Severance (2022)
What is identity?
Very well crafted series, excellently directed.
There are John Locke and Derek Parfit hidden between the lines, and it is definitely a pleasure to whomever interested in philosophy of mind.
At the same time the series is captivating and, while it represents a realistic, wide investigation in the ethical and epistemological implications of the theoretical hypothesis (for now) of consciousness splitting, it is also very much entertaining and intriguing.
Looking forward to seeing the next season.
È stata la mano di Dio (2021)
A waste of time
Boring as just Sorrentino can and complacently plebeian as required for any pseudo-intellectual product of these times, the movie is a monument of bad taste.
Nicely and colorfully packaged, even if wrapped with mastery, it contains just a couple of hours of your life, not his. Wasted.

Is Dong-Hyuk the new Kubrick?
I reluctantly watched the first episode of Squid Game, since Netflix products almost always disappointed me, and I must admit that what glued me to this unusual series initially were just the sophisticated choice of the Escher-like scenography and the trumpet concert by Haydn. Going on, however, I enjoyed a lot the inspired director's visionary touch, the non-trivial sociological inputs, and the appreciated revisitations of some iconic scenes from Stanley Kubrick's masterpieces. While I agree that the finale is just an add-on and a justification for a second series, quite weak actually, I like to imagine that the true meaning of the "haircut scene" was no more than the demarcation and the underlining of the desired original director's cut itself. A good product, finally.
Hammamet (2020)
Excellent Favino
Who controls the present controls the past, Orwell wrote in 1984.This movie is a courageous attempt to restore Bettino Craxi as a human being, after having been politically destroyed by left-wing judges in the only judiciary-driven coup of Italian history. In itself is not much more than a documentary but Favino puts such heart and soul into his character that makes the movie enjoyable and didactic.
The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017)
The director and screenwrighter should change job
How lucky me, having watched the movie without spending other than my time. Forget the director and stay away from his movies, should he ever direct again. The only tragedy in scene here is the one of an incompetent and absolutely ignorant videomaker who insults the intelligence and culture of whomever trips in his works, who wastes the time of the audience and the money of his producers, delivering the more senseless and pathetically stupid movie ever. It does not suffice to be a Greek to transfer the spirit of classic tragedies into the big screen. It is necessary to understand them first, which is highly improbable. This is pure s***, despite the cast. You want to see it anyway? Do not tell I did not advise you!
