Life is like being a leaf
12 January 2023
This is a great movie if you do not expect anything specific and let the film guide you. It is not a roller coaster but a snapshot of how people feel at times, not rushing in doors, but knocking and asking for entry. Most actors did a convincing job, Maddie Ziegler and Jenna Ortega did an outstanding job, when ever they tried to create this magic of life involving friendship, love, devotion and this endless little philosophy of restless minds. All this in between a harsh reality, which never gives them any chance for feeling comfortable, a violent stream of events pulling them aimlessly away. Life is about forgiving and forgetting, letting go and not loosing yourself. Jenna Ortega really seemed to have incredible fun acting in this role and it suited her perfectly. She seems talented like a Djinn out of a bottle at times. More of such movies please.

Your choice is an mere illusion...
23 December 2021
Since you have to like the fourth part in the Matrix series for what it is -- and indeed it is a Resurrection. Nothing more, nothing less. That is why I rated 8 out of 10. But for a 10 out of 10, you will have to reinvent, create a new world as bright as the old one was. A world that is able to reflect all these anomalies of today, not of those 20 years ago. Matrix was resurrected, but got stuck in a time bubble in that past time. And this is the culprit, why Matrix 4 hasn't got those high ratings like they were given and deserved for Matrix. Because Matrix was marvelous in reflecting the Zeitgeist of the Millennium. While Matrix 4 let's you sleep on and even lets you enjoy dreaming a bit.

Action Bizarre Mediocre
27 October 2019
There is something about this movie which needs a comment. A comment about the general direction, which the team around Dwayne Johnson is willing to go. The team is certainly worth a good movie, a very good movie indeed, but this isn't what Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is. The whole concept is more like a worn out shoe, and all over the story is not up to modern standards, kids from elementary school might need some co-transcription, but well, but not all of them. It is just too stale. Another Hobbs and Shaw tease each other to the limit. Music ever as heavy and rock-solid spicing up the FX and eye-candy. The most emotional thing is to watch the Hawaii People living happily in this movie. We all know that is a tale for most of them still. So, what would I expect from Dwayne "THE Rock" Johnson & Co? Technically well done and excellent work, yes, of course. But the screenplay, script, story et cetera all that, should really meet standards. This movie is action with action with action and cool phrases and action and action. You get the point, I guess. This kind of movies won't last very long in the memories of cinematic lovers. Hey, you can do much better.

Star Trek: Discovery (2017–2024)

Never expected a Star Trek series to continue the journey
2 March 2019
Star Trek Original Series is quite so famous, but let's be honest, a few years have been passing and only the elder who felt the vibe on TV still know what it's like. Hard to imagine someone new to Star Trek today could feel the same way, since so much has improved in quality of film-making mainly the FX. From today's viewpoint the FX are quite amusing sometimes just gimmicks, the screenplay sometimes feels just let's say plain and well. It aged, but the spirit never does. So we followed Star Trek through its successors and every one of them had it's ups and downs but none of them was quite on par with the Original Series. My apologies, Captain Picard. Star Trek: Discovery in fact just amazed me. The first season gains momentum like a wild ride on a roller coaster, intertwined, fast, dramatic. Also screenplay pays much more attention to today's standards while not reaching out too far. Also it gives so much credits to its spiritual predecessor. Though Season 2 started a bit slower, but yep, that is the way to go, Star Trek. Very good continuation which bears the spirit of the original series.

What keeps you interested
14 December 2018
I do not think this movie acts as another entry for a relationship à la the Last Stand. Certainly we are able to find some appropriate entries over the last years, but rather not a real masterpiece. "What Keeps You Alive" unfortunately isn't playing in that league neither. First, the two main actress are performing well and even do make an all over good impression. Also the filming location was chosen nicely, the wilderness, well, close to wilderness, it offers lots of forest. What went wrong is the screenplay. After viewing this movie once, I do not feel like watching it again, since I had the impression the script writers were just putting effort into this, to earn money, but in fact they were so bored and absent, like you are most times while doing your own business. This really makes you think more about than what "What Keeps You Alive" does promise, "DID THEY really reuse and bring up every cliche I could think of"? But what is the worst fact, they did this so amateurishly, it is even more creepy than the movie itself. What Keeps You Alive, certainly not the screenwriters. But hey, nice boobs there, 6 out of 10.

