Dexter: New Blood (2021–2022)
8/10
Hate to see it end...but I get it
25 January 2022
As a revival series it was great to see Michael C Hall back yet again as Dexter!

It was a great series originally and seeing this mini series take off in a fresh continuation and new chapter in the Dexter franchise was great and made sense, based on the location, lifestyle of the character and how things have progressed overtime.

But the ending of Episode 10 was bitter sweet and although upsetting and quite unexpected also abrupt with Dexter's actions, it was understandable, made sense on his emotional impulse.

Great cameos, acting and the Angela character is hot.

Should they make a spinoff series? Probably not.

Bruised? More like confused and waste of time
16 December 2021
This movie was a complete waste of time, money and production.

Halle Berry should stick to acting or modelling...that's it.

Story was completely rubbish, crap idea and waste of time trying to be PC and culturally relevant...just horse crap.

Don't even dare to put this movie with the liked of Warrior, not even worth to mention the name of this movie.

Do yourself a favour, skip this movie unless you would like to see Halle Berry semi nude, probably the only best thing in this film...

Unfortunately IMDb doesn't give a 0 option for rating so forced to even out 1.

Boring
17 October 2021
Boring story, action mediocre, great marketing for Will Smith.

The movie felt like one big technical experiment to test facial cloning technology in a movie.

I felt very disconnected, bored and and the bulk of the budget was definitely focused on the whole clone aspect, as each scene location barely had extras.

The story was a watered down version of Frankenstein.

Very disappointing movie, had a bigger expectation.

What a shame...
16 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This sequel is a prime example of when too many ideas are put on paper that don't serve the purpose of the story but only to serve the genre to try and make money with too many typical jump scare scenes and repetitive slasher scenes that have no reason to be in the story.

The movie should just simply have started with a direct continuation from its predecessor, with Jamie Lee Curtis in the car to the hospital and have a "on the run" style of story that would have lead well into Halloween ends that could have made nicely to focus on Curtis "hunting down" Michael Myers for revenge to tie off the ending of Halloween Kills.

Of course keeping things simple and effective is not enough which has lead this movie to a very disconnected and "trying to be a thriller/horror/slasher flick" movie.

The fact that Michael was shot soo many times, slashed, smacked in the head with bricks, stomped on the head, stabbed in the neck and even burned down from the previous film and is still alive is complete nonsense.

He's not made out to be a supernatural and is in human form so he well would have been dead by now. The fact he keeps surviving made this a complete nonsense experience.

You can also just tell that the ending of Halloween Kills was just thought of last minute to "play off" a good idea someone might've had in the office to keep the franchise going that had no logical effect and was just stupid.

If you want a popcorn flick with no intellect that has a killer who happens to have 20 lives then this is your movie, but definitely not what I had expected

The trailer was better than this movie.

Boring
25 September 2021
I felt disconnected to the characters and especially the story. Very boring and nothing made sense. Had potentially to be a solid film but turned out to be a weak knock off version of Fantasy Island which was better than this. Stopped the movie after approx. 35mins as I kept hoping for the movie to turn around and suprise me with a glimmer of thriller hope that I felt compelled to give the movie a go from the trailer.

Suggest to give this one a miss...

Rockin out the classic Martial arts B grade!!
11 September 2021
If you're a big fan of martial arts movies especially the old school b grade style, then you'll love this movie for sure!

Great martial arts choreography, super talented action from the Martial Club guys, funny humour, some emotional depth and a fun kick ass film to relive some of the past memories!

Give this one a shot you won't be disappointed.

Notbad, just undercooked
24 August 2021
This movie really hit the mark. Overall was entertaining as Jason Momoa and his pretty daughter carry the movie with some solid acting but the story was scattered everywhere and choppy.

I don't want to spoil anything but the movie had very unnecessary usages of flashback in time and the twist at the end was completely thrown in to just attempt at being smart and different for the sake of it.

Definitely the twist could have been avoided and it there was no build up momentum or even good references for it to even be used at the end.

