Boku dake ga inai machi (2016)
Great start, but it falls near the end?
I was gonna give this a 6/10. But made it a 7/10.
Now, what can I say about this? Well, the beginning was intriguing and great. I knew there was good potential for this to be the greatest winter anime of 2016! I was hooked and binge watched all the episodes that were released! (I didn't watch when it released, only when there were 5 episodes available at the time and I loved it.) And barely any show can do that to me!
I'm working on my own thing currently and I made time for this show. There were so many things going great! Until episode 10 came along. Not gonna spoil anything, but if you were to watch it? And yeah, you should. But personally? No. The ship didn't sink, but no doubt it was damaged. (A methapor to saying it had a good start until that episode, just to clarify that. And might mean something else too now that I think about it. But a ship that totally sunk. Now that's a spoiler.)
Anyway, I thought they were gonna do something around episode 11 and it didn't happen the way I wanted. But granted, episode 11 was intriguing and it seemed like the first episode? Dunno. It strangely made me feel like there was more to go on is what I'm trying to say, but we are nearing the end and I know it won't be good since I have the feeling that it could've been longer and done better.
So, episode 12 happens and there you have it. Now, some might not like what happened from then on. (Just like me.) But I gotta say? It wasn't that bad. You may feel mixed around episode 10 or maybe 9 for that matter, but I suggest you should watch it if there isn't anything good on and you haven't watched it.
Regarding the ending too. (This is for those who watched the show.) Some of you that may have not liked it. But it sort of adds realism. This isn't a fairy tale or fantasy even though it has elements. This show was going for that realism and sadly they failed in my opinion. And you might agree too. But I would love to see that more and rightfully done in future stories. May it be in a book/TV show/movie or whatever.
Never Alone (2014)
A fun short game
I got this for free a long time ago on my PS4 when it was free for PS Plus Subscribers. Just a few days ago me and my cousin decided to play it through and it was pretty fun.
The gameplay is decent enough, ran into some bugs however these were pretty funny bugs I might add. We had a good chuckle whenever I ran into one.
The story is kind of okay since I never really got it. Seems that it changes however do not want to spoil much. Let's just say the adventure starts from some conflict usually however along with another conflict that makes the previous conflict go out the window. However the adventure goes as if the previous conflict was still happening. You'll get it if you buy it or get it for free like me.
Overall not much to say. There are unlockables that feature the Inupiat people telling stories that relate to what's gonna happen or what is during the game. It's very fun to watch since I'm Native myself learning about another culture than my own that I was brought up on. There was an insight about The Northern Lights which is a little different from us Cree Natives. A little spoiler here; basically those are children who have passed on. They play in the sky as Northern Lights from the Inupiat people. What my grandpa had said those who people who have passed and they come out to dance. There are dangers of them both for you cannot point at them or smell the Northern Lights. In the Inupiat people's dangers they are kids who want to play football with your head! So don't draw them near.
But like I said this was a fun game. That's all I have to say. If you want to know their culture and enjoy a good story? Go ahead I believe it's a great purchase when it's on sale.
Sora no manimani (2009)
It depends on if you just want to just watch
So I gotta say, this anime had the romance tag and it doesn't have that much romance. It's one of those anime that is just randomly made from a light novel, manga or game where it will have some episodes however never finish the story in the anime. It only has one season and I don't see it continuing.
But if you want to watch just for the heck of it I say yeah okay, the comedy isn't anything special however it has a feel good vibe if you just want to watch for that. I don't want to say it was a waste of time considering that's all I had when I took the time to watch this. But if your time is precious do not bother. That's it for my review and I hope it helps anyone in the long run.
In Your Eyes (2014)
One good love story
Okay, my score may be too low? But I don't really like love stories but this could have been so much better but what I got was pretty good enough. So let me just start off by saying this: It had some slow moments and they could've easily added things that would actually make it a bit more logical. For instance they could've easily talked to each other on a bluetooth or phone! There are some stupid actions they did that could've been avoided also shortening the story which I would've loved since it was kind of too long. And to top it all off why didn't they exchange emails or give out actual phone numbers? Okay I'm done.
The story itself is probably the most understandable and logical explanation to where their bonds can be more closer to each other since they can feel and see what's happening to each other! Although a lot of things left unexplained, hey Joss wrote this right? Couldn't he have just added in some easter eggs about The Avengers or Agents of Shield? Meaning if they are in the superhero universe that they could have joined Shield right? Or explain that they have powers for simply living in that universe! If that were the case I wouldn't need a lot of detail or maybe their destination and ending could have changed trying to find headquarters of Shield.
