Colin in Black and White (2021)
Unbiased Review
I watched this and noticed how divisive the reviews were (I had to Google who Collin was).
This was a genuinely interesting series of an individual's mindset on their road to living out their dreams. It reflects on society, race, culture, and opportunity.
A lot of critical comments here saying that the series was "too one sided"... well it is autobiographical. So that's deliberate.
It was fine, I learnt some perspective as well.
Schumacher (2021)
Why?
Firstly, Michael Schumacher is an absolute legend of sport in general. If he isn't the greatest driver of all time, he's nominated.
But... not all is rainbows and sunshine in his rise to the top, he wasn't always the good guy. He wasn't always the cleanest driver. I feel as though this missed opportunities to go deep into major moments of his career.
It's a nice high level overview of his rise to the top I suppose. It's a far cry from the Senna documentary or drive to survive.
Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
MJ must now be the GOAT
Michael never made us sit through 2 hours of absolute utter dog defecate.
I was so excited by the idea of this movie. The thought of the server universe and all of the WB IP existing in its own digital universe I thought was really intriguing.
In reality this movie seems like it was written by listening to kindergarten kids listing good ideas for a movie and merging it all unfiltered into a 2 hour snooze-fest. The movie goes nowhere and has no message.
Enola Holmes (2020)
Rather vague
Warning! This movie glosses over one of the major plot themes. The ending reminds me of a creative writing piece in a high school exam. That one where you've just ran out of time and had to wrap up before 'pencils down.'
I like the idea of this though, what it's trying to be.
The Final Quarter (2019)
Fantastic message - there's a better alternative
This is a great look into our country and our shortcomings, our mistreatment of one of our great citizens.
However the film is just a compilation of of archive footage, we're given no insight into the feelings, meaning or thought process to key people involved.
I would say the Australian dream by Stan Grant Is a more thorough look into these events.