Actually it is more entertaining to play a game
5 June 2018
Steven Spielberg was probably destined to do such a movie, as Virtual Reality becomes more and more a synonym for a change in society, which of course it is not. However, there are already movies out there covering this topic. Fantastic movies like the Matrix. Spielberg never comes closes to the quality and intensity especially the Matrix offers. Spielberg picked the main actors of Ready Player One by his well-known scheme, young to very young, teens and twens. Maybe because he does associate the online community with those ages. In fact, through the whole movie, there is a remarkable presence of immature fantasy, the whole world of online games and virtual reality has been visually and conceptually buffed up causing an unrealistic impression. A weird, frenetic story accompanied by those nerd type youngsters, having every answer to every machine-human interaction, in seconds, while everything else tumbles upside down, story elements that do not fit together or make no sense, and in between those reminders of that humanity is at loss, and we all have to cope and destroy whatever cliché evil together. All in all that was the taste I had, when watching this movie, immature, overdone fantasy garbage for teens, who use mobile devices to an excess, but have no clue about its technical realization and no ambition whatsoever as long as the can use it. 04/10

Goodbye Alien
24 May 2017
Goodbye Alien, that is literally my emotional condition after every Alien movie. Also this time, but in a different context. I would like to have it back, and let the horror begin. Because this late Ridley Scott Alien movie is not like a good aged wine, this one is stale and skewed. And it not genius at all. What is Alien Covenant about? In short, is about taking the best parts out of its predecessors, adding some new planet ambiance, and half a dozen good new shots. That's it. The way Ridley Scott tried to emphazise the mysticism about the Alien universe is quite obvious, just everything which should deserve a profound discussion, by all those smart talkers, which could read endless Alien comics and stories, unless they don't find anything else to dissect. After this movie, you'll get more scared by the idea how endless human colony ships could try to populate every planet in this universe with the same stupid blindfolded visionary creativism than any Xenomorph could. Alien Covenant reveals how the Alien universe has become a boring methodology. If you think you are going to see an outstanding action movie, nada. An outstanding thrilling horror movie, nada. But a lame society and creator vision-centered construct, which never came close to something like in Matrix. Does the Alien universe really need this genealogy thing? 5/10 Good Bye, Alien.

Before I Fall (2017)

Fragments of Life
19 May 2017
Finally I did take notice of Zoey Deutch, but she was hard to discover. Certainly she reminds me of Lea, but well, that's the story of the tree and the apples. Not this afar from what "Before I fall" is about. Zoey stop playing this Life simulator, I thought to myself, and was surprised by the outcome. You see one movie, and find so many fragments of other movies in it, you have seen awhile ago or so. Sometimes this seems intentional, sometimes not. But for this movie, it did work out. Let's say "Before I fall" is technically really professional, from tip to toe, music is brilliant, setting fits. Well done. The young ensemble didn't deliver any ground braking performance, but well above the average, and definitely respectable. Now, well here is the culprit. Fictions like this movie tell something which fits really well into young lives circumstances. Impulsive, emotionally driven, yearning for life, the story is the opposite. I felt always such a darkness through this movie. Like there was something bad to happen. And this was not due my supernatural precognition powers, but anticipation. Darn it, the actors did act like this, once the goal was set, the ambiance didn't change. As result, I did start asking myself, why is that. I did eat this like breadcrumbs, and well, the other stuff in the movie lost its magic. That shouldn't have been. Its like they couldn't let go how this movie would end. The impact of "Before I fall" would have been much better, if this would have not been so imminent. More character work, more details, more emphasis. Thats what would have made this movie wonderful or outstanding. Not only as story, but in acting and performance, heartfelt. It is like a firm tree with only half a dozen branches. 7/10

Pretty Nothing Part 2
6 March 2017
The only reasonable idea behind this pathetic effort for acting in this sparkle and slurp film is the wages. Come on, Love?! Love is the cradle of everything, it's the palace of your inner- self, your heart, filled with emptiness to everything you can imagine, but always the cradle of Love.

Not so in this movie. In Fifty Shades of Grey you are encountering at constant frequency some of the neat stuff rich gurls & bois can buy, for real. Some hipster gimmicks, interior, cars, jewelry, and so on. Brands, brands, brands, you are starting to get hot?

What is love? I can't say so far, but in terms of what wealth is, this movie does an impressive good job. Beside this annoyances every animal documentary should reflect more about love and being wild at something.

Every minute advancing in this movie, my rear unit just starts feeling warmer and warmer, reeling in that seat, hours felt, and I did start thinking what could cause this subjective impression of weight gain? Im settled, I'm a rock, and how great, like a sitting rock in all of its Fifty Shades of Grey.