Anyway enough superhero talk! Let me say this: For a love story I found this rather amusing, considering I absolutely abhor love stories in movies! We've seen it all before but this one was too good to look away despite it's flaws. The dialogue is entertaining and funny, chemistry builds that actually makes the two lovers get close. The only reason why I actually liked this one is because they can feel each other and that they actually are kind of made for each other since they cannot be separated, literally meaning that in a sense they can't really date anyone else than themselves. This is the closest thing I've ever seen in a love story that true love might actually exist! All and all I gotta say do not skip this romance movie.
Tiger & Bunny (2011)
Awesome anime about superheroes!
This show is too good it is quite unique relationship wise. For me while watching the show, I absolutely loved Barnaby and Kotetsu's relationship as a team and as friends. The real reason I like the show is because of that! There is hardly any romance involved and this show will prove you don't need romance in everything as long that there's a great relationship of friends, family and/or even pets! This is a rare show for me I'd say, but there is a little romance. However once you see the romantic interest you know it won't go anywhere because of a certain reason that is understandable. The story is wonderful though cliché for a superhero show. The ending is great and makes you wonder if there can be more or that's good enough of a ending. The characters are likable for the most part and no doubt some of them have their own story arcs among the episodes. For me I think the show was good and I count this as my favourite anime's of all time too! Well in my opinion. So should you watch this show? Yeah go ahead! You won't be disappointed in the characters and chemistry between the main ones.
We Were Children (2012)
Review from a Native in Canada.
Hello my name is Julian, I am currently 17 years old and born 1997 to let you know my age for the future. It was an experience to see my people back in the day and also sad. I am a Cree Native and never really got to learn my language fully, though I believe the people in my community gave up on that since we aren't getting classes for it now from grade 9 to 12. But focus on the movie, it was so sad and inspired me to make a story. Not going into full detail just that this movie is a must see for those who want to know our history and others who want to know from a different race. I believe race shouldn't matter, its sort of stupid to judge someone based on their skin. What if aliens exist? They would say we are stupid for fighting each other. Sorry if this review isn't mostly about the movie but I have to speak my mind on how it made me think through it, not to mention I don't want to spoil too much. Just watch it, trust me. Look at my ratings I find myself a movie critic and this is great.
Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo (2012)
A anime that is worth a watch.
Although I gave it a 6/10. This show is pretty much OK to watch, since this is a spoiler! Not as much, you have your typical girl and guy relationship, along with another who won't even get close to hooking up with the main character. But it has an awesome moral to this show! Failure. We all go through life with the hopes of something very good, though it will end in failure. Shina the main love interest. Is a painter and a very great one at that. She is considered a great artist well known by either art lovers or rich folks such as herself. As she moves to Sakurasou with the hopes of becoming a Manga artist. The people staying at that place is trying so hard with their own goals, though nothing ever comes good, they always find a way to be OK with it. Despite giving your all wasn't enough. That is a very strong subject implanted in this show. It could've done very well in just 13 or 12 episodes long, though the show is dragged on with your typical love stories, its the main reason to my 6. Nothing very creative other than the subject in this show. Still I'd give it a watch, though it was only once and it will stay a one time deal.
Hercules (2014)
Very great.
It was a good movie in my case. The Rock movie or I mean Hercules was good. Action, typical romance. The hero is in parts where he'll die but he's the main character so he won't. Cliché. Nothing really more to say, I'm just writing this to fit in or I'm a person who isn't passionate enough for movie reviewing but still I count! So I must be important now! Anyway big star = 10 stars or more! Doesn't matter, if people like the actors then I would too! My friends talk about him or follow him on twitter or Facebook. Inception and all these so called great movies cannot compare to our cliché loving movies! Now I must go rate another 10 star rating to a movie I have yet to review. But still its gonna be a hit!
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)
An adventure that is underrated and overrated
Lets start off by saying I have seen Lord of The Rings Trilogy, I must say it was good to be 7 out of 10 however cannot help but say parts of other stories had me not caring in the least. The Hobbit? I loved it, not a movie you see everyday or years after its over! Now lets start by saying we know what will happen considering Bilbo and Gandalf will make it through since this was before LOTR. But I cannot help but love how there is no typical love story in this! The reason why I say never see again because almost each movie needs a hero who has a toy to play with or get with in the end. I say it kind of makes women in movies nothing but toys, there are movies with lead girls but even they find a toy but most tend to not care for them. As a writer and hoping on making his own stories on screen or at least made onto a website and internet. I want to see unique stories not too complex and not too predictable like every movie. I gave The Hobbit an 8 out of 10 could've been a great movie but like I said, predictable but of course a fun watch. Some parts seemed too long and some parts seemed too short, well what do you expect from movies 2 hours long? And sad to say some movies are too short for their own good! In short for a long complaint of movies in my taste, I love fantasy and this was a great adventure to see.
