Jaws (1975)
INTENSE in a movie theater.
You haven't truly experienced Jaws until you've seen it in a movie theater. Films like these really aren't made anymore, what with the replacement of actual special affects for CGI. The environment you see a movie in, also, really affects how focused you are into the film. If you watch something on your TV at home in the living room or on your laptop or phone (God forbid), you're opening yourself up to a lot of distractions, which is really kind of a disrespect for films like these.
If you see a film (especially a classic blockbuster movie like this (indeed THE classic blockbuster movie)) in a movie theater, however, all your attention is forced unto the giant screen and you really do pay attention to every nuance the director and editors and actors, etc. intend. John Williams' score and Spielberg's direction and especially seeing the GIANT great white on a GIANT screen is absolutely the greatest and most intense viewing of this film you could ever experience. I'm 100% not exaggerating.
Equilibrium (2002)
a pretty good rental
the only real rip off i guess you could say from the matrix is the stylization of the action sequences, although Equilibrium's action scenes were a bit more stylized. also, there were not very many action scenes in the film, as it was mostly dominated by a lot of talking back and forth between characters. honestly, i found the film (except for its few exciting shootout scenes) to be quite boring. There was just too much dialogue for it to keep my attention and the story wasn't very gripping...at least compared to a story like, say, the Matrix. However, Christian bale did deliver a good performance, as he usually does, and Emily Watson was amazing also. And, of course, Sean bean was a badass like always, even if he was a minor character.
Bruce Lee in G.O.D.: Shibôteki yûgi (2000)
it's okay...
I just bought the DVD on Ebay since I could not find it anywhere else. When i saw the trailer i was so excited because i'm a huge fan of Lee but when i watched the movie i was a little disappointed. Bruce lee's dubbed voice in the GOD footage was so high and downright annoying. Although i did think that his trademark screams (WATAAAH!!!) sounded really cool and much better than the ones in A Warrior's Journey, Lee's dubbed voice was just so annoying. Even the co-stars voices were dubbed with different people! The film was okay and kind of accurate, but the only reason to watch this, in my opinion, is because of the GOD footage, even though Lee and his co-stars dubbed voices were really annoying. I think if you, like me, are one of Bruce Lee's biggest fans, you'd probably buy this movie anyway and forget my review. I recommend watching A Warrior's Journey instead unless you just HAVE to watch this film. Besides, AWJ is more accurate on Lee's life, gives more info, and most importantly, has Bruce Lee's REAL voice spoken in the GOD footage along with his co-stars!
BRUCE LEE IN G.O.D. 7/10
