The Last Ship (2014)
Poor continuity
Meh.....
If you want to be entertained and not use the slightest bit of your mental capacity to link parts of the show together, or relate events or actions back to the main plot, then sure, carry on.
But if you're going to think about stuff while watching, then you're going to be critical of this show. I mean, the expert said in an earlier episode that the virus kills within minutes of infection, and yet subsequent episodes show survivors with evidence of infection and yet are still very much alive and walking around asking for help. And that's just one point that doesn't make sense. There are others.
Billions: Napoleon's Hat (2022)
What a waste of resources
The writers have truly lost it. A 5-yr old can come up with a better story.
A public defender who's intent on bringing to heel the super rich simply because they make way more money than the average man? How is that serving the public if no illegal means were employed to make that money, and all this while, the public prosecutor's office is wasting time and resources trying to find dirt on this guy instead of going after the real criminals? A personal vendetta against the elites? If they broke the law, sure. But if they hadn't done anything wrong yet, to go after them, to bait them into a wrongdoing, just simply targetting them, shouldn't this already be an abuse of power?
And then there's the hedge fund manager who's intent on doing good while making tons of money the right way? To help a city and make the lives of the masses better? Now I know I'm truly living in a fairytale.
The Blacklist: The Protean (No. 36) (2021)
My grandmother can write better....
Seriously, the writers need to be fired.
World-renown hitman kidnaps Keen's half-sister at her home, sets an ambush for Keen, and drives her sister's car to the location. But instead of hiding in the back of the car so as to easily catch Keen when she enters the car, he decides to get out, wait around the corner and when Keen gets into the driver's seat, comes out no more than 5 metres in front of the car, fires 2 shots missing Keen but hitting her sister, and then stands there to get run over by Keen? Sounds more like a first-time criminal-wannabe than an infamous professional hitman.
And in the final scenes when Keen has a gun to the hitman's head in his car while surrounded by the FBI, if she really wanted him to tell her where Townsend is, why not hand him over to her FBI friends? Afraid he won't talk? Doesn't her past experience with the Task Force's dealings with past criminals show her that most can be "persuaded" to talk? And threatening to kill him when he's the only one with the info she needs? Even a kid knows you won't do it. Kill me and the info goes with me. And she's suppose to be a smart agent? How "smart" is that?
Just 2 of the many flaws with the writing for this episode.
The Blacklist: The Russian Knot (2021)
Doesn't make sense.
Two glaring miss-steps in the story.
1. How did Agent Ressler know how to operate the Russian Knot before Reddington showed the Task Force?
2. If Townsend is so formidable and heavily protected, how did Keen and her security get to him at his home and manage to put a bag over his head? Even though his people know Keen is working together with Townsend, they wouldn't leave him alone with her without his authorisation, much less allow Keen's people to go into the room with her.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)
Is it worth my time?
Watched all the episodes of the first season. I'm yet to be convinced it'll become a long-term fixture in my to-watch list, but I'm prepared to give the writers another season to earn their spot.
Nothing against the main leads, but this Karli character is weak, her gripe against the authorities is ambiguous at best, and played by an average actress. That's a disappointing villain coming from the MCU franchise.
Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector (2020)
Truly disappointing.....even after 5 episodes in....
I've only read one of Deaver's Lincoln Rhyme books (The Empty Chair) and was so looking forward to watching this series. But after 15 mins of the first episode, it was such a huge letdown. Nowhere near suspenseful or gripping like the book. I couldn't put the book down, even when I was on the toilet seat! But 15 mins into the pilot, I was already tuning out.
And the male lead's character just makes it worse. Not the actor himself, but the way the studio has written Lincoln....he wasn't that abrasive in the book.
If you think it might get better in the later episodes, save it. I gave it a chance until episode 5 and nope, it doesn't improve. At this point, if I do watch anymore episodes, it'll only be because of Brooke Lyons.
