Stranger Things: Chapter Seven: The Lost Sister (2017)
Hawkins Lab turns American accented girl into another dialect
This episode is the worst of all the Second Season.
The cheapest songs too. (all the good 80's songs must be too expensive)
The wierdest thing with this ep is where Kali as a kid in the Rainbow Room developed an American accent, but when she escaped she obviously picked up an English accent by hanging out in Illinois. I am willing to suspend a bit of disbelief, but not that much
Call Me by Your Name (2017)
Someone needs smoking lessons
Apart from being distracted by the mother obviously having never havinvg smoked a cigarette in her life (couldn't someone have coached her?)....the acting was good. The scenery was very nice...but the story was dull. If you watch the first 10 minutes and aren't interested....bail out. It doesn't get better.
I stopped watching after 1 and a half hours. The other 2 people with me agreed.
I never read the book. I'm wondering if all the 10/10 reviews are for the book. not the film.
I really tried to like the film but I couldn't.
Darkest Hour (2017)
Brilliant and emotional
This film is absolutely brilliant from the acting to the sets..the editing is tight. Thrilling. It took me about 1 minute to accept Gary Oldham as Churchill...after that I was sold.
Probably my favorite film of 2017 so far. Pacing is superb. Historically pretty accurate
It's a must see for any WW2 fans, political fans and Winston Churchill fans.
Saints and Soldiers (2003)
Realistic
I thought this film was very good. What I particularly liked was that this is almost the very first film I have seen where the weapons for each side were accurate. Not M-60 tanks dressed up as Panzers etc. They even had one German soldier with a StG44. Half tracks were correct on the respective sides too. My only minor gripe was that although the guy who played the British Pilot put in a great performance, why didn't they use a real Englishman? The acting was excellent. I saw it for the first time on Neflix. If you are a WW2 buff you will like this film. I'm surprised I never heard of it....maybe I'm not as up on films as I thought!
