Titans (2018)
Great series, a lot of people don't seem to follow comics that complain
After reading several of the reviews I felt the need to set a few things straight.
1. The CGI is relatively low budget.. there are a lot of practical effects and the CGI is no worse than any other TV show CGI like CW shows.
2. To those talking about Robin not being like that have missed the whole storyline with him leaving and hating being Robin, this is setting up his journey to becoming Nightwing which I think we'll see in Season 2.
3. Starfire is black in some of the newer versions, not just this show. As far as her outfit.. she was supposed to literally be a hooker in the comics.. she portrays that in a more realistic way than a one piece bikini.
4. Raven is supposed to be troubled and afraid of her powers. She feels deeply and when she does, she loses control. This is obviously her origin story and I'm sure she'll have more control over her powers and emotions in the 2nd season.
The scene in episode 11 featuring Batman was awesome and nice to see so many cameos.. especially the teaser to Superboy and Krypto the Superdog at the very end. Looking forward to seeing the full team put together. Just wish we could see some Gotham villains in the show.. hopefully after they deal with Raven's dad they can move on to more popular villains.
Bleach: Burîchu (2018)
90% of this movie is almost Anime perfect
The characters look very similar to how they should look. Ichigo, Chad, Renji and Uryu are almost exactly as I picture them, though Anime tends to draw characters as more of a Japanese/European hybrid look. Byakuya was really close though I felt he needed to look a little more hardened and a few years older.
As far as the story, the first half is almost dead on with the Anime, it was really in the last 20 minutes did they change it up a lot ending things a little different. Ichigo's character starts off a little slow but by the end he becomes the hot headed, arrogant, skilled fighter we'd expect. Was really happy to see them go all in on the fights and effects. Was not really expecting to see Sabimaru roar.. though I wish I could have seen a live action bankai.
This was probably one of the best anime inspired live action movies I've watched. Would love to see a bigger budget sequel and do the soul society arc and see Ichigo fight all the captains. Also Netflix.. GET THIS AN ENGLISH DUB. It's ridiculous that you have it in like 6 languages but not English. All in all, if you are a fan of the Manga or anime, give this a watch. The costumes, props, character design and feeling of the movie is pretty accurate.
Cutthroat Kitchen: The Cone Ranger (2014)
Great episode
For this show this is one for the history books. It is the only episode I've seen and at least the only episode up to this point in the show, where a contestant...
SPOILER*****************************************************
Did not bid a single dollar, got half the sabotages AND still won.
By the final round you had to admire his courage, trying to win the full amount to take his wife on the honeymoon she deserved. Great sabotages too, nothing too crazy but still complicating things as always.
House M.D.: Joy to the World (2008)
Not the best episode, but warm and fuzzy
Medically a fairly boring episode, but it had a lot of warm and fuzzy moments, like House lying about the virgin birth to make the couple happy. As far as Thirteen and Foreman, it's been a couple of episodes coming. Also the the person confused about her sexuality she is BI. Bi means you are attracted to both sexes, not that you're bi, gay and straight. It means that she likes both, she dates both, that the person's sex doesn't matter in her decision of who to date. An unlikely couple and considering I've seen all the episodes we know it doesn't last long.
Back to the show though, it's nice to see Cuddy getting involved in some of the diagnoses though I miss the crazy brainstorm sessions in this episode. Still about a 7/10
The Core (2003)
Great B movie that could have been an A movie *spoilers inside*
Well to me this movie is a classic, I watch it when I goto bed at night a lot, just for background noise. The movie is, it itself, a decent movie....as long as you don't know a lot of science. If they would have worked closer with some real scientists they could have fixed a few plot holes and science facts. If you don't want to read any spoilers, stop now and turn away. For the rest of you: 1. Some of the special effects shots for over dramatized without thinking them through, such as a scene where cars are melting but a guy is inside cool as a cucumber, getting a sunburn when he sticks his arm out in the same beam that is melting cables.
2. The cobalt cocoon scene. I believe this was originally written to be in the Mantle where the average temp is 1600F give or take....in the movie, they talk about the outside temperature being 5000F which is almost DOUBLE the melting point of cobalt. THAT WOULD MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE.
3. The whole concept of them dropping the bombs without being able to detach the compartments is crazy when they say that's how they were going to do it, but it never designed it that way and died having to engage the gear. I think they started reaching for ways to kill off main characters and had to get creative.
4. Also has anyone considered what would happen if one of the upper compartments got damaged? The front is the control room, the only one with the front laser as well, so it would have to not get damaged and if the 2nd got damaged all of the rest would be lost too....and crushed since they would all be compromised still being connected. Not very well thought out.
With all that said and a lot more I could nitpick this is still a very enjoyable movie. The acting is fantastic, most of the time, and their deaths can be moving. All in all well worth the watch, just leave your critical mind behind and enjoy the ride.
Dexter: The Dark...Whatever (2012)
Great episode
I won't drag out a long review, but I can't believe nobody bragged about the Jim Beaver guest appearance aka Bobby Singer on CW's Supernatural. What I found ironic was the whole "Bobby"/"It's Bobby" phrase in the same episode, I wonder if there was an intentional kickback to Supernatural.
The episode itself delivered, with a new element of murder not dabbled in much on the show, arson. Also nice to see the Dex and Deb's relationship slowly ironing out. Looking forward to seeing how the whole Bay Harbor Butcher reinvestigation pans out.
All in all a great episode and looking forward to the rest of the season.
