Great Cinematography with an original story
9 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I really liked this movie and am one of many who can not understand the current poor rating on it.

Honestly, would rate it an eight, but I bolstered my rating because I believe it is unjustly at six. It's a good little sci-fi with an original story and an original twist.

Compared to "Her" another movie regarding AI with a little bit of love, this movie is significantly better.

Wish I would have caught it on the big screen instead of on cable because of the cinematography. The acting is also excellent.

My only complaint would be the editing. Areas I think that were over edited or could have used more and others not enough.

If you like sci fi, technology, and the possibility of a utopia, you will like this. It also lends itself to thought afterwards.

Old fashion ghost story that delivers
22 December 2014
Loved this little flick.

I watched it alone at night before bed and it was definitely creepy. Making a good haunted house story is all in the story telling and atmosphere created. And this little low budget film was well done. The acting was good and believable.

Even though it was low budget the quality of the film didn't show that.

It had no gore, no sex, no profanity, no nudity, and no monstars. This is not a teen screamer.

It is a classic haunted house ghost story with it's own little ways for delivering the chills.

Too bad the rating is so low. I don't think this film reached enough of the over forty crowd who like old fashioned horror with good story telling and don't need all the crap I mentioned earlier that it doesn't have.

Good little movie for mind bender alternate reality fans
22 December 2014
Warning: Spoilers
It's not the best in the mind bender category. I rated it an eight to offset the low IMDb rating. I'd give it more like a 7, if I were to be honest.

The acting was okay. Nothing really cringe worthy. I happen to love this type of premise, which is somewhat mind bending and converges alternate realities.

If you liked Triangle or Coherence, you would like this. I think it's right on par with Triangle, but not as good as Coherence, but that is my opinion.

If you are a time traveling or alternate reality mind bender junkie, you will absolutely enjoy this ride. Understand, it's not the best in that category, but it's well worth the watch.

A deserted beach is the first place I'd run

Warning: Spoilers
if I was being chased by a thug.

The quality of the film/cinematography was subpar. The acting was very good. No complaints there.

It's just that it's disjointed and although it has a twist at the end, it didn't make clear sense. A lot of it didn't. I watch mind bending films all the time and I would not put this in that category.

It was mainly a mind bender wannabe. For instance when you take the twist with The Sixth Sense, it all made sense at the end. Usually in films like this the fun part are the little clues and hints dropped along the way. This had none.

It built this story and then 3/4's of the way through decided to change everything and give a "twist".

It's worth a watch, but I have no idea why the reviews are as high as they are. I enjoyed it somewhat.

Then the weird thing is that I look this up on the IMDb boards to try to find some explanations and there is nothing but rave reviews. That's Twilight Zone-ish in itself. No questions. No counter opinions. No "what happened to the uncle?" "How much of this was in her head?" "Why did the one guy keep lying unnecessarily?"

The thug guy was he supposed to be like a mob person. He wasn't real bright and overly paranoid. It's the writing.

Watch the movie. It's a fairly good rental or TV movie. Not a complete waste. I seen it on Hulu and for a Hulu freebie, it's good. I've seen worse.

50 years to finally team Pacino and Walken up
29 November 2014
I wasn't paying attention when this movie came out, so I didn't know it came out.

Had an urge to watch something with Walken in it and so I watched Seven Psychopaths and while studying Walken in that picture I was reminded of Al Pacino and wondered if they ever were in a flick together. So, I googled and found this gem of a movie.

Hollywood missed a big ticket not teaming those two up decades ago.

What a fun movie to watch: I loved watching the dialog between Walken and Pacino so much, I had to watch it twice.

My only complaint is that it wasn't long enough of a ride. Loved the dead pan humor and I just couldn't get enough.

If you are a fan of Pacino and Walken this is a MUST see. A bit sad to see them both aged and myself aged, but yet there is a warmth to the sadness.

Boy, I hope the two get casted together at least one more time.

Why the rating on IMDb is so low is beyond me. I'll be watching it again eventually because I enjoyed it so much.

I wish I could personally thank the writer, the director, the casting people and especially whoever it was that first suggested to get Pacino and Walken for this movie.

The script was perfect for the two of them and they were golden.

Dark humor with a stellar cast
28 November 2014
Loved this movie. I'm a fan of dark, dry, deadpan, and twisted humor so this was right up my funny bone.

One reviewer said that women would not like this. Not true. I'm a middle aged woman who loves this kind of creativity. Great lines abound. The cliché'd one liners were delivered perfectly.

If you do not like dark/black comedy you will not like this. If you think black comedy refers to race, than please take time to google what that means.

I can't wait to recommend this movie and watch it again. There were so many brilliant lines and nuances that I'm sure there are other subtleties I missed.

Enjoyable and fun ... for those who appreciate dark comedy and can handle violence and non pc ethnic one liners.

Warning: Spoilers
I gave this two stars because I actually watched it to the end. No atmosphere, too many holes, and the characters were all horrible. Poor character development.

I was going to stop watching within the first fifteen minutes. I was tired and just didn't feel like looking for something else. So, I'm writing this to warn anyone who likes movies with some decent acting or suspenseful buildup or character development to not waste your time here.

B-movies don't bother me and I like a lot of movies that may be low budget, but this movies was just ridiculous. Very unsatisfying.

Over use of T&A scenes.
23 September 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I was ready to turn this off in the first couple minutes but withheld and did wind up watching to the end. Did not care for the many dragged out T&A scenes.

Best acting was done by lead actor Marc Sentor who played Ray Pye. He looked like and even his acting reminded me of a cross between a young Ray Liotta and Rob Lowe. Hope he gets more lead roles in better scripts because he deserves it.

Sometimes it reminded of American Psycho though the only pop tune it played on and off as sound track was "I'm a Pied Piper" from the 60's.

I guess why I rated it only a five is because I didn't care for most of the characters and outside of Ray Pye they were under developed. Again, more could have been done there over the extended T&A scenes. Nearly every character we did somewhat get to know was dysfunctional and not totally likable. Sometimes it was difficult to tell who was the sickest personality or character.

I would have rather seen more suspense and logical/realistic detective work rather than Pye having a meltdown or whatever that was. Also didn't care for the ending or the big climax.

But kudos to Marc Sentor, I'd give him a 10 out of 10 for his stellar performance.

It's worth a watch if you can handle the T&A.

meh. Not bad for a free flick on hulu
23 September 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I figured out the ending before midway through. I was skeptical re. brother's church from the get-go and the weird nurse/maid.

It got a few stars because I did get a few chills early on. But the telling of the story was kind of choppy or over edited. Not much character build up. The mansion was the spookiest part and the apparitions but the story itself was lacking substance.

The ending flashbacks of earlier scenes (gee, never seen that done before) was not really necessary because the end twist really wasn't much of a surprise twist. I guess it was put in for people who really need the obvious spelled out.

The story telling or script could have been done much better for the premise. And a word for new horror film directors ... if the twist is not all that big of a twist or really not a twist at all ... don't play it up or play into it because it comes off amateurish and hokey.

Overall, comparably, it's a good horror flick for a hulu dot com freebie. At least I made it through to the end and in the first half it was interesting and I did get my cheap horror thrills and chills.
