Truth Seekers (2020)
Disappointing
I was looking forward to this but I was very disappointed as the duo aren't actually in it together that much, less than 5% of the series, it's Nick Frosts show and I'm afraid he doesn't have the charisma of Simon Pegg. It's not bad it's just alot less than I was expecting.
Real shame
The Handmaid's Tale (2017)
Season 1 amazing
I loved season 1 it had all the elements required to keep you gripped and engaged. Disappointed with the start of season 2 because I see June as a heroine, a survivor so why she has become a sex addict is unbelievable, personally I think it's bad taste, she has been violated and used but as soon as she's free she's a nymphomanic?! just doesnt add up for me, it's far removed from what I expected her to be. So I'll rate it a 7 for season 1.
The Old Guard (2020)
Trash
One word for this film
Trash
Don't waste your time.
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (2019)
Not great
This film is way too glossy for the truly evil, wicked and vile man Ted Bundy was, Zac Efron is far to handsome and laid back to play him, I've watched the Ted Bundy tapes and read books on him and he just doesn't capture his manipulative mannerisms in the right way. It is a made for TV film at most, the best moments are the end showing real footage. If you want an insight into one of the most notorious serial killers of all time check out the Ted Bundy tapes its raw, chilling, unnerving and brilliant.
The Last Kingdom: Episode #4.1 (2020)
So Disappointed
I love this series but this season is awful, the music is so over bearing you can't hear the characters speak. They have made it too slick noone has a hair out of place or dirt on their face anymore, where the previous seasons had an edge to them. The dialogue has become slack and so has the story line. The story has become like a soap opera and I'm so disappointed in it.
Netflix please stop putting crappy music scores over good programmes it totally ruins it and adds absolutely nothing. Music to set a scene is fine but for every converdstion it's just off putting.
The only saving grace is Utred, he's still hot.
Noughts + Crosses (2020)
For teenagers
I didn't like it, I found it rather crass, anyone could write that type of story it lacked vision and seemed to try and make Caucasian viewers feel that they should be ashamed of the colour of their skin. Why can't we all just get along? We live in such a diverse society now surely there's enough hatred in the world without bringing more tension. I really don't think this series was money well spent, it looked awful too, fake and the acting is below par. I think making this was a poor decision.
Dragged Across Concrete (2018)
Absolute rot
Don't waste your time with this trash. Bad dialogue stilted story that makes no sense and not one nice decent character in it. A list stars really should converse with their agents better.
Messiah (2020)
Intriguing
I really liked this show it was different to my usual choices and I'm glad I gave it a go as it had me hooked. The lead actor who plays messiah is fantastic a great choice. The concept is original and it kept it's pace right up till the end. I really hope there is a season 2.
The Witcher (2019)
The Bewitching Witcher
I really enjoyed it, I don't know anything about the books or the video game, but I thought it was great, Henry Cavill as the Witcher is perfect and he leads the show, the CGI is good the story is good the only issue i have is the age of the female lead Yenefer I personally think an older actress would have been more suited to the role, i just find it uncomfortable her being alot younger (15 years at least) than the male lead. I still thoroughly recommend it though, It reminds me of Vikings with a dash of GOT. Sad I've got to wait a whole year for season 2
6 Underground (2019)
Just about had enough of Netflix
Yes Netflix with your insanely awful 'Original' films WTF!!
This is by far one of the worst I've seen, from the constant close up clips to the car scene that went on for what felt like a lifetime. I switched it off half way through, as much as I love Ryan Reynolds it just boils down to him having a pretty face basic comedy timing and a sharp wit but he annoyed me so much in this farce he's made me think he is just a sell out who wants money and doesn't give a toss about content or believability.
Bad Netflix bad.
Gold Digger (2019)
Watch it in one sitting and the forget it
I didn't mind it actually, I liked the male lead character far more than any of the others including her children and the ex husband wife beater who may I add is far far worse than this young man even if he is after her cash, which by the way is the only reason I could ever see him sticking around as his older lover is totally unremarkable, wet, mumsy and slobbish I was on his side and I hope if there is a series 2 sees him take her for all her money haha
Prison Break (2005)
Like marmite you either love it or hate it!
And I hate it. From the cheesy music score the wooden acting the script the story line did I say the acting?? It's bad I get that I'm late to the party and maybe in 2005 it was good .... hang on let me think about that for a second.... erm no still cheesy still wooden still bloody awful.
Lots more thrillers in the sea don't waste your time on this travesty.
Wentworth Miller is pretty though 😉
Joker (2019)
Best Joker portrayal ever!!!
I was so looking forward to seeing this film and oh boy was I NOT disappointed, everything about it is first class from the storyline the main characters development and the music score is brilliant. As soon as it was over I wanted to see it again. yes Joaquin Phoenix deserves an Oscar he is a fantastic character actor, this film has made me want to go and watch all of his films. I personally didn't have an issue with the violence, I found this film to be poignant but not disturbing. Loved every minute of it.
Unbelievable (2019)
Amazing
This is a well told and well acted story that grips you from the first episode to the last. Its pace, direction and how it handles the subject is exceptional.
About time Netflix gave us something worth watching.
