Battle Hymn (1957)
Hollywood, tell the true stories!
There are so many great TRUE stories in the world, and every time hollywood twists it to make it something else, it's a disaster. Why is hollywood so afraid of the truth?? Read the autobiography Battle Hymn by Major Dean Hess. If only the script would have gone along with reality, it would have been a great movie. We have a lot to learn and appreciate from real heroes, who are becoming scarce.
I liked the plane fight scenes, the orphan scenes and this movie showcased probably my favorite character for Dan Duryea. I did not appreciate the hinting of possible romantic feelings between Hess and En Soon Yung. James Edwards had a small but admirable part as Lt Maples. I was saddened by Dan DeFore's character, who appears to have died not knowing Jesus' saving grace. But mainly, Major Hess's character and script was wrong in too many important ways.
IndoctriNation (2011)
Get a REAL Education!
This movie has done what no one else has yet - tell the true story of America's education system. It is done with many interviews of people who are in the system and tell the truth behind the purpose and results. It is failing to educate because it was never meant to. Its purpose is to indoctrinate the masses into communism, atheism and submission to a corrupt government system. This movie is so important that I bought it and a companion book. The website has some resources like the timeline and Scriptures which true Christians should study and implement. The following is a synopsis from the website:
Sadly, most American Christian children are being discipled daily by pro-choice secularists, atheists, evolutionists, politicized bureaucrats, far left unions and oftentimes even child molesters. Under the guise of education the publicly funded monopoly of Government schools has engaged in a vast program of social engineering designed to eradicate the Christian faith from American life. This film warns Christians about the subversive and anti-Christian nature of the American education system and calls on all Christians to participate in a mass exodus from government education for the sake of their children and the future of America.
The film asks:
Who established the American public schools system?
Are my kids physically and morally safe in the schools?
Are the public schools religiously neutral?
Shouldn't Christians be "salt and light" in the schools?
Can the public school system be fixed or redeemed?
Hazel: Hazel's Dog Days (1962)
Tear-jerker :)
I love all the Hazel shows and many are favorites. I am glad that I bought the first season. The gems of this episode come at the end when the little girl selflessly gives up her dog, Mikey, to Harold. She whispered to her father that she didn't want to see Harold cry and besides, Mikey did run away to him. The girl decides to accept the dancing poodle, Pierre, who needed a home because the owners were going to Europe. Both children are now happy. Before the celebration breakfast, Harold has "something he has to do", which is to kneel by the sofa and give thanks to God in prayer, with Smiley by his side. Hazel sees this and says, "Move over, Smiley." and joins in the thanksgiving. Now that is a true happy ending.
