodes, it's a very good show overall. Both kids and adults can watch it and love it because it lacks childish humor, all of the characters are lovable, makes you think, etc. Too bad Cartoon Network cancelled this show so they could make room for their stupid, new shows. If you have never watched this show before and you find a DVD of it or it just happens to be on the air, I highly recommend you watch it; you won't regret it.
Shark Night 3D (2011)
A cliché horror flick
This movie is basically a Jaws and Friday the 13th mash-up. The actors were amateurs, the plot was stale, and it had terrible CGI effects (seriously, the sharks look totally fake). My dog could create a better film than this trash. Speaking of dogs, the only scene that genuinely scared me (or surprised me would be a better term) was when one of the bad guys threw the dog off the boat; that's why I gave this movie a 3/10. The ending was so predictable; I knew the shark was going to jump out of the water. Unlike most of todays cliché horror films, this movie didn't have much nudity in it (that doesn't mean there isn't any nudity at all, though).
Anyways, you can watch the movie yourself and see what you think. I'm just one person with my own opinion. I think this movie is trash, but if you can stomach trash, then you can handle this film.
Switched at Birth (2011)
A really good show!
When I first saw the trailer for this show, I was really tempted to watch it. The reasons why I was interested: 1) The title because I didn't know how a hospital can mix up two babies. 2) It had Constance Marie, who played my favorite character from George Lopez, Angie and Vanessa Marano, who played April from Gilmore Girls (she wasn't actually my favorite character from the show, but her acting was great)
What I love about this show is that after the pilot, I couldn't wait for the next episode because I wanted to know what would happen next. I also thought that the acting was spectacular. I loved the cast members as well, most of them I never even heard of. I'm just so glad I can see Constance Marie on television again.
This show is just so amazing and I highly recommend it for anyone who hasn't watched this show yet.