Sneaky Pete (2015)
It should have stayed a con show
I'm so disappointed by this series it had all the makings of an American version of the UK's The Hustle but it became a family drama which was so unbelievably boring I couldn't stand to look at them especially the matriarch Audrey i just couldn't stand her or the husband such terrible actors it felt like they were ad-libbing as if they had forgotten their lines and it drove me mad. Season 1 is pretty decent season 2 was meh and season 3 was awful every part of it including the ridiculous con. There were so many aspects within Marius' world that would have made fantastic viewing and the cons could have been spectacular. I loved Giovanni Risi he made the character his own with his little quirks. I just wish it was more about him and not the awful family we had to endure for 3 seasons, aside from the real Pete he was funny I liked him.
Watch seasons 1 and 2 and avoid 3 you'll fall asleep anyway.
Us (2019)
Don't believe the hype
This film got 7 out of 10 and I can't understand why.
It's not scary,
not innovative,
has little to no tension,
no jump scares,
no decent acting,
no plot really,
little to no action,
no blood,
no horror,
Seriously need I go on??.
The mind boggles how this even got made. The trailer gives it far too much justice for the vacuous nonsensical mess this film is, my pooch could do better. The actors really do not help, the ONLY decent thing is the music and not the stupid suspense music that they had to put in because there is no suspense.
I would not recommend this film, I don't know what others saw but for me this was a waste of time.
The Boys (2019)
It's ok not amazing but ok
It's definitely watchable however after the first episode which deserves a 10 the rest do not. It's not the acting that's fine for the most part except Keith Urbans awful cockney accent it's trash he should of just used his own Aussie acvent I have no idea why they told him to do it, if the part required a brit why not just use a British actor instead there's plenty out there that are as good if not better than him. Most episodes are fillers, not much happens and the supes are pretty naff to be honest. But each to their own. I'm not saying it's bad it's just not that good.
Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)
Average at best
Wish I'd not bothered to see it on the big screen, huge disappointment, the cast did their best I suppose and Jake Gyllenhaal was particularly good as mysterio. Other than that a big fat let down aimed at 5-10 year olds.
One Strange Rock (2018)
It's ok
I know it's trying to be informative for every level of intelligence
but it's a bit too high school education for me, I'm looking for information that I don't already know. The cinemotography is wonderful though, Will Smith is ok although he's not really needed and he's no David Attenborough or Prof Brian Cox. The astronauts were a bit boring I thought and some their analogies irrelevant in my opinion.
I preferred Planets which you can see on BBC iPlayer it tells you everything this show does but doesn't dumb down it's explanations or add fillers into each episode, Prof Brian Cox talks to the audience as educated people who want to understand better and I prefer that style. Obviosly this is just my opinion but check that out and then watch this and see which is the superior programme.
The Endless (2017)
Below standard even for a B movie
I quite like a B movie, I find low budget horror films if they're done well are gripping, scary and nerve wracking as I see them as an extension of what could really happen such as characters reactions and how they interact and develop while the film unfolds. This had none of it, it was very poorly acted by the 2 leads, the story telling was plain and the film didn't seem to go anywhere. I found it boring, lazy and I'd had enough 30 mins into the film although I watched it I wouldn't recommend anyone put themselves through the same laborious torture.
Point Blank (2019)
Cringy
This was seriously disappointing, the plot seemed good and the first 10 mins looked promising but it went downhill fast and developed into a poorly scripted and woodenly acted excuse for an action film, the soundtrack was the worst I've ever heard and so loud in some scenes I think it was to deter from the spectacle I was enduring, the car wash scene had me in hysterics, the song that was playing during it was hilarious. I've given it 2 for the beginning. I think the rating it's been given so far is too generous. Are these actors so hard up for jobs that they'll take any old tripe?? I'm starting to think so.
Beats (2019)
Bad...not in a good way
This film is bad from the get go, the film has a strange soft focus effect to it which is off putting the lead actor is extremely wooden and I couldn't understand his voice, he rambled his lines, the beats / hooks etc were awful and the story line is so tiring now it's boring. All in all this film is lacklustre lazily written poorly acted with a terrible score to put it bluntly.
Straight outta Compton or 8 mile are a million times better if you're looking for that kind of film bin this and watch one of them.
Shaft (2019)
Awful, terrible, tedious, boring....
Completely unfunny, poorly acted tripe I can't be bothered to even to review it.
I recommend you DONT watch it.
Jessica Jones (2015)
If only they kept in kilgrave
I have endured this series with its awful characters like Patsy whom I can't stand to even watch on the screen and the weird lawyer who is also a ridiculous side note and irrelevant. I got through the first season as David Tennant's character kilgrave was brilliant, after that it became a vacuous non entity that just aired for the sake of it. Series 2 brought nothing except a migraine everytime I heard Patsy, And now to top it all off series 3 Patsy gets superpowers and wants to become a hero are you kidding me! Is this a child's comic, this character is so needy and jealous, its horrible I just cant watch, and the actress that plays her is so wooden she could be a cardboard cut out which would improve the show no end. The lame middle aged podgy villain is not worthy of superhero time or mine for that matter, is that the best they could come up with? I thought Jessica Jones was a anti hero but this is played out for kids and teenagers, it's child like, pathetic and the acting is cringy.
So glad it's cancelled.
The Punisher (2017)
Not bad
The first season was good, and made enjoyable viewing. Second season was over acted and ridiculous which brought my rating down. It's better than the awful Jessica Jones though.
