The Glades (2010)
Cali why ?
I really like the mysteries each week. The chemistry between the team is also great. Each character has its own role and play off each other well. Daniel is really the hidden gem character of this show. I relate to him in many ways and when he comes on screen his energy makes me smile. Cali scenes though make me cringe and I have to wonder if she was written by different writers. Jim starts to move on and seek out healthy relationships only for her to drag him back into their situationship. Now Jim isn't blameless in this situation, he should have never gone after the hot nurse with a husband in prison and a kid. They both do stuff in their relationship that makes you hate them both. If you take her out of the show , I would have enjoyed it much more. His other love interests were much better.
The end.
Wish (2023)
Manage your expectations: Rough Draft
I went into this movie assuming it was going to be awful. This isn't a classic by any means but it's also not a terrible movie. The only thing that upset about is the soundtrack. Please tell me why they thought this okay. Also the villain was weak. He started taking people wishes to protect them and then book makes him evil. Even before he used the book he came across as egotistical and self absorbed. There was just so much potential to make it better. A lot of people are complaining about the art style of the movie. It's definitely different and I found it jarring to begin with but I ended up really like it. This whole movie is underdeveloped. What we got was the rough draft of what could have been a classic.
The Baxters (2024)
Kari Baxter... why ?
Kari Baxter character was the same level of annoying as scrappy doo. The writers of Scooby Doo at least the decency to write him out of show for past few decades (live action movies not counted). The writers of the Baxters weren't so merciful.
1. She shouldn't be doing marriage counseling when she can barely handle her own life.
2. She's hypocritical and it's never acknowledged
3. Her relationship with Tim makes me grind my teeth. She begs him to come back and then goes on a date with highschool love and kisses him. Then he's killed to make room for that relationship.
4. Why is she the example of unwavering faith ? Elizabeth is a much better example and doesn't get as much screen time.
The rest of the characters have their own moments of annoyance but it makes sense. They have redeemable characteristics much like Fred from Scooby. Honestly if we let Kari story line go , I would have rated the show much higher.
La La Land (2016)
Did we watch the same movie ?
Did we watch the same movie is a question I ask myself often when people bring up the "masterpiece" of la la land. There are very few movies I can point too where I just don't understand how anyone could enjoy this. I could see it maybe as make out movie that you just tune out. I didn't like characters or the story. I felt disconnected and also a background character to the songs. At least in some of the less than stellar Disney movies , they have banger sound tracks. This soundtrack was at best forgettable. So once again I ask what was so great about this movie that it was worthy of awards and such praise ?
The Marvels (2023)
Better movie than black widow
I thought it was going to awful because that's what everyone was saying. I finally got around to it and it wasn't that bad. It's not a classic or even one I rewatch over and over. That being said I had some really good moments. This one had charm , humor and my favorite of the newer Marvel movies
I think one of the reasons this wasn't liked is because we like to see super heros are the infallible good guys. Mrs. Marvel made a mistake and it humanized her character in a way that I appreciated. Kamal , I related to a lot in this movie. While I am not her age , if I met Ironman at her age I would have acted similar. Gotta love a good fan girl and ball scene.
Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers (2022)
Deserved More Hype
It makes me so mad that I had no idea this movie existed until today. They should have marketed this better and I'm sure it would have done much better. The new Disney movies just aren't for me.
The fact that this movie isn't some fan edit and was actually made by Disney will forever amaze me. Disney is so protective over their characters that seeing Peter Pan as a man who turns toys into toilets but is also low key a mob boss is amazing. I really hope they make more movies like this because this has heart and humor.
I will be recommending this movie to all my friends and I love this one.
To use up characters : I love cheese.
Revenge (2011)
Stop after season 2
I just don't see the point in the later seasons. It just seems like they are beating a dead horse. The moment I emotionally checked out was season three episode 10. They should have just let her leave with her love and ended it there if they were going to have a third season.
The other thing that drives me nuts about this show is more often than not Victoria relies on sex to get what she wants. I can see her using that earlier in life but at this point she's very well connected. That's more of a personal pet peeve of mine but maybe she enjoys using sex to her advantage. On the plus side this is a very quotable show.
Love Again (2023)
Best part is the music
The entire movie I kept thinking to myself , the two main characters desperately need therapy. Miria was pushed into dating way to fast and wasn't ready in the slightest. Also Rob had his own unresolved relationship drama that he needed to make peace with. Also he came across as a stalker and should have been honest from the get go. Celine Dion reminded me of why I loved her music and as a public figure. Love is complicated.
The love story itself felt rather rushed to fit within the article of the timeline. As a person whose fell in love with a person online it doesn't happen that quickly. I just feel like this movie had potential to be a new classic and it fell short.
The Firm (2012)
Watched it all , root canals are more enjoyable
I love mystery shows but this writing just pisses me off. Over 12 episodes and he never thought to check his bag that he just randomly got back for bugs. I get not wanting not to know but this is ridiculous. This story could have been wrapped up in a two hour movie. It shouldn't have been strung out into 22 episode show. I wish they wouldn't have continued to flash back and forward. It would have been a much better show if they would have stayed with the main story and focused more on the drama bits like the love life. Also everyone is show is stuck up or just plain stupid. The rules mcdear plays by are also inconsistent and overly annoying.
Everwood (2002)
Depressing
I watched 7 episodes before I decided that this show was so depressing that it just wasn't worth it. I think I understand the angle they were going from but nothing good happens in this town. It just leaves you confused , sad and annoyed. Not only is the teenager childish and out of line but the parent never learns to parent. The best character in this show is the bus driver by a long shot. He seems to have a level head and give good advice. The two doctors are on opposite sides of the crazy train and as a result their kids are also train wrecks. So do yourself a favor and don't watch this awful show, there are much better dramas that will at least make you laugh on occasion or crack a smile.
Ride (2023)
Just why ?
It's been a while since I've seen writting this bad. I normally like the shows even if they they aren't my favorite. This one just didn't do it for me. I didn't connect to any of the characters and found myself second guessing all of their life choices. Missy married the wrong brother but the way they are playing that story line is just uncomfortable. It makes cash come across as the creepy brother. Also who named their kid Cash that's not a kardashian. I'm looking at you stormy.
So if you want to check out a show I recommend the way home or good witch. This show is honestly a huge waste of time.
We Wish You a Married Christmas (2022)
She's the Promblem
This is the first time I have just flat out hated a hallmark movie. The overall movie was a mixture of depressing and bizarre moments that left me rooting for a divorce. The conflict is normally equal on both sides of the couple but for this movie she's the promblem yet the movie has him apolgize. By the end of the movie, I was equally frustrating and depressed having flashbacks of my own childhood. My parents mantra was always "maybe he's really changed this time" and "it's not that bad". The good moments are great but the bad far outweigh and sometimes it is just better to get a divorce.
The dog was the best part.
He's All That (2021)
Was this a fever dream
This can best be explained as a fever dream with no real point or explanation.
Black Widow (2021)
Just Bad
I feel like I just watched two hours of fight scenes and no real character or plot development. I left the theater asking myself what I just payed to watch. Wrost thing Marvel has put out.
