Prey (2022)
One of the best since original!
I thought AVP was the only way Predator would move forward. This brought it back to the original and kept with the original's storyline. We don't need to learn more about the Predator, which left plenty of room to grow the female leads character and get us to root for her the whole way through. Just a very entertaining movie! Not overdone or overthought. Bravo!
Halo (2022)
One of the best beginnings to a show I've seen
Why people take time to write these reviews before the plot of the show has even been reveled I'd beyond me. I'm only writing this now because I enjoyed the first episode so much I had to rebuff the haters. There is only one episode people! This episode was filled with action, great CGI and effects, it also framed the entire series arc as one of redemption for Master Chief. I love that there are people in power giving orders of sedition and murder. This show has grit and action. I mean, its based on a video game but it's still shows lots of substance, which is rare. I love that the heads up display has flashes of the video game when the Spartans do battle. I think the cast was on point. I don't need a big headline cast but I like Pablo as Master Chief. Taking off his helmet made it better! If he just left it on his human side would be hard to express. Why anyone would want the exact storyline of the game is beyond me. If it's loosely based on the game but has a great story then I'm sold. The first episode had everything you would want from an action sci-if series. It honestly felt like a series finale at times and it was the pilot! I really hope that if this show continues to evolve the way the first episode did I'm sold and I hope most other people will be too!
The Morning Show (2019)
Best character on tv goes to Billy Crudup!
I just binge watched, (unintentionally) the first season and I have to say it was one of the best shows I've seen in a while. Is it perfect, no, but that's what makes it great! Billy Crudup's character was perfect! Both well written and played. He deserves all the praise in the world for this role, as does Reese Witherspoon. I was so motivated to write this after reading how certain critics (Sophie Gilbert) for example thought the show was poorly made, referencing too many cooks in the kitchen, so to speak. But for me, the chaotic nature of the show and the levity Crudup's character (Cory) brought to every scene was worth the price of admission. So I cannot wait to see what season 2 will bring. Hopefully the same balance of characters and comedy that killed quarantine day 23 for me.
Bravo Apple+ !
