Rugal (2020)
Sadly dissapointing
I'm struggling to make sense of the seires. Started quite interesting with some promising CGI and cool f/x. The further you get into the episodes, the less sense it makes. The actors tried to make this interesting, but there are so many plotholes and you end up with more questions.
Let us start with the "Rugal"-program. What was the point of it? It's purpuse? So dead people can wake up from the dead? What about Argos... It begins with being a company that produces something. We never get to know what, medicine? Drugs? No idea... The boardmembers kill eachother for power, still no info what they will gain apart from moving up the ladder. The evil lad plays his role good, because you really start to hate him. But why he ends up being so bad is still unclear. Furthermore, the incredibly anoying issiue with noone dearing to kill the evil lad despite numerous possibilites, is just sad.
The series could have been shorten, because you lose interest after the 6-7.th. Episode. Yes it has glimpses of potential, but lacks the convincing part. The director is probably to blame for this..
Archive 81 (2022)
Quite enteraining
The series has its heights and lows. The high is this X-files-feel, the mystery, the darkness, the questions and confusion, quite good actually. The low must be that the acting could have been a bit better in a way. Some of the characters lacked a bit of personality. And its easy to feel that with eight episodes, it should have been possible for them to leave a mark. Yes, there are better and similar stories out there, like "Dark" (also Netflix), but Archive 81 was entertaining in its own way, despite the use of fastforward in several episodes.
Seungriho (2021)
Nice CGI, but what a load of crap
Sorry Netflix.
The effects were nice and a nice try, but this was just poor. Story is interesting, concept too, but this was a fast forward movie that I would have done myself. Good attempt, but just sad.
Mulan (2020)
Inspirering, but to its full potential
Disney is known for beautiful movies and memorable moments we all grew up with. Those aspects can be found in this movie as well, but it is difficult to make a martial arts movie that is supposed to be child-friendly as well.
Mr. Yan and Mr. Li are have made martial art-movies in a class of its own and so it's a bit weird to see them in a movie where they're not expressing themseles like I'm personally used to. Mr. Yan does show his skills during the training-scenes and Lady Liu does show her abilities in a very soft "hidden tiger, crouching dragon"-style. For those that haven't seen Ipman or the Shaolin-movies with Jet Li, Mulan is probably a exciting. For those that have seen them, Mulan will probably never live up to its full potential.
It is a nice movie, but maybe not the best genre for Disney.
Dark (2017)
Mindblowing masterpiece
Without dobut the best series I've seen. You will switch from a feeling of being totally confused to some aha-experiences, before it suddenly turns into being confused again. A masterpiece and the best is that its not made by Hollywood. Gold medal to Netflix.
The Night Comes for Us (2018)
Fantastic
It has been a while since I saw such a violent movie. Allmost a poetic Tarrantiono-violence inspiration. Brutal with a lot of blood, killings, gore and serious injuries. Brilliant, just brilliant.
Revenger (2018)
Interesting
The movie does feel like a low budget project. The concept is interesting with a dedicated island for prisoners, but there are some things that don't live up to the idea. For example they have beer and weapons/knives that aren't exactly found by nature on that island. Apart from that, I must say that the martial arts are just awesome. A sweet revenge-movie with lots of goodie-violence, This was my first South Korean movie, and despite the minor aspects as mentioned in the beginning, the movie was worth to watch. As usual in martial arts movies like this, the final battle something to look forward to.
