Great idea, lousy execution
5 April 2021
I love the Wild Wild West TV series, that's part of the reason this movie was such a disappointment. The producers could have done something really great, and possibly started a movie series if they had done it right, but they didn't.

The idea of casting Will Smith as James West is one of the dumbest ideas in the history of filmmaking.

James West is an American James Bond in the old west, his persona is that of a rich playboy type.

A black man in that role makes zero sense at all, people of that era not only have wondered what was going on, and been suspicious, but he would have had a much harder time getting accepted into many of the sort of places an agent like that would have had to operate.

It makes about as much sense as casting Tom Cruz as the lead in a remake of Shaft.

A bit over the top but not bad
22 June 2013
The premise is that by the year 2030 the government has outlawed Christianity (and presumably other religions) in the name of tolerance and has established an official church. The main character, Zach Thompson is running a small Christian church out of his home and with the help of his friend Aaron, a Navy Seal taught advanced networking security by the government attempts to get the word out to the country about just what the government is doing.

The idea behind the movie is an interesting one, and probably not as outlandish as we would like to believe. The acting is OK and the story has a couple of nice twists.

One thing that jumps out is that this movie is supposed to take place in 2030 but the cars and technology is distinctly 2010.

Great old show

"The FBI" is one of those wonderful old shows I remember from when I was a kid, and it was great finding it being rerun on the "American Life" channel.

There was no question who the good guys and bad guys were, and Inspector Lewis Erskine is as straitlaced as they come, he and Sargent Friday were two of a kind.

The theme music is perfect, it has a serious solidity to it, and the writing is just what it should be. I also love seeing all the new, old cars, and seeing what high technology (like their computers) was in those days helps us to appreciate what we have today.

Great show, well worth watching again.