A movie that attempts to swing big but comes up short... If you want a mindless action flick to put in the background, give this a crack.

What a shame...
22 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This movie had so much potential.

Great acting from unknown actors that felt very believable and nice cinematography but the story and movie execution was weak and disappointing.

The movie was trying too hard to blend fantasy horror with nonsense scare tactics for the audience to try and make the movie something more than it should.

As the saying goes, keep things simple.

The story should have stayed true to its course and should have concentrated on having the daughter with the couple with a haunted doll.

The movies focus on a living room wall with monster-esque fantasy popping out is amateurish, childish and does not serve the purpose of the story, just trying to be scary for no reason.

The opening of the film did not show clearly how the couple even travelled to the UK.

I tuned out almost mid way of the film as I was trying to give it a go because of the acting and cinematography that was nice to see.

This movie could have been good.

Quite the surprise
22 August 2021
I actually enjoyed this movie.

After watching the trailer initially I didn't have an expectation to enjoy this movie. I thought it was just the decline of Russell Crowes performance choice as gone are the days of Gladiator.

But after watching this movie, I was thoroughly entertained and surprised.

Sure there were some loophole and question mark moments that felt either unanswered, cliche'd or far fetched, but this movie wasn't made for an intellectual view, mystery puzzle story, it's not set out to be a psychological thriller, horror or gorey movie either.

It's a straight forward intense thriller that pays omage to the classic psychotic thriller movies we grew with in the past.

A fun, intense and mindless view for any casual viewer to enjoy and be entertained for sure.

Intense and original!
21 September 2020
Take away the gore. Take away the horror element, this is a solid film!

Considering the original concept of how James and Leigh came up with the story idea, made a short film and got a chance to make this movie, the story is pretty well written, acting is fun and the ending closes with a bang!

There's definitely more flashback scenes than I would like but still serves the story well.

This is definitely the best Saw movie out of the franchise and if you haven't seen this one or scared to watch it, grab some friends and you won't be disappointed!

Entertaining and cheesier with cliches and a decent plot twist.

If you're looking to watch a horror/thriller movie for fun and not care about the realism of the story, then check it out!

A solid war film!
11 September 2020
After enjoying the trailer, and being a fan of Asian cinema, I went to the movies to watch The Eight Hundred.

As the movie is based on a true story and true events, it was very interesting to see a different kind of war film that's not Hollywood-ised and the great high quality production certainly was impressive.

The movie is gripping, intense with solid tension building throughout the movie, lots of action guns and bombs with great performances that I believe the actors deserve great credit for.

The writing and direction by Guan Hu was very impressive with nice stylised cinematography.

My own dilemmas with the movie was the pacing, story beats and focus on the central story. The movie felt too split everywhere into different perspectives and doesn't focus on a singular character or group to follow the story properly.

There was no clear goal or focus for us as the audience to keep an emotional core building. The essence of Chinese patriotism is the front runner story but I felt it took away from my attachment to following a core protagonist/s with their story instead of the theme or essence of patriotism.

There's lots of invasion attempts and warfare action with some heartfelt emotional scenes, but not a clear storyline direction that makes it understandable to follow.

Make sure to give this movie a go, it's definitely an experience!

Entertaining but too stock standard and very undercooked!
8 September 2020
Entertaining movie but very stock standard family adventure movie.

This movie doesn't need to be boycotted and I don't see why it's necessary for that. Again that's one of the stupid social society marketing ploys that people do to get attention.

This movie gives it a fair go but just doesn't hit the beats on time.

Acting was lacking emotional depth, overall characters performances are bland, story is very standard cliche, too much wire and CG work and shame we don't see more Jet Li and Donnie Yen have enough time for better cinematic Kung Fu magic on screen.

The movie had potential but very undercooked.

If you have nothing better to watch or do and just want some mindless entertainment, then give this one a go.

Great movie! Shame not many know about it!
26 August 2020
This movie is a rare gem for indie cinema!

