Black Lightning: The Book of Occupation: Chapter One: Birth of the Blackbird (2019)
So strong, I can only take this show in small doses
I love this show. The white power structure failed me, a sad little white kid with glasses, from first grade onward. White kids picked on me. This show is like home. ... If home were very well-written, very dramatic, and very scary.
For health reasons, I generally stick to happy, fun shows, so I followed up Season 3, episode one with some of one of Netflix softer shows, "Puss in Boots."
But I'll be back for "Black Lightning," as soon and as often as I can stand. It's so good to see so many hard-working, talented people getting to show what they can do, without needing to be white.
Stargirl: Icicle (2020)
Just one mess-up
Icicle's civilian ID was actually on-board with saving the theater, so he would have been at their first meeting, at 6:30, instead of super villain things. He could have done that later, and it would have been easy. I've seen the new technology available that allows post-production to change the lighting to night time.
And they have a lot of explaining to do, because Icicle is deciding a lot of people who don't really stand in his way ... actually are. I love that he's done such a good job raising his son. It keeps the teasers about probable fascism from being to broad and heavy. This is a great way to get people, especially young people, to pay attention.
I just hope they can follow up, and spent the money for good advisers on political movements, economic movements, cognitive dissonance, and sociopathy.
