And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself (2003)
I don't know how close to true this is, and I don't really care
Because it is just a great story from start to end. I was riveted the whole time. I kept saying to myself, "I can't BELIEVE these people did this!" The entire cast was very good, especially the few leading roles. But Antonio, who is always very good, was maybe at his best here. There was no Antonio as the beautiful boy. Here he's dirty, sweaty, scummy, grubby, and yet he still shines. If Pancho Villa was anywhere as charismatic as Antonio makes him, he had to be one hell of a leader.
I hate that most of the best movies out in the last 10 years are all sitting in stacks of ONE on some video store shelf, being totally overlooked. Did this one ever even make it to the big screen?
John Carter (2012)
I had low expectations
I put off watching this movie because I read an awful review of it. So my expectations were low. But let me tell you, i LOVED this movie! What fun! Just a super fun movie.
I'm not going to spoil it for you, the less you know the better. I will tell you that John Carter was written by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the man who wrote Tarzan. But unlike Tarzan this is science fiction. If you liked Star Wars, if you liked Willow, if you like adventure and action movies then check this one out. I might even buy it, which I almost never do any more. This was SUCH a pleasant surprise.
I just wish I had a 3D TV, because it comes in 3D also.
