Midsomer Murders: Dance with the Dead (2006)
A very good episode of the series. Singing by Liza Pulman was tops
A very good episode of the series. Singing by Liza Pulman tops. Her singing made the episode for me. Listening to her sing was the best part of the show.
Criminal Minds: And in the End (2020)
Weak ending for a great series until last yr or so
Another Spencer is messed up yet again episode. Spencer was my least favorite character in this series. He was always played up as the smartest kid on the block who could solve any mystery. But he continually made wrong decisions and was pretty much a loser that other team members had to cover for.
Still, it was a long running series that had many more good episodes than bad ones. But it did slide downhill at the end as the best actors left the show and were replaced by weaker actors.
So, a fond farewell to one of the better shows on the air over the years.
Madam Secretary: The New Normal (2019)
Madam Secretary drifting way too much to the left
I liked this show initially. But this episode is just following on attacking USA policy week after week. A typhoon threatens a Pacific Island and somehow the writers of this show blame Climate Change and the US as the cause of worldwide climate change. If this was an aberration of an episode, I could accept it. But the writers have been blaming the US every week for every ill in the world. Hollywood and it's leaders have gone off the deep end and turned in to prosyltiziing lefties.
Criminal Minds: Truth or Dare (2019)
Poor writing has Feds dropping guns when asked
Once again hollywood script writers have law enforcement officers dropping their guns when asked by a known murderous felon, even though 2 of them have the drop on the killer. Both law officers, as told earlier in the story, having scored perfect grades on shooting range. I come from a family of cops(a cousin and 2 nephews) and believe me they would NEVER drop their guns based on a demand from an armed felon, especially when he has exposed his head to a deadly shot.
Yet I have seen this plot twist used in countless cop shows on TV. What world do these writers live in. Don't they do any research at all before rolling out this tired plot point?
Heaven Is for Real (2014)
Not a bad movie, but that is a family I would not want to be near
It was a good movie and their handling of a near death expeience was very interesting. But this is a family that I would not want to be near for fear that their tremendous bad luck would be catching. Anything that could go wrong, did go wrong for this family. Miscarriages, broken leg, burst appendix, doubting wife, doubting congregation, etc.
A Joyous Christmas (2017)
An OK Christmas movie ruined by Bonnie Bedelia
The storyline was OK, and for the most part it played up the Christmas spirit is a good thing. But for a role (Joy) that was to embody everything joyous about Christmas, it failed miserably because of Bonnie Bedelia's sad, whining, crying portrayal of Joy. Did she even smile once in the movie? Can Bonnie smile? Is that in her acting skills? Anyway, about half way thru the movie I stopped caring about how this movie was going to turn out.
Quantico (2015)
Quantico Spy Games
The writers on this show are so formulaic, it is sad. Less than 10 minutes in to this episode, any viewer would know the prince's sister was the traitor who tried to have her brother killed. But for the next 35 minutes they trotted out supposed suspects. Do they have any writers left in Hollywood who have an ounce of imagination.
The Artist (2011)
Best picture Oscar for a B&W silent movie? Hollywood is nuts
I think Hollywood has lost it's collective mind by giving a best picture Oscar to a black and white mostly silent movie in the 1.33 to 1 format. There is a reason movies started to move away from that format in the 1930s - IT IS BORING and is like looking at TV dramas from the 50s. What has happened here is that the Hollywood elite and the critics and not real movie goers have gotten all caught up in the artistry of making an old time movie today. Aside from the technical issues, the story itself is just barely interesting and can't keep your attention thru the whole movie. Do yourself a favor and save your money. If you must see this picture wait until it is on TCM at 4 in the morning in 5 or so years where they play all the old silent movies almost no one watches.
Machete (2010)
Lousy movie glorifying illegal aliens invading US
Lots of action and violence and some nudity make movie titillating and fast moving.
But the premise is that US citizens are scum and that illegal aliens from Mexico are all wonderful
victims instead of criminals.
Movie should only be shown in communities that think illegal aliens should flood the US or shown in Mexico.
The producer and director definitely support illegal aliens and their bias is blatant.
Overall, this movie was a waste of my time and I am glad that It was only a Netflix choice.
I would have hated to have paid good money for this.
