Super Duper Alice Cooper (2014)
No Mike Bruce, No Glen Buxton
Probably because Bruce wrote a devastating book about his experiences in the band, and that he had written a lot of the material for the songs and that Alice 'abandoned them' after "Muscle Of Love" sessions were recorded. I think he's had an ax to grind with them ever since. Can't say I totally blame him either. He isn't even mentioned at the end of the film as if he didn't even exist.
Buxton was barely mentioned at all and not having an RIP at the end had to have been deliberate slap in the face on the filmmaker's part. Maybe Buxton was as bitter over the whole thing as Bruce was and the producers of this film followed the input from the management. Some kind of fallout occurred for this to happen
Not to mention, everything is done in voice-over and we don't get to see the participants as they are today. The scenes are done in that CGI diorama overlay style which is fine in some cases but I think overused here.
Overall, a not very satisfying documentary. 3 out of 10 for these glaring omissions.
On Any Sunday (1971)
Best Bruce Brown Movie
A couple of years ago, TCM showed a retrospective of Bruce Brown's surfing films from the 60s, including the well known "Endless Summer". But the one that stood out from all the rest was "On Any Sunday", a motorcycle film that still bears repeated viewings.
From what I understand, it was the film that actually introduced professional motocross racing to the rest of the country. It reminded me a lot of the 80s when I first started on trail bikes and then went to Enduro 2-strokes. I've since given up riding like that for the sake of the family, but man, it did bring back a lot of memories...
I wish I had seen it before the TCM showing but I never got around to it. Talk about falling through the radar!
The Bourne Identity (2002)
Pretty Ridiculous
What happened to "Carlos" in this new version? I guess he was out of date for the Y chromosome generation, huh? In this film, Matt Damon plays Jason Bourne like he was some kind of James Bond-like *superman* who get nary a scratch while fighting his many opponents. He even gets to beat up policeman and U.S. Embassy staff like there's no tomorrow while trying to find out who he is. He's like an unstoppable robot who's martial arts skills put Wesley Snipes in BLADE to shame. I suppose this, as well as the MTV-style editing and quick cuts will appeal to the teen and twenty-something head-banger idiots who think this is hot stuff, but I found it utterly implausible and ridiculous. An insult to my intelligence.
At least Richard Chamberlain was more believable as a man who was caught up in events beyond his control. Even in the 1988 miniseries, Chamberlain handles a gun very awkwardly and doesn't fight very well so as far as I'm concerned, he makes a more believable Jason Bourne than Damon does. Plus that was more faithful to the Ludlum book than this pile of crap.

John Q (2002)
A despicable so-called 'lesson'!
I guess many in society have become so jaded as to support hostage situations and acts of terrorism in order to preach to us about the 'lessons' concerning the state of health care in this country.
Well all preaching aside, there's nothing out there that justifies the taking of hostages, even for one's own son. I don't care if there's supposed to be a 'greater good' in all this because the ends do not justify the means.
Of course, if it doesn't fall within their own political point of view, then they'd probably abhor those actions done by individuals and groups who don't share their social agenda. In other words it's more of the same; "my 'freedom fighter' is better than your 'terrorist'" garbage.
How pathetic and sad it is that some viewers of this film have political blinders on and support criminal actions in order to make a point.

Collateral (2004)
Bad, frosted Michael Mann hair
For one thing, if anybody believes that squeaky-clean Tom Cruise is a hit man, they need to get their heads examined. And his hair frosted sliver like that. Puh-leese....
Halloween, anybody? (laughs)
And Jamie Foxx spends the whole time grimacing and making faces for the camera. This is the guy who won the Oscar last year, right???
And of course you have to have a Halle Berry-type in the form of Jada Pinkett Smith that Jamie Foxx has to save. Now why would a high-priced lawyer like her be interested in a flunkie cab driver like Jamie Foxx? More standard same-ol same-ol, I guess... (yawn...)
I thought that was idiot Will Smith's job? No?
The cliché ending is typical. Now if Mann went for a shocker like in Se7en, I'd go up a few marks and be mighty impressed.
But naww, he played it safe. No mo silver frosted hair.
It's also shot using a DV camera instead of film. Is there something wrong with film? Please go back to film until they can make digital look like film and not digital. I suppose all the techno Gen Y types thinks it looks good, but I think the whole lighting and camera thing looks like crap, especially on the big screen. I thought I was going blind since everything seemed out of focus. Maybe it looks better on DVD. Who knows...
Sorry Mann but you blew it. Grade: F

Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism (2004)
Liberal crybaby garbage
I think the previous poster tries to insult those who watch Fox News as being the "least educated (of) viewers", which I find utterly patronizing and ridiculous, not to mention, laughable. It was obviously done by pollsters who have a left-wing agenda to present and further demean conservatives who want an news alternative, away from the political-correctness of the mainstream liberal media.
The same holds true with this film which takes clips and manipulates them to present their own point of view and show the Fox Network in an unflattering light. In fact, they're doing the *exact* same thing they always accuse conservatives of doing; distorting the truth. I wouldn't be surprised if the director took his cues from Michael Moore himself.
I should also point out that the Fox Network has done nothing "criminal" since it's point of view is also protected by the 1st Amendment. The same that holds true for all those liberal rags and pro-John Kerry networks he supports.
Even after seeing this humorous movie, I will still remain a faithful viewer of Fox News. Bill O'Reilly & the Factor, rule!!
