Doctor Foster (2015)
Excellent acting, full stop.
As if Dostoevsky in his third-cheeriest mood was commissioned a remake of Medea set in a little cozy town. Gets you thinking that She could use some psychiatric help (medications, yes) and He, some testosterone outside of him having sex, but then there would be no story at all. Something happens that is commonplace for lots of couples but then a vortex of hatred swallows everything. Possible, but hardly convincing artistically unless involves medical condition (but then why making the show?). Not a single adult character to sympathize with. They talk about good things but not a single one of them has any moral limits. What they do as revenge is worse than what they were hurt with but no one gives a damn and they don't seem to know the word remorse. No self-reflection whatsoever. But - great acting from everyone.
Hvítur, hvítur dagur (2019)
An artistic masterpiece
It has everything other people have mentioned but it is an artistic masterpiece in the first place. It also has some good humor too. The two leading actors, granddad and his granddaughter, are incredibly genuine and powerful.
Enid (2009)
Too biased for a biopic
As if the aggrieved daughter made the film without any reference to other people's, including her sister's, opinions
