Bullhead (2011)

Brilliant Belgian crime thriller.

This is without doubt one of the best European films I've ever seen.

First of all this was a brilliant performance by Mattias Schoenaerts, his character being a man tormented by a childhood trauma that makes him withdrawn and only really relating to the animals on his farm, even through his silence you can feel the agony he goes through because of this being such a good performance by him.

Having lived on farms it is also refreshing to see a good crime film based on the countryside underworld and for it to be accurate as well to various themes of this film.

One of the only downsides to this film is that the flashbacks that occur are scattered about and can cause some confusion if your not paying full attention to the film.

However overall a great watch and it is not a surprise to see it got nominated for best foreign film of the year.

A must see - 9/10

Sickening but more of a film than the first.

Well we have Martin, the 'protagonist' who is mentally incapacitated and is abused mentally by his mother, physically by his neighbour and sexually by his doctor, who somehow works as a security guard in a car park. How he would get a job in real life beats me.

Despite the poor character development and non-existent script this is a chilling and disturbing title, one of the only horrors I have liked. I found myself much more intrigued and drawn in to this film than the first Human centipede, because of the unpredictability of the main man Martin compared to Dieter Laser in the first film.

I can understand why this film only has a score of 4/10 on this because of the non existent script etc but do not be put off by the low score, if your a fan of horror or enjoyed the first Human Centipede then your bound to like this.

7/10.