You'd start thinking about yourself, and find out that the very intense thing about such movies is something you can't explain, it is in the air. It is something living, real persons, that are involved. Best I could think of was ...they are actors. And it never felt quite that obvious as in this film. Maybe this would be interesting, intense, thoughtful,... if this persons would have done this in real, felt, breathed. Your probably not going to say this about some Alien movie, but in a love story, yes sure, you would do. The brazenness wasn't anymore vibrant like in 9½ Weeks, taking all your attention, but more about this attitude they come up with to draw more money out of your pockets with this slick bang-A-Maid stuff.

Albeit, i guess the set probably had some fun making this all-you-can-love munchies theater, but I don't see any sense beyond that. 02/10

Certain Women (2016)

non-dramatic views on Montana
14 October 2016
Beside its experimental story-line, this movie offers mostly standard cinema, which isn't bad itself. It is just, well you need a comfortable couch, and some hot drink by your choice, am maybe a warm and cozy buddy like your dog, cat or someone by your choice beside you. Then this movie reveals its most value. It is about humans, people, circumstances, minds and thoughts, love and friendship, emotions, and more. It is hard to argue this movie had a distinct and clear story-line, as the story itself, as it evolves, has not a clear pattern. Maybe just this is intentional, in order not to distract from the vivid actors, which were really a good choice. The most positive aspect is perhaps that different viewers are able to have different impressions, so its subtle, not plain. On the negative I would mind the minor emotional commitment I felt sometimes, a little bit too shallow, not really involved, but it was definitely never overdrawn. 07/10

Her (2013)

C.r.a.p.
28 February 2016
C.R.A.P., this would be the name of my personal AI, the digital person dragging me into bits & bytes. C.R.A.P. stands for 'can't really argue, pal'. But also it describes 'HER' in all its efforts. This is one of those kind of movies I really ask myself, what the heck did they think when they were doing this? The movie tries desperately to overdraw the world of information technology. The voice can hear me, understand me, see me, ...wonderful! Today we know of no technology which would be able to achieve this. Illusional! However, AI can be philosophy as well, at least in this context, obviously the viewpoint of those who made this movie. Why philosophy? Because it is the science who can give answers to non existing things, such as the AI. And where does this lead to, if people who haven't got a clue, try to use science like a fast food restaurant? No where! Why should I find interest in a dude talking to a illusionary AI, who lives in a perfect world? Everyone in this movie is such a kind person, and the guy has not a single real problem! The educational gear this movie shifts in, does not deserve the term 'informative'. It's not that someone couldn't find devotion or love in the things he does by man-machine communication. Only that 'HER' is obviously too far away from reality, but too bothersome in asking questions about the future. Well, it is time to think about the world of tomorrow, voices who speak to us without a person being present. Let's see what they think about 'HER'?

Doesn't live up to its hype
10 January 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Despite the fact, that the ambiance and the amazing landscapes are once more breathtaking, I couldn't get the same feeling of warmth, as DiCaprio showed. Whether it was the stony and innutritive background of humping and drinking bearded men which don't bear any humanity for the sake of money, or the ever for blood pacing Indians. For me, there has been too much space in between these plot lines, "The Revenant" didn't came close to share any ideas or personality from any of its actors, perhaps just DiCaprio. Don't expect something like "Dances with Wolves" where this has been done brilliantly. It's a mere survival story, with bland interruptions of monotonous doing but reasonable actors, and breath taking nature shots. Well, for those who argue this could be the next Oscar, indeed, it is the next step in career for DiCaprio, who managed to perform through this whole movie without his money making lady-killer smile. OK, lets get a hot cup of chocolate with magic marshmallows, and review the scenery once more. maybe I will find some chunk of gold I did miss before. 6/10

Paper Towns (2015)
Dreamer are Loosers
6 November 2015
Quentin is a typical dreamer. If you are as well, you know, by remembering the time you wake up. But Quentin is also in love, in love with Margo, a girl he knew since his childhood. Thats all. They are bound by an accident, or a moment of stress in their childhood. Paper Towns isn't very detailed or embroidered in these terms. Everything seems really more factual and well organized, not dramatic, but in a nice way. Quentin is with other teens in his age, they are to mature. Well, his girlfriend is strange. In fact, she isn't really his girlfriend. Margo is just living in a different world than Quentin, so to say. One way to change this is for Quentin to tell her. Thats what Paper Towns is about. A funny view on teen age, about promises, and the first love. but also sentimental. The movie criss crosses lots of clichés which should help everyone to remind these times. The director never uses too much magic in this paper chase story. Just enough to make you think a while, and remember. Paper Towns is a well done movie, with mostly good actors, about a time when we had the right to be frenetic and uncompromising about our sweethearts. 7 out of 10

