The Pogmentary (2022)
We can hate it but his team doesn't care..
What I like about this documentary- it's real ( as imagined from the head of Pogba and his team). They have been honest to share what they exactly think and thankfully shown some lovely peek behind the footballers family life.
What I hate about the documentary- You just don't like how narrow a footballer and his team can be in thinking of everything but the game. During 5 episodes, Pogba talks as much about Manchester United as he talks about acting/ fashion or retirement. He doesn't have 1 analytical opinion about his stint at United other than he doesn't feel supported. Late Raiola was the guy who spoke 2 lines on how he wasn't same guy with United as he was with France. Neither people tried to show any picture as to why it happened? Just very simple moaning. As a footballer you would love to share your ideas of the game, what enthuses you- idea of tactics etc etc. Pogba doesn't. He shows how simplistic view of the game he has and that's something he has displayed on the pitch as well. Pogba is just an extension of Ozil- he wants to be paid huge amounts of money but still wants to be able to give excuses if he doesn't perform. You see a couple of lines on how he was looking to learn from Ronaldo- no lines on whether he actually did. There are a lot of such broken stuff that's just shows where priority of team lie even in this documentary.
To showcase Pogba as a brand, just that when you distance the brand of footballer with the game, how far can the brand go independently.
I guess we will find out.
Just Mercy (2019)
Stupendous and a serious realization of justiceness in our society
The movie takes time to build but is one of the best in recent times. Both Micheal B Jordan and Jamie Foxx have put in an honest effort to play the role of actual ppl. The message that comes across is sad especially on current justice system in the states. Seriously, I hope movies like these at the very least put an impression on the current society and atleast help them become a better character jb future. As it says in the end, a country has great character or not, we can know by how they treat the poor in the country and not the rich.
Special Correspondents (2016)
A good watch!!
Amazed at its extremely low rating when we have so many Netflix offerings full of tasteless comedy and bs love making scenes, get 7.5+ . For me, it I'd a steady comedy, not out of mind witty but simple and solid. I have rated it 8 because it's storyline is very good, clean and concise. Actors are very well chosen and it binds you very easily to the story after 5-10 minutes. A definite watch during lockdown.
House M.D.: One Day, One Room (2007)
One of the best House episodes
I think while the humor and wit element is a easy factor that draws people to watch House MD, it is the depths like this episode that stands House MD out as a series. This episode while intense shows you how House also has a humane side which at some point of time he had to acknowledge to someone. The side story about Cameron dealing with death was also very well thought out. This helped both the characters grow further.
Broadchurch (2013)
One of best TV Series in its genre
One of the best things about Broadchurch is the pace of the series. It takes time to build each character showing their thoughts in depth. The general storyline is simple and yet gripping from the very first scene. Within 10 mins, I was crying alongside the characters and thats the effect it has on you. It is humane, raw sometimes dark and yet, showcases humans in best possible way. I have no doubt this series will stay with me for a long time and I would definitely rate it over any of its genre and as one of best I have ever seen and would love to see it from time to time for the journey that you take alongside the characters.
Tumbbad (2018)
Movie of the year
I know Andhadhun with its clever writing is doing rounds far more than Tumbbad and with a star cast much better than Tumbbad we can understand why. But have no doubt, with this year coming to close,Tumbbad is definitely the best movie of this year. Backed by a strong script, directors did an amazing job by keeping the suspense of the movie alive for first half of movie, even once you understand some aspect of the plot it was still understood that we had more stuff to know. Cinematography was perhaps hero of this movie. While quality wise there could have been better scenes, theme and essence of the movie was brilliantly captured and displayed mostly. Shooting it in village Tumbbad and showcasing a pre independence era, they did almost everything right. The actor Sohum Shah who seems to have produced the movie as well did an immaculate job in this movie. I hope we see more of him in 2019. All in all, one to not miss. As it is definitely best horror/ thriller movie of Bollywood so far.
Chef (2014)
lovely watch
It's not always you watch a movie that talks about food, emotions and family in the same phase. So, when you find such a classic combination, its better not to lose out on such stuff!! The movie is one made with a good sincere heart and it can be easily felt. Its a feel good movie and there is nothing to dislike here!! The movie started with a pretty good plot, chef and owner having different views. Chef wanting to please people with his culinary skills . The movie also showcased some lovely insights into relationship between a divorced dad and his son and how spending time actually helped them mending their lives and got them to actually know each other.
