The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Don't bother sitting through the credits
Don't bother sitting through the credits. Like the marvel films there is a short scene after credits but they work for marvel. Unfortunately not sure if it's a joke but it's a pretty terrible scene after almost 10 minutes of credits. It lasts 30 second and consists of 4 or 5 random characters (bit characters who appear for about 30 seconds in the actual film) discuss creating a cat matrix; yes you got it catatrix they call it. Wtf very angry as not needed and not even funny.
Tenet (2020)
Amazing on par with inception
I really couldn't wait to watch this film and boy was it worth it. I had read reviews before mostly positive but some people complained about the music score or explosions muffling the characters taking and not understanding what is going on. Let me tell you this is not the case I could hear the dialogue clearly. The film was complicated and you do need a think outside the box attitude when watching but the film grips you pulls you in one direction and then another and although complicated plot it did make sense at the end (well almost) a few things I didn't get but some have said you benefit from watching a few times it's one of those films but I have seen some weird and complicated films that i literally have no idea what is happening and left thinking this was utter confusing for the sake of it and drivel but this is not the case with this film. If you loved memento or inception then you will love this film. If you need everything laid out for you and baby walked through each scene then you shouldn't really watch as you won't enjoy it. It's a thinking mans film and will certainly have you discussing in the future with all your like minded friends when they see it.
The Stanford Prison Experiment (2015)
Good but not as good as das experiment
Ok maybe this film was based on what really happened I enjoyed it but the psychological effects it seemed to have were quite minor. If some of them cracked up after 1 or 2 days then they must have been weak or have an underlying mental health condition. The film das experiment is better in that it has more violence and mental discomfort for the people involved. I felt more empathy for their pain. This film you never get past the stage that it is still an experiment despite the doctors and psychologists trying to make it so. It still is an experiment so you can't feel anything for the people involved. If you watch das experiment you will go beyond the experiment and be more shocked with the outcome.
First Wave: The Believers (2000)
That's more like it
I posted my review about the last episode of the first season and how disappointing it was being a lazy flashback episode but this end of season 2 is excellent the best episode of the whole program. The cliff hanger at the end made me want to watch the next episode straight away it was so gripping. I'm loving how the series progresses.
First Wave: The Decision (1999)
Great series worst episode
I love this series every episode is amazing and offers a different unique story. With standalone characters and 2 or 3 regular characters. However this episode is a complete filler. I have noticed this happen in other sfy series. Basically it's an episode where one character is given his reasoning for something to a panel and previous episodes are shown in flashbacks. It's lazy and I was extremely disappointed considering it was a season finale. Will it affect me not watching? no it won't I will be eagerly watching the next series. Just letting you know you won't miss anything if you skip this episode or just have it on in background without paying any attention to it.,
Project Almanac (2015)
The film primer should have been
To begin with I would add the slight negative; it seems to be a modern thing with films that the dialogue is slightly muffled or sounds like the actors are mumbling. However if you turn up the volume to quite high it is fine.
There has been reviews slating this film because of the errors about time travel; however when have we suddenly become experts on the subject when the subject matter Is theoretical and scientists argue the ins and out of it for a living. What I do like to say is this is fiction and films have something called "artistic license". Its equivalent of those people who moan about horror films when characters make silly decisions that end up getting them killed. if they made all these smart decisions that the viewers supposedly would do then they wouldn't end up being killed and there would be no story. The film is well acted the characters are likeable and it holds together well. I enjoyed the plot immensely it was tense and even a bit scary at times. It incorporated a lot of ideas and although not totally unique it still had you guessing as to where the plot was leading. At no point did I feel like there was noticeable plot holes or bad directing. A few people have compared this film to primer which apparently this is a poorer version of. I totally disagree you should definitely watch Almanac instead. Primer was one of the worst films I have ever seen and this is one of the best. I would give it 10 but the dialogue issue is a slight frustration remember to turn the volume down after watching or you will get blown away with what ever you watch next.
Pompei, ieri, oggi, domani (2007)
what could be a good film ruined by poor acting
This film is hard to review, it is actually a good story and good to watch but unfortunately the actors and acting is poor. The present day part at beginning and end is truly awful with some of the worst acting I have seen in a while and adds no relevance to the film; it should be taken out the film. the main film I liked the characters the story was good. the main hero character was a terrible actor though. The dialogue between the characters border lined on stupidity and bizarre. All in all this would be a good film if it was directed by someone else and replaced half the cast. I would give this film 5/10 which is a shame because it could have been so much better.
The Wicker Man (2006)
A remake of an old classic
Firstly I'd like to say this is nowhere near a scratch on the original, but having read the other views about being a terrible film or the worst film ever I'd like to defend it slightly. If we take the fact away that it was a remake of a classic and stood it in the light apart from the original then it's certainly not total crap. it's average border lining on OK. The story is OK it holds your attention it's never going to win any awards, but maybe some of the younger readers who haven't seen the original might like it. There are far worse films even remakes which this Wicker Man is better than. Overall nothing too thrilling but a mediocre film.
