Miguel Wants to Fight (2023)
Fantastic Gem: 9 out of 10
I don't write reviews here very often, haven't done one for years, but figured I would for this since it's getting a low rating, obviously from haters that just don't get it. Maybe they just don't like heart in movies, so ignore the low rating, this is a fantastic film: feel good, sharp and intelligent. Highly recommend if you like these types of movies... 9 out of 10.
Aside from that, it has some very cool and fun fight scenes, with some hilarious takes on some iconic films, a tribute of sorts. Hint, the posters in Miguel's room pretty much set the stage for what you are about to experiences.
Infini (2015)
One of the best Sci-Fi-Horror movies of all time
I just had to come here and share my 2cents for those that might be thinking about watching Infini.
I have no idea why this movie is not ranked higher. Maybe those new to the Sci-Fi-Horror scene just didn't get it, anyway, this is not really a review but a recommendation.
If you enjoy this genera, this is a must watch.
People have been comparing Infini to Event Horizon but I think that comparison does a serious disservice to Infini. The first 3/4 of Event Horizon were fantastic, the last 20 minutes were brutal, and the ending was absolutely horrendous, just another Hollywood fist fight. Infini on the other hand, the first 3/4 was fantastic, the last 20 minutes was brilliant, and the endings was one of the greatest ending in Sci-Fi history. That's what make's it a 10.
Enjoy.
Sin City (2005)
Frank Miller is god and his art is absolutely magnificent
It is an honor to see such a great film from such a great creator. Frank Miller's comics were and are brilliant but there was always something missing. In all of his work there was an element that did not come through in the comics. You could see it and feel it. You knew what Miller was trying to do and even though it was 99% there, that extra little touch or element that would put it over the top and make it a masterpiece was missing ... after seeing Sin City I know what that missing element was. Frank Miller's work is meant to be on the big screen and seen and appreciated as a movie ... if you loved or even liked Millers work in the comic books you will be blown away with the movie.
Hands down, no one comes close, it is what others have tried and failed to achieve ... Frank Miller's Sin City is absolutely the best comic book ever to see the screen.
I will be watching this movie many more times before it is taken away from the movie theaters where it is meant to be seen.
This movie will (or I should say should) win the best movie of the year, the best screen play, the best script, the best director, the best cinematography, the best set, the best special effects and the best supporting actor and actress roles including the best actor role for Mickey Rourke.
Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant ... a masterpiece ... like watching Mozart play for the first time. The first 2 minutes made me want to cry i was so happy, and after 15 minutes I knew that I was watching something that is so rare in movies that it made me want to weep.
Mr. Miller, you have just written yourself in the pages of history as a genius and it is well deserved. Thank you for you work
Freedom Downtime (2001)
What a documentary should be and what every American should see
The simple truth is that the American justice and prison system are run by private corporation and if the government wants to get rid of someone they just hand them over to this system. This movie is about just one person that this has happened too. Unfortunately for Mitnick he was the scapegoat used to pass a lot of laws to protect corporations and allow them to right off a lot of expenses and steal a lot of money by blaming hackers. This is the real message of the movie. Just a simple wake up call to the people.
This movie is much more then the story of Mitnick, a computer user at a time when very few people knew how to turn them on. He was used and abused, his life destroyed and his freedom taken away. And the scary truth is most people really didn't care because it was happening to someone else.
This is a great movie, funny beyond what you would expect. Informative beyond what it seems, all you have to do is listen to what the "geeks" are saying. It's filled with great REAL characters that will make you laugh out loud.
Watch this movie if you want to have a great time and learn more then you would watching a year of Hollywood movies Great job to the cast and crew and the hackers and the geeks ... I loved it
Rollerball (1975)
Absolutely Brilliant a masterpiece and a MUST SEE!
One reason today's Hollywood makes remakes is to make sure people don't see the originals. This movie was made at a time when Corporations didn't rule. It belongs with the likes of '2001: A Space Odyssey', 'Blade Runner', and the 1962 'Manchurian Candidate'.
Everyone will find something to love about this movie. From a very 'Fahrenheit 451' style of political statement to it's fantastically shot war like sequences of the game to it's completely colorful stylish sets and designs.
I watch this movie over again every few years. It amazes me every time and I see something different every time. You will not be disappointed ... except of course if you liked James Caan in that Schwarzenegger movie 'eraser' ... Yikes!
This is an incredibly rare movie, don't let the idea of Roller Ball turn you off, this is a masterpiece. I just wish I could see it on the big screen again.
Bab el shams (2004)
Absolutely beautiful, an EPIC. This is a must see for all
Absolutely beautiful, an EPIC. This is a must see for all. It's about history and the plight of the Palestinians and how Zionism played its part. It's a true love story that will bring smiles and tears to your eyes.
The best way to describe this movie is to compare it to Ararat. What Ararat should have been for the Armenian genocide committed by the Turks, this movie is for the Palestinians. But this movie, The Door To the Sun, is about 10 times better then Ararat and much more significant as a historical film that will not see it's equal for many years to come.
This movie is one of the best films I have seen for a very long time. From its music to it's poetry. From its scenery to it's cinematography. From its dream sequences to it's vivid portrayal of reality. It's is absolutely magnificent.
Highly recommended for all ages. DO NOT MISS THIS MOVIE