I am the Vitamin!
1 October 2015
Don't expect me to write something as easy and liquid as this movie is. It is popcorn cinema at its best. The story? A bunch of co(s)mic based super heroes and super villains choose to fight about...something. a bucket of possibilities come into my mind, the world, justice, a city, a nation, whatever. Take what you like. The holy grail of shallow cinema. Well, if this would be everything, we would have been happy with Indiana Jones and all about it for the rest of our humble lives. But Indiana Jones isn't this interwoven into our modern world. We are obliged into value based thinking. Everything is of a certain value. Mixed with strong moral based and ethic principles, so we don't freak out. Our way of living is a modern tale, our ego is of value. And tales, as they were used through all times in history, do emphasize on a certain aspect. They offer a different view on real life circumstances, we cant easily describe else. And this is what The Avengers does. They are the perfect image of our principles, of our lives, how we are supposed to be in order to succeed in our lives, in business, in enterprises, in companies, in public places, at the grocery, at home, in our families, even on the toilet. Serve and protect. Love your next like your beloved brother. And you know this isn't easy, to keep the toilet clean with a brush after using it. So are the Avengers, they are always fighting on screen with uttermost force. And they do cause tremendous havoc. But this is just the image of what is unseen in our real life. Unseen because of the conservative and stodgy chair we took place in. And this movie is a tribute to this injustice. I am able to smile at my children when they play supercherios, marvel & crapman. They do honor me! All of them. And I know it. We are the Marvels. They are our inner heroes. Fighting every day for the good in this world, in all of us. A homage to you, as you would never dare to show to anyone, even not yourself. No need to see a shrink anymore. Watch the Avengers, watch all the Marvel Superheroes. You deserve it. I am the vitamin! 10 out of 10.

Don't be frightened!
25 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
A lonesome police officer in a police station at night. And this police station is about to get closed, abandoned, finites. The last shift for a rookie. A young, female rookie. Now, you guess, what could possibly go wrong? Is the toilette rotten? Yes. Is the light flickering? Yes. Do doors slam shut like if a ghost kicked them? Yes. Do dead people talk like they were still alive? Yes. Yes, Yes, and Yes. About every cliché is going to be served. Scary, scary. And what makes this movie outstanding in any way? For me? I wasn't aware of Juliana Harkavy before. Oh, she does look awesome. She acts like a safe heaven through all this movie. From the first minute I did start liking her, she is really so adorable and gorgeous. Even the camera helps a lot, often circling around her like a fond butterfly. So why not? Now we come closer to the point where this movie didn't succeed. Just this small inner transition, the moral bond, it was intended, accepting her as your emotional companion right from the start. Like a trap. And yes, indeed, this was working out. Very well. But not her emotional journey, the way she became delirious, slowly turning from a righteous and believable person into a slave of her own mind. There was too much empty space on this stage, between me and this person. Too less of information, of exploitable things, to less of graceful acting, which could have made her believable, impressive, and unique. Performances we know from Robert DeNiro, Jodie Foster, Dustin Hoffmann, Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett and so many other amazing actors. But why was Juliana Harkavy not able to deliver? Was she scared? Then why the heck did she act in a horror movie? 6 out of 10, and Im frightened to admit I should have rated much lower.

Ten facts about the Equalizer Denzel
20 September 2015
He prefers books over movies

He dislikes wearing cherry curls

He never blushes in front of girls

He is fascinated by Russian kitchen and night life

He loves well furnished rooms

He enjoys destroying them completely

He doesn't like bloodless victories

He can't dance, but serves well as one man army

He is overwhelmed by autistic thinking

He can't count well, or why would he let go the classy chick just with a bunch of dollars, while having them stock piled in front of him through half of the movie?

Resumee: somewhat overdrawn & spectacular towards the end, but many bad guys, hot chicks & lots of cool FX. 6 out of 10.