I luckily was able to watch this on my movie box since there is an international selection of cinema movies on the app. Since then I never got to see this anywhere on DVD and the app itself.

I believe it's unfortunate that not many people know about this movie given it had a limited release globally.

I watched this movie and enjoyed it alot!!

It'd definitely a drama that turn into a thriller-ish style with strong, intensity, great acting and story telling.

The movie focuses on a raw, realistic feel of cinematography and story rather than a very cinematic genre specific style.

I you liked the movie Whiplash, then you will love Vanvittig Forelsket (Love and Rage) as it is more realistically filmed and executed brilliantly!

What's the point of the movie?
31 July 2020
What's the point of the movie?

The movie is boring, dull and holds no value of premise, theme, conflict, character development and story.

It's disappointing to see others review this movie and call it an artistic masterpiece.

There's no real conflict that's driving the story besides the petty little childish ego battles between the Andrzej and the young man. This is not enough to deliver a strong rift of conflict, and doesn't give an experience of suspense and intensity.

A movie called Dead Calm from 1989 even though is highly commercial in style still provides a better suspenseful and memorable experience that's similar in context of being on a boat in a similar thematic idea.

From the beginning of Knife in the water, I find it very hard to believe someone would allow a stranger that easily to join along their activities.

There was no rapport no connection built over the course of time or even a couple days of interaction to even say the story would proceed the way it does. It's un-natural and not organic. The story had lots of potential but it's too focused on cliche ideas.

The only interesting take I'd say from the movie is it's cinematography which was done well.

Average, should have been a darker story
25 February 2020
This movie is definitely not Bongs best and certainly not the most entertaining.

The music score didn't suit the movie, some of the acting too eccentric and doesn't match the movies story, instead of the over the top corporation performance's it should have shown more emotionless and robotic business characters than over the top personalities.

The movie should have gone from light humorous to more darker tones which would have been more emotionally involving for an audience/viewer.

Good to watch once, but that's about it...

Boring and childish...
21 February 2020
For an Australian movie I'm not surprised that this was slow and dull but overall was definitely boring and not scary..

Emotionally I didn't find myself invested to enjoy the story and the thriller/horror element was not on a high level.

The film tries to be scary with the Babadook book, I just found it too childish and unoriginal.

Get Out is a predictable movie but fun and entertaining.

It's a thriller/horror version of Guess who's coming home for dinner...wouldn't say it's an original screenplay

Overall a fun movie

A very solid movie!!
21 February 2020
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, was definitely a surprise!!

As this Halloween is a sequel direct to the original John Carpenter movie, it definitely does a great job even better than the original!

The original was boring, dull and very amateuristic style film making but this movie does definitely do justice to the Halloween brand as it should be!

Very intimidating, gripping, bloody, intense and great performances. Loved the ending!

Make sure to check this out and a great omage to the classic slasher movies!!!

Meh...nothing special
21 February 2020
This movie is definitely overhyped.

Compared to Get Out this one doesn't play on the same field as a solid thriller/horror movie...

I enjoyed but also didn't as only the acting kept me interested to want to keep watching.

The story was weak with some loopholes that didn't make sense or were not shown/explained properly, no major twist surprises besides very little at the end of the movie.

Some parts could have been better, the humour was good and the soundtrack overall.

Worth to watch but don't have expectations...

21 February 2020
I actually didn't mind this movie, it's the type of movie you just watch and don't have to think or concentrate. I would say it's a watered down less gorey version, taking a page out of Saw but in the Escape Room theme.

Entertaining, fun and better than I thought, worth to watch if you've got nothing else planned to see...

Don't bother it's not what you think...
21 February 2020
This movie was boring, nothing made sense until somewhat of the ending, the movie tried to be scary rather than actually be scary with its story. The reveal of the twist at the end was stupid with no emotional grab for the audience and trying to be mythologically smart. If you want some weird movie that tries to be smart and make sense, then waste your time with this...
