Airport 1975 (1974)
Let Me Get You A Drink!!! .....the Pilot is flying the plane!!
Chuck full of stars...cross eyed beauty Karen Black, Moses himself Charlston Heston, demon possessed Linda Blair, lesbian singer Helen Reddy, CHIP'S Erik Estrada, 3's company Normal Fell a.k.a Mister Roper, screen legend Gloria Swanson in her last role, etc.
This is perhaps the best of the "Airport" flicks, full of suspense and thrilling moments, near perfect cinematography, even the score adds to the bone chilling excitement. I was truly entertained throughout the whole film.
The 747 was decorated in 1970's vomit! purples and yellows!! the girls with lots of hairspray and false eyelashes...
I love when the stewardess says to the frightened passengers, let me give you a drink, the pilot is flying the plane now!! ha ha
Goodfellas (1990)
Profanity, Violence and sex......
I love the brutality and profanity of this movie, I don't think it deserves to be one of the greatest movies ever made, but right until the end is enjoyable to watch. The end should have used some editing to make it more tight.
I hate Joe Pesci with all my life, he is a terrible actor and he always does the same schtick in all his movies....he is annoying and dirty, i clapped when he was shot dead!!
I also could not believe how many visible mistakes are in this film!! for example they show a shot of 1963 pre-JFK airport showing a 747 jumbo jet!!!!! the plane did not make its public debut until 1969!!! little mistakes like this bother me and destroys the "look" of the film......also Robert Deniro's first appearance on the film..he is supposed to be 28 years old...yet he looks 40!! WTC ?
Overall i love the sex, violence and profanity but needs a good editing!
300 (2006)
300 is a waste of time.....i rather go see muscle men fight naked in mud
I bought the Alexander Revisitd" DVD so i can get my own 300 movie ticket. I was so excited about it, i invited a friend to come and watch this great looking movie with me last Friday.
We got to the cinema early to get the best seats...then waited for the film to start..then it did.....and i was blown away on how bad and boring it was! totally unrealistic sets (i know CGI), bad acting, and m the worst were the HOMO erotic males in the movie, they were perfect male specimens, women were OK, slaves or enemies were a mix of retarded, beast like creatures, and the King was actually a Queen with Boy George's pencil thin eyebrows!! and a Christian Dior couture design from Paris (gimme a brake) this movie sucked
Jezebel (1938)
You must buy the newly Remastered and Restored 2006 DVD !!!
Wow, is all I can say about Bette Davi's performance is this southern tale! I have never been a Bette Davis fan, but i saw the DVD and decided to give it a try since it has been compared to Gone With The Wind, but the film was released a year prior. I t was beautifully shot in black and white and Davis is not really a beautiful woman, but she has screen presence. the acting all around is believable, the music score gripping, the lighting amazing, the sound, dance sequences superb! I gave it a 10/10. I will watch now Gone with The Wind, and compare what they stole from this movie!!
Best scene in the movie is when Bette Davis dares to wear a whore's red dress to the sophisticated young virgin's annual ball!
Thank God It's Friday (1978)
Wow...so many good actors in this film!!!
Debra winger, Jeff Goldblum, the disco queens herself Donna Summer??
That's right! You bet your sweet !!! LOL The new DVD has been digitally transferred to High Defenition!! It looks and Sounds GREAT !!
Let's go back to Los Angeles 1978 ! Great soundtrack, Diana Ross, The Commodores, The Village People, Oscar winner songwriter for Last Dance Paul Jabara, Pattie Brooks, basically the entire Casablance label was featured in this film!
This movie was rated PG, even tho it includes graphic drug use in many scenes, but back then I guess it was normal.
I recommend this fun movie for a rainy Friday night!
The Phantom of the Opera (2004)
I was blown away, if only Evita could have been made like this!
Wow, I have seen the Broadway show for the first time this past spring 2005, I did not want to see this movie until I saw the B'way show.
I finally bought the DVD, and I was blown away on how beautiful the direction, cinematography, sound, music, songs are all excellent! The phantom is a hunky hot deformed man (Gerard), his protégé is a young innocent virgin songbird! They do justice to the original B'way show veterans.
The acting is superb, Minnie driver is hysterical as the diva Carlotta, if there's any future re-relases of this movie...ie. extended, director's cut, etc, her role should be expanded and add additional scenes that were cuted from her performance, she stole the film!! She should have been nominated for a supporting role!
I have a widescreen HFTV with surround sound and I truly loved this movie . Kudos for Joel Schumacher! :)
Open Water (2003)
"Open Water".....Needs to be re-edited.....too dull until the end....
I heard great reviews about "Open Water" when it came out...."better than Jaws", "you'll never go in the water again"...etc Well, I finally rented the DVD, and as soon as the movie started I could tell it was a low-budget, amateurish, bad acted movie, with few thrilling moments.
The movie had potential to be a real thriller, unfortunately it has done by a pair of husband and wife. The actors had no chemistry and their scenes together had the feeling of being rehearsed, in one scene the actress looks for a few seconds at the camera, LOL. The few thrilling moments came at the end with a non-predictable ending, with all its flaws I still recommend Open Water just because it was based on a true story.
Air Force One (1997)
A Hell Of A Ride !!!!
Air Force One came out just a few months before "Titanic" in 1997 and up to then had the best special effects in my opinion! Exciting jet fighters action sequences and aging movie star Harrison Ford is believable as the President of the USA, Gary Oldman is excellent as the lunatic terrorist....great action sequences.
The only flaw is Glenn Close, miscast as the Vice president of the US. The score adds to the suspense of this action thriller a must on widescreen DVD!
I can watch this movie over and over again and still get chills up and down my spine!!!!
This is one of my favorite movies of all time!
Logan's Run (1976)
Dated? Who cares still fun to see York, Farrah and Jenny :)
I was 16 when I saw this movie in the theaters...all my friends and I were so excited about it. We loved it...we were not movie critics, we were kids and we liked it. We thought the storyline was fantastic and it could really happen in the future!
Now, years later I bought the widescreen version of this classic and....yes the special effects look cheap, the soundtrack is enigmatic and adds to the suspense of the drama the acting is not that bad especially from York. The voice of the Master computer is soothing and enchanting, seeing my boyhood idol Farrah Fawcett-Majors, back then she was not a great actress, just a pretty model who had an actor for a husband that helped opened doors. Jenny Agutter walks around barefoot half-naked thru the pleasure dome ! Don't expect to see the greatest movie ever made but just a silly fun flick about the future, no more no less.
Body of Evidence (1992)
12 years later the Unrated DVD version is woth seeing for Madonna's perfect body and whorish performance...
I just bought this movie on DVD. It includes the Rated and Unrated widescreen versions. The Unrated version is a cross between a X rated and drama movies.
I saw this movie in the theaters when it came out, and honestly did not remember much from it, except that Madonna was terrible. Now 12 years later, a second watch is deserved..and Madonna is still terrible and still a whore...!
The other actors, are not bad, I was surprised that Julianne Moore was in the movie, 12 years ago she was a nobody!
The Unrated version is worth seeing just because of Madonna's perfect body.
Mommie Dearest (1981)
Mommie Dearest - Cult Classic
This is perhaps along with "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" a must have for your film collection.
Faye Dunaway should have won an Oscar for this amazing portrayal of a Hollywood aging movie icon, Joan Crawford! I just bought the DVD version and I love it even more.....funny how the whole movie works with out the aid of a soundtrack!!!
The actress that plays the young Christina is fabulous, she delivers her lines like a pro...the child abusing scenes are hysterical..I laughed my ass off!!! :)