Spring (I) (2014)
3/10
New Flavorless Cinema
19 September 2015
Hooray, or we'd better say Eureka! We have made it, we found the formula for making cinema without flavor. We are able to shoot a movie at the most wonderful, romantic and fabulous locations, without making you think about butterflies. Emotions, the word Spring does bear such, are rare in this cliché love affair. The Beauty meets the Beast, and we thank Disney for producing the original version, since it was the most adorable. Speaking of grace, while the male actor, Lou Taylor Pucci, always seems to be adored by himself, maybe he was still overwhelmed by his idol Brad Pitt, the female actor Nadia Hilker even outperformed his movie servant manners. The story should make me assume they were in love, but even the pizzas in this film were far more delicious. Perhaps she shouldn't perform after smoking weed for weeks, or how is this terrible acting explainable. She wins in the most not adorable actress I could remember this year. Maybe even last year, or I just forgot about seeing such a apathetic performance. Okay, she is young, but this doesn't excuse everything. The bottom line is that the cheapest bottle of chianti is probably much better than this Spring. 3 out of 10, since Italy is such a wonderful place. Grazie. PS: Dear Spring crew, if you want to ruin Italy completely, then continue producing such horrible attempts of Romeo & Julia replicas. Good Luck.

Can't say No to Lucy
28 July 2015
A life is what matters. This idiom will prove its meaning through this whole movie. And no one is able to demonstrate this better and more charming as the main actress, Scarlett Johansson as Lucy. Lucy is utter nonsense, utter chaos, love, and modern dialectic. As we are questioning the meaning of life, we rather tend to obey other circumstances which are of different matters. As such we do take notice how a wonderful main actress does a superb job in a fantasy driven action thriller. Not that it would matter, but she does entertain as action hero, in contrast to the nice and sassy blonde chick with the amazing sex appeal, we are used to. But it would be unfair to state this movie good qualities just because of her, there are too many good actors and great performances to mention them all. To be honest, the story itself is the weakest spot of Lucy. Darn it. They could have emphasised a little bit more on this topic, life and evolution, more than the average peeper deserves. Enough of her lips and tits, we wanna see Scarlet (r)evolutionize. Next time, give her a great character, a great team, and a great story. Make her real. 6 out of 10.

Backcountry (I) (2014)

BB, i'm back for BBQ
17 July 2015
Amazing, isn't it. We all share something in common. We all want to share our life time, our unique experiences, with someone we love in our life. And this i what Backcountry is about. A young couple, played by Missy Peregrym and Nicholas Campbell, very sympathetic and pragmatic living beings, who love to adventure, live their love for raw nature, and the wilderness. Driven by memories of the youth, the lad soon takes the lead through half of the movie, just to be overrun by a darn fortune. In fact, Backcountry is not poetic, sensitive nor mystic, therefore both are too focused on excuses, on their own mind. Missy Peregrym does a great job as the mate, and she amazes with her strong and very expressive acting. She bears more beauty than the thorny and shrubby nature around her, which is to strike them both with her fatal side, though they expected to be caught by its tenderness. A good movie for any aspiring couples, and such who love nature.

Filfy Shades of Nudity
11 June 2015
Did you know how different the shades of nudity can be in just one movie? Dakota Johnson tried an interesting approach with Fifty Shades of Grey. I've counted endless hours, and I'm still not finished. Sometimes soft, then in broad daylight, or in the pale smile of the ascending moon. It is so simple, and yet illustrative. I did not notice this before. Or would ever anyone think about the shades of the nipples of the woman sharing the same bed with you? Raising the blind, letting them down again, alternating the ambiance in room with the light regulator, just to take notice of the amazing shades? In fact, who does have a light regulator at all? I wonder what impact choco cream or mustard honey could have, under neath the leather stripes, bound and shackled, greasy and gross. OK, let me watch this movie again...until I'm satisfied. 10 out of 10 for this amazing replay value.

Hymn to Fire Weapons
1 March 2015
No matter how many words I will try to find for this review, they are already outnumbered by the bullets in this movie. A requiem for an unknown soldier, who was famous for shooting countless men. men which are to be considered as the enemy, and therefore not questionable. Basically this movie succeeds in drawing a highly contrasted black and white world, where good is good and evil is evil. You won't become much headache for watching this film. Beyond its wishful thinking, I would not doubt, that anyone participating in any war is victim to PTSD, what does give me some headache. However, this wasn't subject to this movie. as questionable as the director Clint Eastwood could have been, American sniper goes astray from what could have made this film a good one. It is too shallow, too gentle, apparently double-pro-American and harmless. What Client Eastwood made was a movie giving you a traditional view on topics of today. A global confrontation of indignities and violence, which best is used a exciting scenario. No rules, no questions, just survive. Funny however, as Client Eastwood was the director, and I always thought this guy is an actor, living a fulfilled live, and not a hymn composer, trying to present us his collection of "gun men never die" stories. It must be hard for him, balancing himself from movie to movie, and live up only for those two hours.

