TV Burp (2001)
Don't Think, Just Enjoy it.
This is one of the few jewels in the ITV schedule. Not known for doing anything other than a total banker this little gem popped onto ITV screens several years ago and has quickly become a weekly staple of people who are fans of all types of comedy.
The format of mostly, just Harry sitting and giving glib comments of the weeks T.V. showing the clips concerned is simple enough, but the delivery and timing makes the interaction between viewer and presenter into a 'conversation in the pub' arrangement. This appears effortless but must take huge preparation.
Harry Hill's ability to get a bizarre angle on something which passed everyone else by is key to the comedy.
Most of all it is truly funny family entertainment, and let's face it, family comedy is usually only funny for the younger generation.
King Kong (2005)
Some cool scenes and great cast but ultimately bland!
In the end great CGI cannot save a poor movie.
This is a film which didn't need making like this. Too much nonsense going on, thin on plot, thin on character, woefully underused-great cast. (Jack Black and Noimi Watts are usually bankers but they never seem to be let loose on the script.)
If you like effects this has great effects by the bucketful, and the actual characterization of the beast is stunning. Andy Sirkis is a bit of a saving figure, and I believe he was the motion model for Kong.
I also feel that the CGI in this is no better than Jurassic Park (maybe worse.) have we come nowhere since then?
All in all though a waste of 3 hours of my life!
The Bourne Identity (2002)
Disappointing _ Don't fight the plot it's too Weak!
There were some well shot scenes and Matt Damon's dead-pan portrayal of the main character fits in nicely. Other than that, if you know the basic premise of the film you have it all. There's nothing more to it than that. Nothing too silly like Bond films, but no real suspense or drama either. Casting was good. Brian Cox never gives a bad performance and Clive Owen's turn about in character once caught is a nice touch. I think you need to feel for the characters a little, but I couldn't bring myself to feel one way or another about them. All in all a bit of a let down. I must confess I will still watch the Bourne Supremacy when I get the chance so it can have been all bad.
