Immaculate (2024)
A religious horror that doesn't hold back.
This is one of the most interesting religious horrors I've seen. Gory and brutal, Immaculate does not hold back. While there were a few jump scares that you could definitely see or feel coming, the true horror is the situation Sister Cecelia found herself in. At times, Immaculate echoed another excellent horror film, Ready or Not. Sydney Sweeney gives a solid performance here, but I also want to shout out the two actresses that played Sister Isabelle and Sister Gwen. They injected some unexpected humor into the first part of the movie and also gave good performances. Sister Cecelia's final act of defiance and anger was shocking and really sealed in the 9 star rating for me. I highly recommend seeing this movie if you are a fan of pregnancy horror or religious horror. I can see why Sydney Sweeney worked so hard to get this movie made. It was worth it.
Ciao House (2023)
Give us contestants we can root for
Did the casting call for this show read "Looking for awful human beings who happen to be chefs"? There's nobody to root for on this show. If you want a display of pure narcissism to end your Sunday night, this is for you. It's just such a shame. I'm sure there were more qualified chefs, who also had a shred of humility and basic decency that would have loved the opportunity. The two judges are good! Big fan of Alex and always have been. It's just a waste of her abilities, but I'm sure she is not complaining about being in Tuscany. I hope that if this show gets renewed for another season, they can find contestants that people want to root for and see succeed.
28 Days Haunted (2022)
Don't know who is worse...Ray or Jereme.
Painful, but entertaining enough to watch as something mindless. I don't know who was worse to watch. Ray Causey? Or Jereme? Their little spats with the rest of their team were just beyond irritating. I felt bad for those who had to work with those two. I felt particularly mad for Amy having to work with Ray. He was awful to her. I also just don't get why most had teams of 3 and the "worst" place only had a team of two.
Definitely a cheese fest, but good for mindless background. Don't expect anything overly spooky, but the histories of the locations were very interesting to learn about throughout the show. That's really about it...