The Interview (II) (2014)

Undignifying work
17 February 2015
If this movie is known to make someone in north Korea upset, I wouldn't know why? About 110 minutes of this stale nonsense, makes me think it is much worse what our arsenal consists of. A movie full of stupid jokes, from bum-sex to silly facial expressions, antiquated slapstick, it is just nonsense. No its worse, it is mindless. The presentation is such kind of overdrawn, I ask myself what is funny about this thrash? How does a movie full of this mindless nonsense make more sense than what north Korea does? I would rate this movie environmental pollution. They shouldn't blow up so much stuff for such ideological idiocy in cinema-scope. It isn't justified just because someone tries to be funny. We are living on a planet with limited resources, thats what ideology is about. And this movie isn't the best way to become aware of this. Movies like the Naked Gun had style, everything Leslie Nielsen did was way better than what 'The Interview' offers. It is just too much, over the top, ridiculous repetitive jokes, everyone of them has been made before in other movies, just they weren't about Kim Jong-un. 1 out of 10.

Ask Me About this movie...
16 February 2015
...but don't question this movie, because it isn't bad. I love those movies which you are eager to watch without huge expectations, but they simply leave you with a tender smile after. This is one of those. OK, there is simply a good reason for this, and its the main actress. Britt Robertson was new to me and I am quite impressed about her performance. It is quite fair to say, this movie didn't succeed in story telling or effects. In fact, about everything evolves around this young and aspiring actress. And this is were she did convince me. The story is just this bland and unsurprising, it seems obvious they were trying to set up something like an obstacle course for her. The 36 chambers of godlike actresses, the all-she-can-do wondergirl. But just as obvious this is, Britt Robertson mastered nearly everything in her very own way. And exactly this was quite amusing about this movie. she is a rough diamant as a lot of those cream pie top actresses were before they graduated from little stars into supernovas. You remind them by wasted lifetime, having watched all their blockbuster mashup junk. I really hope this star Britt Robertson does take a different route. 8 out of 10

Godzilla (2014)
5/10
This movie has a mismatched title
23 August 2014
The movie, this movie, evolves around the existence of a Prealpha predator, named Godzilla. One positive aspect, is how this version of 'Godzilla' seems to be closer to the original version. In other words, the Monster needs another opponent than the ordinary humans. Wait! Did I say humans? No I meant the military. And not just some military, but the US military. However, there are some actors who pretend to be common civilians as well. OK, that is the story. The whole problem about this movie is its title, as a lot of such movies. Why name it Godzilla, like this would be the main actor, the most important part? No, this part belongs to General Strenz, and his military companions. The stereotype of world saving soldier, and there are a lot of them, plus their vehicles, land, sea, air. And missiles, rockets, explosions, a lot of gun fire, yes, and a school bus. In my opinion this movie's appropriate title would be, 'Another Adventure of the US military against (Westcoast) Godzilla'. Since there already was a (Eastcoast) Godzilla. they have a lot of these adventure-type films like US Army vs. 'TheBadGuy' already, the eastcoast gorilla & the super bad ass stereotype munster in new york, the whole world, the super dangerous aliens in all shades. The koreans, north. Well, you know the military, sorry, ... the story. 5 out of 10 for the nice ambiance and FX.

Almost funny...

Where does this movie head at? I think this question wasn't important, as the motivation of the director must have been most important. The film does excel when it comes to technical skills and standards. The whole settings and the filming location were really a good choice, and the story itself could have been more than an overused vessel. But the movie lacks as soon as I think about the main actors. Both Jessica Biel and Kaya Scodelario (what a wonderful name) wouldn't match. Until the end I was waiting for some kind of a surprising effect. Though most actors in the supporting roles were quite convincing, the movie left me with the impression of a void, a huge yawning void. May because it was too late for watching 'The Truth About Emanuel', or the unfinished, rough performance of both main actress' led only to a shallow mood. The truth is, there have been many more movies succeeding in what the director intended with this work. However, if you like Kaya Scodelario eyes', or want to see Jessica Biel failing horribly, I would definitely recommend this movie. But don't expect to see a provocative nor sensitive film, it was more like grotesque.
