The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 6: From the Desert Comes a Stranger (2022)
Clint Eastwood or Kathleen Kennedy?
I feel as though I'm watching a series within a series, because I am. The Mandalorian is the Clint Eastwood era Boba we yearned for. Not sure why this is, hope it isn't an on screen battle for who was right in the board room during an investor meeting. Boba should be everything Mando is but more so in terms of cunning, skill, and greed. The Book of Boba Fett should have been a hybrid of the Godfather and A Fist Full of Dollars in space.
Hope they're able to somehow explain this tonal deviation. How hard is it to make The Book of Boba Fett, the Spaghetti Western character he ALWAYS should have been. Boba is/should be Mando with a harder heart while simultaneously having a glimpse of goodness. The audience should never be quite certain if Boba's goodness is real or profit driven. I suppose how much I'll like/loathe this series will be determined next week.
The Mandalorian (2019)
The Star Wars fans deserve.
The show is great as a whole and the brief run time works in its favor. The best character just so happens to be Kara Dune, a strong independent female both onscreen and off. In addition the relationship between the Mandalorian and "baby yoda" is cute while simultaneously providing a reason for audiences to have a vested interest in uncovering related mysteries.
Locke & Key (2020)
Entertaining show but can't figure out who it's for.
Entertaining show but can't figure out who it's for. The vast majority of the show is PG which would make it great to watch with the kids but then there's mild sex scenes which make it PG13 only to include a scene of Erotic Asphyxiation bringing it to an R rating. Pick an age group and stick with it. Other than the shotgun approach to a target audience the show is fun to watch, just wish they would have made it to watch with the family or go all the way for a 17+ audience.
The Ballad of Lefty Brown (2017)
The best western you've never heard of.
Imagine a cross between Unforgiven, a murder mystery, and Life Goes On. This is a western with heart. I have no idea why no one has heard of this film but it is definitely a tragedy. If you enjoy a western ala Clint Eastwood while simultaneously enjoying Lt. Columbo, you owe it to yourself to give this film a chance.
Bless the Harts: Mega-Lo-Memories (2019)
Reminds me of King of The Hill, This show has Hart.
No Idea why this show has less than stellar reviews. Bless the Harts has something missing from modern television and it's contained in the title. Is it laugh out loud funny, no but most shows aren't. Please give this show a chance, I'd hate for it to be cancelled. It's a bit crass while simultaneously being wholesome.
The Witcher (2019)
The show Entertainment Weekly was too lazy to watch before reviewing it.
Mediocre minds may have difficulty following the plot due to a few too many flashbacks and flashforwards. Luckily anyone with an IQ over 100 will have no issues understanding the timeline. I have the Witcher 3 and haven't played it and have never read a solitary book in the series. That said I never felt lost or at a disadvantage for only watching the show.
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (2019)
The best reason to continue my Netflix subscription
1982, 4yr old me was scarred shi_less in the theater yet enthralled. Fast forward to 2019 I heard The Dark Crystal is now a TV show on Netflix and feelings of youthful fear and excitement flooded my veins. I quickly logged into Netflix to hopefully experience time travel and I can enthusiastically report I wasn't disappointed.
The world of Dark Crystal immediately wrapped me in a blanket of nostalgic warmth. All of the wonder and awe I felt as a 4yr old boy flooded back, and I was completely enraptured. The story is no doubt excellent, but beyond that Age of Resistance is a modern time capsule that employs traditional puppetry. C.G. is used so sparingly that 1982 is alive again.
You owe it to yourself to watch at the very least 2 episodes. If you do this and aren't fully on board, you might possibly be dead inside. My only concerns are, after completing season 1 is will Netflix realize the absolute gem they've created and how quickly can they complete season 2.
Side Note: Netflix has thankfully kept the mandatory modern "woke" bullsh_t to a minimum.
Dave Chappelle: Sticks & Stones (2019)
Mini Review
In an era where regulating speech is not enough, rather regulating thought is the ultimate goal. Dave Chappelle is a defibrillator to the heart of freedom. Rights, like muscles atrophy when not exercised and Dave is working out .
No subject is off limits during Sticks and Stones. He spreads the love South Park style. Expect to laugh at others but be prepared to laugh at yourself as well.

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018)
Yay Poochie is dead!
He-ra is not getting a season 4. It wasn't for fans of the original or even for kids. This show was woke garbage for 30 to 40 year old Subaru Outback owners.
Alita: Battle Angel (2019)
Could have gone so wrong, thankfully Alita went oh so right
Took my 3 boys to see Alita yesterday and they loved it. She was a strong female character but she had depth and was extremely likeable, unlike another female super hero whose film was just released.
Rosa Salazar did a fantastic job of capturing the innocence and resolve of Alita. The movie didn't tear down men to empower women so I suppose that's problematic in some circles. I don't necessarily dislike strong female characters, however I love females with strong character and Alita is choked full of it.
Captain Marvel (2019)
Captain Mehvel is the Okayest
Captain Mehvel is the okayest. If you must see the film in the theater, do it solo. I cannot in good conscience recommend spending the money to take the entire family to the mediocrity that is Captain Marvel. Of the many Marvel films I've seen unfortunately this is probably the worst, watchable but still the worst.
The Grinch (2018)
Will be dated in 10 years, will never reach classic status.
Cons:
*Overall weak pop sountrack that will not age well.
*Narrator's voice is out of place for an animated film.
*Grinch's voice was unremarkable
Pros:
*Likeable characters
*Brilliant and colorful atmosphere/environment
*Writers did a solid job of taking a 20 some odd minute TV Xmas special based on a short children's book and converting it to a full length film.
