Mortdecai (2015)
Ridiculous and hilarious
I honestly don't get the low IMDB rating, this movie is packed with funny one liners, great characters and scenarios. It's ridiculous and over the top with a super cast to carry it through to the end. You couldn't ask for a better easy to watch movie night treat.
I have watched this movie with a few different people at different times and it's always been enjoyed. Whatever happened when the movie was released I don't know but this is one that definitely flew under the radar but it is a real gem and like me, I'm sure you'll find yourself trading lines from the movie with others you've watched it with and laughing to yourselves for ages.
"Every man should have a Jock". - Mordecai.
The Batman (2022)
Zzzzzzzz
This is so long, so slow, so predictable and the guy playing the riddler just doesn't cut it. I found myself looking at my watch wishing this would end. But it didn't. It just went on and on and on...
Halloween Kills (2021)
Absolute. Utter. S#!t.
Please refer to title of review...
I sat in the cinema after the movie ended, trying to think if I had seen a movie worse than this, but try as I did, I couldn't. There are some good actors in this movie, with some fine credits too their name. I can only imagine they got paid a bucket of money for this piece of dirt because they're is no other reason for appearing in it.
Miracle Workers (2019)
Just don't, honestly, you'll thank me.
Writing so poor it's like it was penned by a child and acting so bad I'm now looking forward to seeing the talented thespians performing at the kids school play.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
An enjoyable use of a couple of free hours
Borrowing heavily from a number of Sci-fi movies including the Alien franchise, predator and even Edge of tomorrow (the creatures look like organic versions of EoT's aliens) this movie is fairly standard fare for this genre. However this isn't something that should be held against The Tomorrow War, it's fast paced, well acted and the effects look really good with some great moments of tension and terror as well as action. This movie was made to go with popcorn and if you're a scí fí fan, you should very much enjoy this.
Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector (2020)
Awful writing as well as a poor lead.
This show is so bad, that if you took a man who was confined to a wheelchair and placed him in front of a TV and played this series, he would will himself to get up and walk away.
The one bright light is the performance of the actor playing the bone collector, his name escapes me, but he played the part very well, no overacting like the rest of the leading cast who seemed to enjoy channeling their inner David Caruso, its a shame he didn't get more from the rest of the cast or the shows writers who penned amazing dialogue like "somebody, somewhere knows something" and my personal favourite, when the lead character is looking at a victim with three feet of rebar driven through his chest, "Looks like we've got a murder".
Well he hardly did it to himself!
There's better things to watch, just keep scrolling.
Extract (2009)
Watching this movie was like having a conversation with the main characters next door neighbour
I'm going to just quote my wife after we'd finished watching this movie and then just leave it there...
"Predictable drivel, some scenes actually made me angry they were so bad".
Can't argue with that.
The Good Doctor (2017)
Pure soap opera garbage.
Lots of soft scenes with doctors admitting mistakes and telling emotional tales of hard moments in their lives to patients and their families who should really be considering suing the arse off the doctors rather than listening to their whimsy, all to a soft piano soundtrack you've heard in a hundred different crappy Hallmark movies.
Criminal Minds: Under the Skin (2020)
Snore fest
This show died years ago, borrowing heavily from silence of the lambs doesn't help. It's boring, poorly acted and utterly predictable. It's a shadow of what it once was.
Still Game (1999)
Simply the funniest thing in years
Apart from being hilariously funny, this show does something very different and that is, it makes you care about the characters. It's superbly written, tight and brilliantly cast. You end up getting invested to the point where the final episode will break your heart, but you'll love it just the same. I absolutely recommend you take the time to love it too.
1917 (2019)
Slow, predictable and kind of boring.
I was looking forward to seeing this but I was so very disappointed. All the major scenes were completely over egged, not in an action packed kind of way but exaggerated to the point that the characters decisions made no sense. From trying to tightrope walk over a bridge in full view of any enemy soldiers for miles around to the ridiculous scene of running across no man's land, it was hard to feel taken by this movie. Indeed its easy to see why the Germans lost this war considering their troops must have been trained to shoot by Star Wars own Stromtroopers plus the main character never had to reload his weapon, Infinite ammo certainly is a big advantage in war.
In fairness to it, the movie looks amazing, but while there is certainly a story there threatening to reveal itself it gets lost behind theatrics.
