How I Met Your Father (2022)
Feels unorganic
Neither the cast nor the setting seems organic. Sophie's urgent quest for true love isnt motivated by some triggering event (Ted was triggered by Marshall's proposal) and it was not urgent to say the least. She does not need to find the one immediately.
Sophie and her new gang also bonded within a miniscule period of time and there were no chemistry that glue them together. People dont suddenly become life friends overnight- let alone become gangs for life.
The cast, this time, has also been picked neatly enough that they were all goodlooking friends. The former british royal was also coincidentally a model with chiseled abs.
All in all, seems kinda disappointing and rushed. The series need to tone down a few of its sexual appeal and should also distance itself with HIMYM series as the original series painted a unique NYC and a unique 'future' that HIMYF could not match. Its like a different show, and i guess other than the story telling part, it should be. Dont recreate the magic, rather show me a different trick.
Final Space: Forgiveness (2021)
A series evolved!
Looking back to the first episode of season one and comparing it to Forgiveness episode is looking into two different spaces. The series still the funny and non-chalant (per se) but the characters are in-depth, emotional and evolved. It's brilliant to its core.
Seduced: Inside the NXIVM Cult (2020)
Too Feministic
The documentary tried so hard to show how women are the victim and man are the villain.
Throughout the documentary, aside from Keith, it tried to highlight that woman are the only victim of the cult and man played little to no role in exposing the cult. None of the male ex-cultist were interview despite in the interview showed a few of the male in the group were shocked and disapproved of Keith's method.
In one episode, one of the Ex-Cultist openly confront Keith because of the branding, but he was not shown by the documentary. It seems the interviewer wanted to highlight that the downfall of Nxivm was due to female empowerment. It's subtle, but it's there
If the interview were less biased, it would help explore as to why there were man who joined the cult since they were not part of the erotic scene. They failed to explained what happened to senior male members, male victims of the cult and male who fought against NXIVM. Disappointing thing to see
Justice League Dark: Apokolips War (2020)
Could have been better as a series
The plot felt shallow because everything was rushed. There were hints of character development but it all fell short as it ends before anything could be interesting.
The main plot could have been stretch into a 12 episode mini series where every episode explore a portion of the whole event. E.g. 1 episode to give an insight of Raven and Damien's love story, or the JL's first attempt of attacking Apokolips. If the duration was longer, surely it could explore new posibilities and help audience relate to the situations characters better.
Also, fix the dialogues!! Everyone sounds like a cartoon character. Imagine the Avengers lineup were talking the same- we would be downright furious. The swearing should feel natural and not thrown out just because you want the character to sound edgy. If dialogues were better, carrying the emotions would be better
