Patagonia: Life on the Edge of the World (2022)
Beautiful Footage and Interesting Stories
I liked the interviews with native scientists and community members. I thought they gave context to the gorgeous footage of the wildlife. Very well done imho.
As for the commercials, you can just DVR it and fast forward thru them. YouTubeTV has seemingly unlimited cloud DVR.
NOS4A2 (2019)
Underrated, Great Show (Season 1)
The cast (and casting!) are excellent. Ashleigh Cummings gives an absolute tour de force, virtuoso performance as Victoria McQueen. She is a great actor, completely in command of her emotions, and turns Vic into a compelling combination of "vulnerable, relatable girl from troubled family," with "supernaturally-gifted hero."
Zachary Quinto as the charismatic, diabolical Charlie Manx and Jahkara Smith as Maggie, and the rest of the supporting cast ensemble, are all top notch too.
The show exists in a fully-realized, original world. The characters are multidimensional and nuanced. The subject matter gets a bit dark at times, and esp. the first few episodes were genuinely a bit scary. But the writers do a good job keeping the audience in high suspense.
On a side note, had no idea Joe Hill, the producer and the author of the book the show was based on, was Stephen King's son, until midway through Season 1. He certainly succeeds on his own, in terms of creativity and storytelling ability, but he's also reminiscent of his father's abilities. Kudos to Hill.
